visible momam huh uh visible momam okay then fine we'll start exactly 10:00 M I'll start exactly 10:00 oh okay ma'am e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e lxmi a ma'am we'll start okay m'am okay I'm I'm starting recording M okay m follow [Music] is it visible lakmi is it visible to you yes ma'am is it visible okay so we'll start so good morning everybody today we will start the session and today is the sixth day session so this is Dr dipshika associate professor in school of computer science and engineering Bap so on the flow of our previous session as I have discussed about your first session was about what should be the pathway to completing your technical degree then we will we we will discuss about what are those main step you should understand with respect to achieving your goal like the placement opportunities and all so today we will discuss about the step by step guidance for preparing your resume so before going to this many people people should understand what is resume so let let me tell you the resume is nothing but a two or three pages of your Consolidated information what you have completed throughout your four years or 5 Years Journey of your btech degree or integrated mte degree so what is the importance of uh this part uh because with this information the company is going to S list you so your resume should uh reflect their requirement so uh this resume making uh is actually a four year or five years process it's not like after completion of the third year immediately you wanted to create a resume but but you need to see other years whatever you have already passed are you having those component to keep it in your resume so better to know from the beginning how we should make ourself ready so that we can incorporate the component inside that resume so one by one we will discuss about it so let me tell you the agenda about this particular session we will discuss the components of resume like how you are going to give your contact information and what is the importance of it what is the educational information what is the importance of it then the skills summary and uh what kind of achievement you have uh done throughout this uh three or four years and what are your projects highlight so these component for the time being you understand these are the component and you need to do the Fillin the blanks kind of thing throughout your semester okay so I'll discuss about that also what to do when to do how to do all those thing I will tell you but make sure you are going to keep consistency because this is not a process that uh I will see at the last year of my uh program it is not going to work out so let us discuss so first thing is your contact information uh why contact information uh like people should know how to approach you that is very important so contact information you can give your name details and all apart from that uh GI link you can provide your email ID you can provide and you you have to give your LinkedIn profile link why it's required so email is a just normal Communication channel where people can approach you but LinkedIn is going to give you about what kind of Professional Profile you are maintaining throughout this year and moreover this is Gab account so giab is about uh a kind of repository where you can store your projects and all and where you can discuss about how you are contributing towards the open Community as well so all those things also we will discuss one by one so let us come to your educational qualification before going to this educational qualification I always told you that definitely you need to maintain a good cgpa so this is some case study I have given over here like whenever you are completing your btech degree or integrated mtech degree you need to mention your degree name then you need to give your GP or cgpa information what kind of special specialization do you have you can in means uh explain over there like graduated with focusing on software development and Engineering principle or AIML or data science like that you can able to mention then uh you will able to also mention about uh your location and duration where you have completed your degree what was the duration like as you are entering in 2024 it will be definitely completed by 20 uh 28 or 29 uh if it is 4 year 28 if it is 5 years it is 29 then uh participated in various Techni workshop and heathan during the studies all those information you can about to give where you have uh means uh gone for the heathan how you have completed what was the time duration everything you have to mention and all so uh let us go to the next part now I'm not focusing on the cgpa because already I told you last session that cgpa is very much important for your scrutinizing of your resume so some of those company are coming uh they are keeping eight some people are kept keeping 8.5 so better to in safe site now coming to the skills what kind of skills do you have so if you are able to see the slide uh you must have little bit Panic uh you are little bit panic because so many information are there in this particular slide so how to deal with it also I will tell you so skill summary you should have the programming language skill then uh if you want to go for web development kind of thing then you you should have the front end and backend uh technology skill technological skill and other tools if you want to be very familiar with because nowadays technology is evolving so if you are updated with this then it will be a very plus point for you so let us come to the programming language so programming language as I have discussed already about C++ Java Python and uh many of those people are also asking us through mail regarding the queries that what I should start and all but you should start first thing is you should start it's up to your choice which is easy for you python is quite easier than everything so you can start with python also but all those component you need to cover up through the curriculum so don't keep this kind of mentality that whenever this particular component is coming in my curriculum let it be first year or second year at that time only I will learn this is not going to work out because you need to complete it with respect to uh the class curriculum also and whenever you are getting the vacation also because these many things you need to complete right and uh one point of time you need to decide also that you need to go for service oriented uh job or product development oriented job so uh it is up to you how you are going to achieve the goal but you should get ready minimum way minimal way okay so let us go to the next part uh is your fronted uh technology so before going to this programming skill how you are going to complete I'll tell you let's say you completing your curriculum in uh first year one programming language then uh first semester first year first semester one programming language you are completing then you are getting a 15 days of Gap during that you should start the second programming language so that with a prior information you are coming to the class for the second semester what kind of Advantage it is going to give you easily you will able to understand whenever the faculty is teaching to you okay and more practice practicing problem is very very important it's not like a theory subject that you will just mugging up something and uh you are going to write down something it is not going to work out so it is not a theoretical subject you will just by hard everything you need to understand logical perspective so utilize your time very time very wisely this is about your programming uh skill now coming to the fronted technology once if you are logically strong it is very much easy to understand about different kind of frontend technology which is going to help you out for web development uh thing okay so uh like uh react JS nodejs or HTML CSS this kind of concept you should be updated but question arise where when we switch start right there are some subject with respect to this also in your curriculum during that time if you want to start you can start but don't get delay whenever you are getting a gap in between your first year and second year minimum one month of Gap you will definitely get it so during that time at least the basic thing you should start with it so now you could have tell me Madam I don't know HTML I don't know CSS how can I start immediately try to start to do some project Okay so so if you will do you will learn if you are thinking that I will learn and then only I will do it is not going to work out you need to start in one point of time so if you will start doing some small small project then you can definitely go through the internal