to perform a muscle energy technique for the hamstring group we can take our patient into hip flexion now we're looking for that first tissue bond so where there's that first point of resistance not full stretch the first point of resistance that's where we start the technique from so we have our patient pushing their heel down towards the table with about twenty percent of their maximum contraction so pushing down we're asking him to hold this for about seven to ten seconds after that 7 to 10 seconds is up we ask them to relax and then we move them further into hip flexion once again repeating that contraction heel down towards the table 7 to ten seconds and then relax so we can repeat this about three to five times or until we're not getting any further range of motion