technology what you need you need to explore those thing you need to use it what kind of drawback you saw so you will able to improve yourself this is about your front end technology and coming to the backend technology also nowadays if you will see people's uh LinkedIn profile you will see they are devop engineers and all so especially they are working uh back background uh kind of thing like especially in this database management kind of thing so there you can go for this mongodb or Firebase and moreover Some Cloud oriented thing like AWS aers Ducker kubernets thing you can learn so if these are the thing you cannot expect that these are the thing has to be completed through your curriculum whatever subject has been assigned these are the thing you can learn through doing the project okay so small small project you do so that it you can incorporate it because in this on upcoming uh uh slide I'm going to tell you where to put this component and all apart from this if you are getting some time definitely you should be very much familiar with typescript or git or Postman Linux these are the things also where to useful also I will tell you okay so time timing uh management is very very important over here don't waste your summer vacation and all or winter vacation and all don't waste it if you want to enjoy enjoy I'm not denying you and uh 2 three days you can enjoy after that again you should come to the track because we should Al need some Gap to relax our mind and all and moreover I want to tell you there are so many technical clubs over VAP through technical clubs also you can able to learn so many new new technology okay so let us go to the next part next part is how the things has to be done these many thing academic and uh skill development can it be possible all of a sudden it is not going to possible all of a sudden rather than you need to Strate make a strategy on it uh first thing you need to work on your daily basis workflow okay then you need to work on your weekly basis workflow then monthly basis so daily basis what daily basis after completion of your classes you should revise your class notes and all work your assignment projects whatever has been given to you prepare for your upcoming test don't rely that faculty will whenever he will announce or he will tell us then only I will get ready with this no it's not like that okay then participate with the group studies because it is not going to be boring it is going to be uh very motivating and have a good um competitive Spirit among yourself then it is going to boost off your study level also so now coming to the uh weekly flow weekly flow you need to revise at the weekend throughout the week what I did what should be my upcoming plan on the next week okay so this this is your weekly flow then coming to the monthly flow monthly flow is going to be definitely giving you boost because you are going to give some intermediate examination in between the semester and all so you have to uh do the mic review evaluate yourself how much you have progressed what are your drawback where you are getting uh means problem approach your professors and Mentor get feedback and guidance from them okay and apart from this you need to also focus on focus on your personality development skill because at the end of the day your personality matter how you are uh representing yourself in front of somebody okay so this is is also very important so you can work on it and uh coming to the project and uh practical application all those thing is like you need to work on your personal or academic project if your faculty is giving some project also it's fine if not also you can start but this project uh kind of thing whatever you are doing I I would like to suggest you that small small project if it is related to that particular curriculum you can do it but uh don't uh divert yourself to go for a big project it's about personal interest for project I'm telling you academic project if a faculty is giving small small project to you you do it but in first year at least don't go for big project because I have seen also people are very much uh rely on those kind of project and they are not giving importance to their uh DC examination like cat and fat and all those things and they losing marks there so uh you need to be very much focus on that part also because only the first year and second year are having very easy easy courses where you can boost your cgpa after that subjects are going to be bit tough so you can grab more uh cgpa in the first year only okay so if it is your internal assessment kind of thing and that is part of your curriculum then go for that kind of small small project else you can focus on Project during the vacation kind of thing okay personal project you can focus on your vacation kind of thing then apart from this certain things are coming up in the next slide which are heathan and coding and what why it is also important I'll let you know just let's see about the achievement first certain achievement I will give you on case studies then I will tell you how to achieve it also okay one thing is uh Google hash codes nowadays it is not there now Google solution coding problem gck people are telling it okay ACM ICPC competition is there then CSI depth space heathan is there so many competitive coding uh type of competitions are there as well as heathan are there so being a first year student don't divert yourself for all those things first get some programming knowledge then you should try for all those things because if you are not getting ready and divert for this it is just time wasting but I will definitely tell you from second year you should at least try this if you are not achieving also you should try it because you will get little bit knowledge ke how I need to uh submit my application what what what are those strategy to achieve the things okay all those things you will able to understand so P year dedicatedly for the programming skill you should develop okay so let us go for the next part next part next component in your uh resume is your experience okay so we will come to come back to this experience again but I would like to tell you about how to get this experience if you are thinking a person is getting this kind of intern software development intern okay motor CU is one Company software development inter another company is near cast software consultant or trade uh trademarkia software consultant this kind of uh internship you can do it but to achieve this internship you should have to do some uh ground work and ground workor is going to be work out with those project which you are doing in your uh during your uh vacation okay so your vacation should be dedicatedly for project and also you should prepare for the competition coding competition what are those coding competition one coding competition I told you ICPC this is one international level coding competition so if this kind of competition you want to get it then you need to practice in coding platform like hacker rank code ship or a leite code this kind of thing and this is not going to happening when that particular coding competition will come then only I will go for it no it should be at least daily basis one problem or two problem uh easy or medium or tough according to your standard understanding and capability you should start but you should start because if you will not start it is not going to happen and what kind of drawback people are facing as they are not starting it at least you should start it from the second year itself second year means third semester you will definitely completing your data structure part after that you should start for coding practicing thing which will be uh possible with lead code and code Seer rank all those things Okay so let us go for this experience experience this kind of internship if you want to get it then definitely you need to do some project on it prior to this then only you will get it okay so that whenever you are going for internship interview also it is this this this session is not about only job interview it is about internship internship also internship interview also so you need to get ready with this thing that I should have some prior project so that I should tell them that these are the technology I knew and I did my project over there that is going to give you the boost off to get this kind of internship and if you are having good good internship uh in your hand that will boost up to get a good placement okay so let us understand uh there in your resume you need to write where and what kind of position you are doing your internship then what kind of key responsibility you are doing like here the case study is like database architecture optimize the database architecture and one more thing I would like to tell you 80% of performance these are the quantitative value this is also having a very important part after completion of this thing I will tell you why this quantitative value is also very important okay then what kind of Technology you have use express GS OST prrd SQL react GS azer all those things I have used like all those things pointwise you should mention it then coming to the next another another uh experience like another internship so there you need to also mention the timeline from which month to which month you have completed that is also another uh prospective so if you are going to show them two three internship you have done it uh then it is going to very very uh helpful for your resume preparation now in this point of scenario I would like to focus on something uh like many people are thinking that if I will do internship that will be very very much useful but you need to understand that that internship should be Tech oriented it is not like you are putting some of your expertise in your LinkedIn and some people are approaching you for Content writing and all this is not going to help you out because you should focus on the kind of internship which are Tech oriented so that you can explain your work during your interview round in a very confident manner that I knew these kind of Technologies and all okay so uh this is actually I'm uh writing actually this this uh particular uh internship the person has cracked then this one then this one actually so just I wanted to tell you how small small baby step is going to give you a final result and keep your all kind of uh experiences according to the timeline next part is your project because project highlight is very very important here four projects I have mentioned and if you are thinking that these four project projects has been completed at the end of your program like third year or fourth year no it's not like that it is happening in during the gradual period of your btech degree okay so small small project you have to do and you have to also incorporate and there you can give this quantitative value also like 67,000 Pages view 3,000 students okay so these kind of small small projects details you have to give what kind of Technology you have given uh you have used in that part all those things you can also mention in your projects highlight so now this is the last slide but before going to this uh I would like to also focus on certain thing uh like is it always mandatory to go for a placement kind of technical field or some people also need consultancy placement then at that time what kind of resume we should have yeah for if you you want to go for it also you can also focus on your extracurricular uh kind of things and all those things can be helpful if you are going to join different Club so I would like to suggest you if you are choosing clubs then you have to be very much focus on what you want in future there is no point of uh having a uh means uh any non-technical club you are achieving so many thing and if you want to showcase them in technical interview they may not entertain all those things because they wanted to focus on what kind of Technology you knew it and how you are going to uh provide the service to your uh to their company because you need to advertise yourself at the end of the day okay so please maintain a timeline and do all those component fill it one by one so first year you just write down the important component which was in the first slide okay then try to fill it up and one more thing I would like to tell you over here regarding the giup and all so there are so many companies who are going to conduct kind of solution challenges and all and open open source contributions uh communities are also there so if you will go explore their work you can know how people are doing and you can also contribute your uh contribution to towards that particular thing so in one point of time you have to start uh you should not wait till the end what I mean to say and uh apart from this do some of those certification course uh because that certification is also another component in your resume that you can tell I have done this Cloud certification or miml certification or I have completed um the data science certification and all that is also very important so uh please focus on all those component don't get confused if you want to get any kind of help or suggestion you can approach to your Mentor or your professor they can definitely going to help you out uh so to today's session is that's all hope it is going to be very much useful for you and in upcoming session how to start programming skill we are going to focus on it in a generalized way I will tell you and how you should go for specific way also we will discuss on it so the programming point of thing the first part is your problem solving component so we will definitely discuss on problem solving skill that kind of discussion is going to happen in upcoming session okay but you start to learn any of the programming language that is the sincere request to everybody so that you should not struggle whenever you are coming to the uh your first year program and that's all from my side thank you e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e hello Manisha ma'am hello Manisha ma'am hello am I audible hello am I audible uh yes audible okay thank you once share your screen ma'am right is it visible my screen yes Mom is visible ma'am okay from 11:00 please start the S sure sure thank you thank sh e e e for sh sh and sh e e e sh hello good morning everyone so uh today we will uh in this lecture we will revisit the idea of integration so just a second revisit integration so basically this class will be uh very Elementary I hope that you all know about the idea of integration so in this class we will basically recall and uh we will get it connected with uh the ancient approach of finding an integral of a curve or basically uh the area under the curve so uh the idea of the integration uh uh first uh I I want to mention that I hope that you all are introduced with uh the idea of the limit continuity derivatives or differentiability of a function so uh here uh first uh uh I'm going to mention uh a state about integration so if you don't understand it at at first so don't panic we will uh we will learn about it uh through an example okay so basically what is an integral an integral is a continuous analog of summation which is used to find out area volume and there other generalizations all right so uh basically the concept of integration is related to finding area under a curve all right so um in Geometry we all have already known that what uh how to find the area of uh uh the two dimensional figure like like triangle like U square or rectangles or um any of the quadrilateral like trapezoid or like parallelogram so we uh know about the area how to find the area of this shapes or curve so uh basically uh when uh people uh in in in in ancient time when people uh got learned about uh the uh various figures like like Circle or elips or Parabola or hyperbola or or any any of the general curve so they actually found it very difficult or tricky to find out uh their their areas or the area under those curves so if you consider some like this some curve like this and try to find out the area under this curve from this A to B so this basically doesn't look like uh any of the the shape that we already have known I mean it's not like triangle or or rectangle or or any of the squares so how to find the area that always uh that always uh um bothered people that how can we find so if you see our human mind it actually works like that uh when whenever you uh you get into some new problem so you try to find out uh the solution of that problem uh with the knowledge already you have in your mind so here uh people basically do the same thing so they have the idea that how to find out the area of triangle or rectangles or Square or trapezoid or or like any quadrilateral so can we use that idea to find out the area of any general curve or any shape which has curvature so what they do they actually try to cover this area of this curve by rectangles so how first divide this domain or the area into few numbers of rectangles so let me draw the rectangles so you see that these if we if we take the sum of the a of the rectangles then definitely we can get the area under the curve but with some extra areas so this can give an approximation but not accurate one but we need accurately what will be the area of the curve so what did people do so they think that if if we add rectangles more and more or I can say that if we make this rectangle more thin or thinner or we can say refine it more and more then we can get the area more accurately so what does it mean this means that this time I am going to introduce very thinner rectangles so if you see then using if we draw the rectangle then you see that very little amount of area that we will get as an extra size than this one so if we refine more and more more and more then we can actually capture the area under this curve accurately so let just understand this concept with some result with with with an um example consider this example y = to x² you are given this carve and you are required to find the area from 0 to 1 so if I want to go through this way so this is basically called the method of exhaustion so first let me divide this area into four rectangles so with same length of the base so let me draw the rectangle through this okay so let me call this one as R1 this is R2 this is R3 and this is R4 so if we see that this the total area can be area of R1 so I'm just writing it in this way I is = 1 24 and here of each so basically if we see that uh the area of each of the rectangle we can find out so what will be the area of R1 this will be 1x4 that is the base and the height and height is what how can you find the height so you have the point uh over this curve that is yal to x² and you have uh the point x available to you so this point will be 1X 4 1X 16 right similarly what what will be this point you can guess this is half 1X 4 what will be this point on the curve 3x 4 9 by 16 and what will be this point 1 1 so if you want to find out the area of the rectangle R1 so it will be base into height so base 1x4 and height is also 1X 16 okay now plus the area of the rectangle R2 so here the base is same 1x4 and the height is 1x 4 the area of R3 similarly 1X 4 into 9x 6 16 and R4 is 1x 4 into 1 so this will basically give you 15 by 32 which is 0.4 6875 so now if you see you can understand clearly that if we cover this curve with four rectangles then this is the the the total area of the rectangles this is definitely much bigger than the area under this curve yal to x² so what we are going to do we are going to refine it that is we will add more and more rectangles so here I'm not going to uh do the calculation but I will show you what will be the result so here we are putting here number of rectangles and here the total area of the rectangles so as we have seen that if we have four number of rectangles our area will be this 4 6 8 7 5 if we have 100 number of rectangles then what we'll have 0.33 8 3 5 if we have thousand of rectangles then we can see that our area will be 0.333 83 so just like this if we just add infinitely many rectangles then we will get it 0.333 and so on which isal to 1x3 okay so from here what we have learned that this area can be written as summation I = to one to what are this I I are these this points or we can say the nodes this this can be said as node so basically what we have done we take the base and the height and what is the height height is the uh the function value at that point so function value at that point into the base now if we turn this n to INF Infinity we can get the area under the curve so this method is known as as I have already said method of exhaustion so uh through this way people have found out the area of various curves like like circle like uh Parabola or the area under Parabola or the area of U ellipse all these curves or the area of General curve like this y = to x² so now uh I mean thanks to newon and liess actually this the uh this idea idea of finding the area and that the curve is formalized in the way of integration so this is a formal notation of integration this is definite integral because it has the limit limit A to B FX integration of FX D so uh Newton and lies they have actually formalized this idea of integration and this actually get linked with the idea of the differentiation okay so I think you already you might have the I uh you might have heard that integration is the inverse process of differentiation so let me uh put uh the question like this so you know that the derivatives are different are defined Point wise so here we are going to see the link between integration and differenti that we uh if we have the idea about the derivative of the function can we get the function back so derivative these are actually defined pointwise so if you are given the derivative at each of the point in the domain of the definition suppose the domain of the definition of the function is I so o on each point of this I if you have the idea of the derivative or or the value of the derivative can you find the function or can you have some idea about the function how how it can be looked like so you can visualize this how so let me just give you some intuitive idea that suppose you are given a function so when you have the value of the D derivative at each of this point what does it mean you are given the direction of the tangent line at each of these points right so if you try to move along this line a little bit along all these lines a little bit then you uh you can understand or intuitively understand understand that uh adding this adding this up I mean uh the the direction you have the direction and along this direction you are moving very small distance like in finite decimally small distance you are moving along this direction you are moving very small distance again along the um along the tangent line to the next point you are again moving very very small distance so if you keep moving like this you can draw you can actually draw the the function or or you can have the idea that how how will the function look like so this actually give us some intuitive idea that this direction and if we have the infinite decimal length we can have the function back so this can be seen as like this integration of the derivative of the function this can give us the function back so you can say that integrating the derivative will give me the function so in this way you can see that the integration and the differentiation are inverse process in this way that if you integrate the derivative of the function you can get the function back or you differentiate the integral you can get the function back so we will uh we will see its proof also so uh basically from from here from here you can understand that what what we uh already um have seen in the method of exhaustion that we need to uh calculate for in I mean infinitely many rectangles or or or quadrilateral to find the area under the carve and it it is really very very tedious process but here here we uh have already get a formal idea or or or an algorithm to find out the the integral of a function or find out the area of uh area under the curve very simply or or or uh in in terms of uh the derivative okay so from here so the very uh I mean we can we can get uh some idea that if if we want to have the value of the integral can we write this function in terms of derivative of some other function so that we can just have the value of the function as the integration value so yes from here we are going to have the idea of anti-derivative so what is an anti-derivative so if uh for a function FX which is defined on a domain omeg or or I say an interval I so if there exists another function Capital FX on the same domain or I can say differentiable fun and FX the same domain such that we can write the derivative of FX equals to the function FX then this function if is called anti-derivative of small F this capital F is called anti-derivative of small F so if you have one anti-derivative you can have infinitely many anti-derivatives infinitely many how if you seeing this one so this basically say that the derivative of FX plus any c c that is constant so D DX of FX + C this equals to FX so for any c for infinitely many C's you will have this relation so if we have one derivative one anti-derivative then we can have infinite liit so let let me give you some some examples that how this derivative and anti-derivative look like you have already seen these formulas so I I'm just recalling few of them like you have the differentiation of x^ n + 1 / n + 1 as x ^ n so CL so if you see what will be the anti-derivative so integral of xn this equals to xn + 1 by n + 1 + C so from here what we see that this xn + 1 by n + 1 is the anti-derivative of x to the power n so if we integrate the X to the power N Out we will have this x^ n + 1 by n + 1 so similarly you have already seen for this DDX of e to power x this equals to e ^ x X so the anti-derivative e^ x is e^ X itself for other functions like log X you have this so you you can get the idea where X is not equals to zero so you get ideas right so you can see that how it it is becoming easy to find out the area under the curve using this anti-derivative or the differentiation of any of the function right the idea of the differentiation so uh we are uh let me mention about few of the fun questions more and then we will see few results so DDX of sin x you know that it is cos x so basically integration of cos x will give you sin x + C all right so I think uh you have already uh known about the other trigonometric uh functions the derivative and the integral so here I'm not mentioning all of them so here we will see a result so um we got some idea about the the statement that integration and differentiation are inverse process to each other so if it is like this so can we say that DDX of integrating FX is this equal to integrating DDS of FX is this exactly equal can you get any idea from from these results that we have already okay so let us see are they exactly equal or there is something else so for this function FX let Capital FX + C be the anti-derivative so what does it mean it means DDX of FX + C this equals to FX right so if we uh let's see first this one left hand side okay so this is integrating if we integrate the FX and do the differentiation right so what we have DDX of FX + C so from here we will have DDX of FX + C right and here from here what we will have ifx right from here now if I see rhs we have integration DDX of FX so what it will give we can write FX + C right so this will give FX + C so this both LHS and rhs they are not exactly equal but they are equal in some sense that is with respect to with with added with some con okay so they are indeed inverse process but uh with respect to some constant added with the function all right okay so uh uh here I want to mention few properties you have already known about that so if we uh uh if I want to write the properties in terms of uh mathematical uh words so it will be like this that integration is closed under addition and scalar multiplication so don't get worried about what I have written this basically mean that if you take the integration of two function the sum of two functions then you can actually get them separated like this or this K is real number or constant or scalar so this multiplied with f and integrating of this function this actually the function multiplied with the integration okay you can also prove this in the same way so here I'm not going to prove all these results so basically what we are going to do we are going to recall few of the examples that actually involves the idea of the anti-derivatives okay so whatever we have seen today as a definition we will apply this to a few of the examples so example one this is going to be very easy for you so it's integrating x^ 3x 2 + 2 e ^ x - 1X X DX so using the above results you can write it as x^ 3x 2 + 2 integrating E power xus integrating 1 by X you can always write DX DX DX all over here so now integrating x^ 3x 2 so we know that what will be the anti-derivative so this will be x^ 5 by 2 right ided by 5x 2 + 2 e^ x - log X + C so this example you can work it out so now we move to another examples where you need to first um you need to First calculate few things and then you can get the anti-derivative form so can you do this X Cub + 4 x² - sorry + x - 6 / x² + 2x DX okay so I'm hoping that you are doing it on yourself but here I'm also going to work out for you if any any one of you are getting any difficulty in solving these problems so first I'm giving you one minute to think about it how you are going to solve this one and then I will show you how to solve so what we do here first look at the denominator you have this factor x into x + 2 now you look at the numerator now there will be an obvious choice that can we cancel this X or x + 2 with the numerator so here we need to factorize so if you see this numerator you can get this idea that x uh = to 1 is one of the root so if x = 1 is one of the roots so how to factorize this you already have an idea yeah I hope but here I will show you if x = to 1 is one of the root so you basically want to have this x - one out so what you will have X Cub so - x² that means that you need to add 5 x² here to get this 4 x square right sorry x -1 and then here you have - 5x so to get this plus X you need to have 6 into x -1 so here you are getting this x² + 5 x + 6 into X - 1 and from here you can get the similar way x + 2 into x + 3 into X - 1 so here you you can see that we have this x + 2 x + 2 here so if we put in the integral what do we have X - 1 into x + 3 / X right so further what you can do you can just multiply them x² + 2 x - 3 by X and uh then work it just separate them out 2 - 3x X so you will have x² by 2 + 2 x - 3 log X + C right I hope you are getting the idea now move to the next example so can you work out this one e to the power 2 log X - e to power - log X / e^ 2 l x - E I hope you have noted it down so how can we proceed can we write it x² - 1 byx x² - 6 we can write it right all then what to do on the denominator we are having x² X - 1 right numerator we having X Cub - 1 so from here we are having x -1 x² + x + 1 x² X - 1 so this will get cancelled out and you are having DX + DX by x + DX by x² and I think you have already the idea how to integrate all this out because we already have the anti-derivatives okay all right let's move to the next so now here I'm going to give you this one sin x into cos 3x into sin 5X DX how do you do that you have three function multiplied with each other so there is several ways right so you can use this formula s a sin a COS B and then multiply by sin 5x and you can uh repeat that formula again right or you can take this cos a sin B and proceed with the same way so here I'm uh considering sin a COS B so this will give sin 4x - sin 2x into sin 5x DX now here again sin 4X sin 5x and you will have sin 2x sin 5x so again we are having the sin a sign B formula and I think you remember that so this will be cos x - cos 9 x - cos 3x + cos 7 and from here you have the idea of anti-derivatives of all these functions and you can integrate it out so what will you have for cos x you will have sign right from here 1X 9 sin 9x 1X 3 sin 3x 1 by 7 7 all right let's move to the next question how do you integrate it out DX y 1 by root 1 + sin x let me give you the idea so you have one over here [Applause] right so let's do this one multiply this 1 - sin x and both numerator and denominator and you will have the so what will you have move to the next question sin x by otk over 1 + 6 DX in the same way we have to manipulate it so uh let me give you just the idea and I ask you to do the calculation on yourself so if you have sinx so you can write it as 1 minus cos² X and you are having this 1 + cos x right then what you have to do you will have 1 - 4 6 right so 1 - 6 you can also write it as 1 - cos 2 into X by 2 right 1 - 2 cos Theta so what it will give 2 sin s x by 2 right so this is given < tk2 sin x by 2 DX and now I think you can find out the integral so let me move to next question here uh I think I'm not able to give you the solution so here I'm going to give you the question you please work out on your own to just recall all those things okay so next question is please write it down cos thet by Sin alus Sin Theta D Theta okay so here uh let me just uh give you very rough idea you use the the formula for cos 2 Theta and cos 2 Alpha and just put it down and do some calculation you find that you will get this form 2 into sin Alpha + sin Theta okay just reach up to here and you can have the solution next question is cos 2x + sin x / 1 + 2 sin DX here also I'm giving you the last part that if you do some calculation here with this cos 2x then you can reach to 1 - sin x so just uh get to have in the numerator just try to get uh 1 + 2 sin x then this 1 + 2 sin x will be uh cancel out from numerator and denominator and you can have this 1 - sin x so this is the hint next question is integrate 1 + sin x by2 so here you are having you will have the formula for 2 sin a sin 2 Sin Sin 2x so from here you will have this one s x by 4 + cos x by 4 try to reach from here to here you can have the solution next question is sorry hello am I audible am I audible yes ma'am you are audible oh uh is is the time is over is the time over uh the session is still 12:00 ma'am you still have around 5 10 minutes so okay okay it's up to you you want you can continue with one more problem if you want thank you thank you very much I just need two minutes more okay no problem thank so here I want to mention about two more questions uh yeah 10 so here just try to reach up to sin x by 4 + cos x by 4 just using uh using the formula for sin 2x you can reach up to here and you can find the integral the next question is try to find out integration tan inverse 1 + cos x / by sinx so as you have tan inverse so your idea should be try to get tan out of it okay from this expression 1 + cos x by sin x so if you do some manipulation you will have ultimately this one tan inverse tan > by 2 - x by 2 try to reach from here to here and the last question is this tan inverse root over 1 - sin x / 1 + sin x so from here also G using the same tricks for 1 - sin x and 1 + sin x because if you see it as Sin 2X then you will have cos x by 2us sin x by2 just just let me write it down from the last one so from here you will have cos x by 2- s uh X by2 or or or the other one X by 2 + sin x by 2 and divide uh the denominator and numerator by cos x by2 then you will have the expression of tan < by 4 - x by 2 and then you will have from here integration < by 4us X by 2 DX which will lead to 5 by 4x - x² by 4 + C so I hope you have already written all this things down and please try to do to work out all those things so that you can recall the idea of the anti-derivatives for different kind of functions okay so that's all thank you for today e LXI man hello s yeah now what is next uh your voice is audible sir please share the screen sir is visible or not okay just check so it is visible sir your screen second okay it's is it moving oh yes sir moving okay 12:00 should start yes thank three hello e e e good afternoon all my name is Dr sadesh manger and I'm an assistant professor at Bap University in the school of social science and Humanities so today we are going to discuss what uh language matters and the importance of of communication so when I talking about the importance of communication I don't have to tell you how English actually shapes the world and how it helps you to grow as a student and as an employee at the same time in your personal skills so overall today in this particular lecture we are going to deal and understand how English plays an important or The crucial role in shaping your career as a student or as an employee and it helps you in a personal interaction during your life in the campus in the office at the same time when you go abroad so uh the topic of the day is language matters importance of communication skills so when you look at this particular picture you see there are multiple languages which are spoken across the world so you have Hindi you have Bengali you have Spanish you have Portuguese Italian German English Russian Persian Punjabi so on so on telu Hindi and multiple other languages so if you look at the entire world and the population we speak multiple languages right so every country in fact every state and within the state there are more than one or two languages that is spoken and suddenly it comes to the idea why English why are we speaking in English one is it's a global language right there must be something something that must have happened in the past because of which English has become one of the global languages so everyone speaks in English all of us have to speak in English and um even teaching even learning books that you have the presentation that goes the interview that happens everything happens in English so how all of us actually started learning English apart from learning our mother tongue that's something that we need to uh look at it in the beginning so that it would be very helpful for us to understand the domination of English right normally when you see when you look at this but give me a second just I'll go a little bit of ahead so when you look at this particular map it takes a little bit time so just wait for a few seconds so it changes so it's 1550 you can see how English slowly is increasing its dominance the orange right and 1754 that by this time the British India 18822 you can see the rise of English now you can see the complete rise of English it has become so popular look at this right so this actually is the map of colonialism right what is colonialism colonialism means when entire Europe when a particular country colonizes over the other one or rules over the other one imposes its rules and regulation it imposes its policies so that is colonialism so in the in the 16th and 17th and 18th century it was mostly you can say in fact 14th century onwards it was the rise of colonialism so all the countries like Spain Portugal Germany Spain uh Russia England everyone was moving towards going towards or let's say to Across the world and they were ruling the countries like so and slowly from you can say 15th to 16th century onwards or in fact 17th century onwards and to an ex 18th century England became the most powerful the British Empire right they became the most powerful country in the entire world and they started to rule almost every country to Asia to Africa to America to everything so because of that English became the language of those particular countries wherever they went and they ruled so they left of course British India after the war of independence in all the countries where British was ruling they had to leave their country and then go back to England but when they went to England they did not go alone they left English in those places so it became slowly it was only one of the few languages which was spoken by majority of the countries so in order to come together as a nation or as a friend for let's say the economic benefits or for anything all these countries came together and they had to communicate in one language because all of them were speaking different language so they used English because they already knew a little bit of English so they used English as the medium of communication so from then onwards English started to gained momentum and started to become the global language and how it became the medium of communication for all the official purposes so that's when England or English became the most popular languages but when you look at it if in today's world 1.5 billion it's more than 1.5 billion people speak English and then you have mandarin which is Chinese uh which is spoken in Chinese one of the forms of Chinese language and Hindi so despite the fact that China and India if you look at this particular map have the highest population now India has crossed I think more than 1.43 billion and China and India together we have more than 2 point I think it's more than three plus um billion people and if you look at these three are major countries like United States United Kingdom Canada and Australia the highly populated only English spoken countries the comp if you combine all these things it's not even half of India or it's almost on the India so despite the fact why is English the global language so it's spoken by the majority the countries right it is spoken by everyone so Hindi of course it's 6.10 million but look at the population of India it's not even none of the countries have 6.10 sorry yeah none of the countries right it's if United States 3 and 40 so despite the fact that these English speaking countries have a least population compared to India and China they English spoken in majority of the countries so then you can see why English so important look at this today why do we have to learn English that's one of the first thing that comes to your mind the internet is completely dominated by English right whether you type in Hindi or Telugu we are using English letters sometimes we use Telo but sometimes we use Hindi scripts so like they scripts but despite the fact very few people do that majority of us use English scripts but most of us communicate in English so this is one of the languages which is spoken in Internet which means that we have to access only in English so all of us use YouTube Instagram Facebook and any communication that you use internet is the LIF line of the Contemporary generation for economy to survive for us to for for an entertainment purpose for Education purpose for anything even this particular Google meet that we're using we have to use in English and the presentation that we are making so now based on that we need to understand what is the significance of English in modern education so we so far we looked at how English is used by almost everyone across the world and how English has dominated as a language across the world and people are to an extent forced to speak only in that particular language in order to remove English as a global language we need to replace it with some another another language and I don't think there is another language which is spoken by majority of the people the next could be French and Spanish but most of us do not speak French and Spanish and the medium of instruction that you have in the schools and colleges are not in French and Spanish so Chinese is obviously spoken by huge number of population but that is restricted to one country right when you go beyond China I think except Hong Kong and some of the South Asian countries Chinese is hardly spoken it's mostly spoken by the Chinese people who live across the world but when it comes to English it is spoken by native at the same time non-native speakers so because of that it has a complete domination Over The World Market over the world in terms of communication so because of that we are to an extent you can say forced to study and learn things in English so now and then when you look at India India was actually ruled by British for more than 200 years and the medium of instruction if you look at India we are completely diverse multilingual and Multicultural country right you have Hindi you have harandi you have Tamil telu even within South Indian states you have Andra Pradesh and Telangana speaking in Telugu you have Tamil Nadu speak in Tamil and then you have Karnataka speaking in and K speaking in Mal Malayalam so in order to communicate with each other and all of us do not speak in Hindi and even in not entire North does not speak in Hindi right so we need to come up with one education or one education format or one language which is used by most of us and it is not now the global market is expanding so our student are not just going from north to south south to East we are going Beyond India right you can learn in the mo um in your mother tongue but what happens when you learn in mother tongue you limit your education system you limit your understanding or you limit your boundary within your state it would be difficult for us to survive beyond our state if we do not learn English right you can definitely be focused in telu and speak only telu or Tamil or Hindi or Nepali but that would restrict my reach Beyond Nepali Community I cannot do anything in if if I make some let's say an application which is only for Nepali audience then or which is written and inscripted or everything in Nepali it will be only available for Nepali people but if I do it in English it will be available for everyone at the same time if I am expert in Nepali and do not learn anything in English what happens I will not have access to global resources right you have resources across the globe you know what is happening in us you know the present generation for instance you guys despite the fact that you're registered at vit AP University and then you get classes here The Faculty are there to teach but if you want to know more Beyond if you want to experiment or if you want to see what kind of teachings or courses that is being offered by Howard by Oxford by MIT and you want to learn or you to listen to their lectures it is a available only in English so you have to uh learn or in fact you have to learn English at any cost in order to access the global resources and it does enhance your academic opportunity right if you are a coder or if you are a web designer if you are a content creator or content writer for instance if you create a movie um of course these days movie industry you can see when even if some of the biggest Telo movies they are made in Telo but at the same time when they have to show it to the global audience it has to be translated into English because they cannot enjoy they can definitely enjoy the uh the visuals of telu movie but when in order to understand the dialogue and the communication that goes between the different characters they have to learn they have to translate that into or dub that into English otherwise we'll restrict ourself right and then we'll discuss about the career advancement so now this is look at this this is a very very typical or quintessential office space in today's world right particularly those of you who want to go and study and work in US UK Germany and other places you will have people from across the world right even in India if you look at it this is absolutely an indan scenario you have people if you go and work in Hyderabad or bangal Delhi Kolkata or Bombay you will find B people from across states and countries so which language would you use you have to use in English right if you're not good in English what happens it impacts your communication which means you would interact less with each other and the less interaction means less sharing of ideas so you're not sharing any ideas with each other you're not learning any new ideas from each other so slowly it keeps you let's say uh let's say beyond the group or outside the group so when you're not within the group whether you are in Tel group Nepali group or Hindi group you have to have your own group right if you if for instance for me if I stay and restrict myself within Nepali community and then I do not want to let's say I go to an office I Join one particular office for instance you can say weo I'm working in weo or Accenture or Google and then let's assume that there are more than 10 people working within my project and who are from Nepali background and who know um how to speak in Nepali so I speak in Nepali what happens is my understanding of project because all of us are coming from the same Community same background so we will have a obviously a cultural similarity but we cannot incorporate the new ideas which somebody from let's say a Tamil background can give it to us because our Outlook to an extent would be quite similar right in order to bring a different Outlook to the new product that we are launching the new idea that we are projecting the New Concept that we are introducing can have multiple other problems or cultural implication that can be harmful or that can be um maybe you can say fatal or that can be detrimental to a project if somebody comes from another Community can highlight so it improves the quality of the project so new more people diverse people multi lingual Multicultural means multiple aspects so you're looking at it from multiple PE uh multiple angle which improves the quality of your idea your pitch your project so we have already looked at this now in the global competitiveness right there is an international opportunity so if you're really good at certain things for instance you're really good at coding for instance you're really brilliant astrophysicist right you can see AK ramanan the life of AK ramanan if you read about it if you um have see that watch the documentary or the movie about how ramanan became the ramanujan that is known as one of the greatest mathematicians of all time right it is because of the global exposure that he got I'm not giving all the credits to UK I'm not giving all the credits to England I'm not giving all the credits to Oxford and Cambridge wherever he studied but to an extent we have to understand that those are the people who gave them the opportunity when he started to work uh give his uh writing and give his idea shared his idea to larger audience in Oxford I think he studed in Oxford I'm sorry I don't know exactly but he most probably he started in Oxford Cambridge so he went there and then he started to share his ideas and then his work was published and his um thesis was published whatever things that he did it was published and it was available to the larger audience that's when he became so popular similarly I'm sure there are thousands of other great minds that lived in India who could not gain the same kind of popularity or maybe their ideas were not passed on from one generation to the other generation most probably they were written in their mother tongue and people did not pay attention to it and slowly it maybe over the period of time it got lost somewhere right that could be one of the reasons we have I think when you look at it right and as an audience for today if you want to work in a places like Google or Microsoft you need to be really good in English you cannot say that I want to work in Google and Microsoft but in Hyderabad office if you Telo or if I'm Bengali I cannot say I want to work in Kolkata office and just be deal with bengalis in Bengali right if you want a promotion if you want to go because these companies are across the world right today they might get you might get an offer from um that's a Google M um gur where majority of the people speak in Hindi and then if you don't know how to speak in Hindi and you have to speak in English and normally that for everyday communication they speak in Hindi but when it comes to office conversation it has to happen in English so because of that and then when you want to go to France you want to go to Germany you can go to UK or other places you have to learn how to speak in English right so that's one of the international opportunities that you get as a as an English speaker when it comes to research and Innovation all these research and Innovation all these ideas the hackathon all these uh big um convocations all these different conferences research papers and all these things are done in English so how do you get access to the latest technology and what are the goods and bads about the latest technology what are the things that is happening in the technical world or the world of science or anything how do you get to know about it through Reading and how do they how do what do you read you read the technological advancement that has been uh recently discovered or recently been tested in us they test something something extremely um Advanced or Cutting Edge technology they publish it in journal and you read it through which you get the idea maybe when you look at it most of us we already know uh the kind of changes that has uh taken place in Indian agricultural system see it's not like earlier right 20 years back when you think about Indian agricultural system it was quite uh traditional in method right I would not say and and to an extent you can also use the word inefficient or not productivity Centric but today with the in intervention of Technology there are a lot of things that can be done which can improve the quality of the life of farmers at the same time the quality of the output that they would produce and less labor intensive and more productive right so that is something that we need how would you do it when you interact with each other something that India develops and then India gives it to the rest of the world or maybe something Russia develops and then Russia gives it to rest of the world but that is available only in one language right English otherwise if they write it in Russian then you need to find one Russian people right and then global global collaboration how do you collaborate because there are some people who want to be an entrepreneur and you want to specifically focus and stay in India but you need the global exposure you can develop something and keep it for Global people there are big funding agencies there are big companies who are coming up with The Cutting Edge Technologies uh who actually sorry who want to fund for Cutting Edge Technologies and they are not worried about whether that person belongs to India Africa UK us or anything any good idea right and that you never know what is happening so most probably you are working a mechanical engineering student working on one car and then that is maybe environmental friendly and which obviously deals with the new forms of renewable energy and what is that the green energy and if it makes a better idea or if it is better suited to to the Contemporary audience to the Contemporary Global Market to the Contemporary requirement and if another country another country or another big industry in us or UK is working on the same kind of project they can call you and find out that you are working on this idea and maybe they are trying to collaborate with someone who is working on the similar idea in the third world country or in a developing country or a country like India which has a huge customer base they will collaborate with you so how do you collaborate you need to for that you need language it is absolutely impossible to collaborate without otherwise every time you talk to each other you need a translator that's also a language expert right so in the challenges now comes the idea of most of our regional medium now sorry uh when it comes to India we have students coming from English medium background at the same time non-english medium background we have a major problem right we I don't have to tell you what are the problems that we Face from Nursery till class 12 you study in your Regional medium for instance Nepali Hindi telu Tamil so you study in that particular language the text that you read the the way you express and everything is done in that so one of the biggest problems that we have is all these technical lectures Science and Technology though we have translated lot of scientific text and Technical text into a med Regional medium but it is difficult because those terminologies that you read are very very complicated and difficult so it becomes more difficult and especially when you come to places like vit University or mostly the university setup or International level University or national level University the premier institutes they all speak in English every instruction every lecture every interaction within the class has to be in English so how do you cooperate that's one of the big problems that we need right we need to deal with that particular problem because and suddenly if somebody is expert for example um is good at learning language and they start learning over the period of time that person can overcome with that particular uh issues then comes the idea of confidence issues right it is it's always like we have a very very low self-esteem facing an audience in one way is always is the biggest challenge that all of us face right whether you know English Hindi or Telugu or whichever language that you have to speak if you have to go and present it in that particular language and if you have to to if you have to speak in front of 10 people it's absolutely difficult and on top of that if you don't know how to speak in English and if you have to make presentation in English the biggest problem that for that for you or for me or anyone would be on how to speak or what to say that like I think I will make an mistake I know I will make mistake because I don't know how to speak in English I really struggle to communicate or speak in proper English so that becomes one of my biggest problems forget about the content that I have to deal with because the content of the topic that you are presenting the content of topic that you're dealing becomes the secondary issue the primary issue here becomes how to speak so in imagine you're dealing with some of the most important aspects like I don't know what are the things that you deal in physics I know few topics like for example um I would say um String Theory or I would say magnetism or I would say any other topics when you're dealing with those things those are complicated Concepts those are extremely difficult topics but that becomes the secondary issue because here how do you express that in English I know how what is string theory I know each and everything about the string theory I read it I've understood the problems I have also identified the problems now the problem for me is how to explain it to the people in the presentation so that impacts your confidence level right and no matter how good you are in Telugu and most probably or Hindi or Nepali even if I'm extremely brilliant student in physics and have read everything in Nepali that is a limited option because they can translate all the text related to physics or for instance my area of specialization in in Nepali but not all right because in English the papers are produced again and again every day there is a new Journal there is a new paper there is a new thing that has been published that people cannot translate into my language all the time it takes time so if somebody comes up with the new technology it it comes comes up with an Innovative idea it needs time to get translated into my language and should be um be available for me until then I would be uh maybe if if it takes around three months after 3 months any technology becomes old right the technology has to be new and I'm getting the for me in Nepali it will become a Cutting Edge technology but for people who are speaking in English they will say yeah this was done three months back almost four months back and you're reading about it now that's an old paper that's an old idea right so that's one of the point for academic success right understanding the lecture I will give you an example of some of our students right I as a student I uh most of us when I study in uh Nepali medium background or Hindi medium background what happens I go to us classroom I come to places like VAP or IIT or jnu or university of Hyderabad I go to a class and then I see my friends who come from English medium background right India is unique and complex you have students who go to cbsc IC and then you have stateboard and then you have different boards right at the same time you have people who studied in high class English medium school and then we also have government schools where they hardly teach anything in English so all of you are in one class and your faculty is teaching you in English so those students who have been listening to English from the beginning for them to understand that particular lecture would not be difficult right whether they pay attention or not that's allog together a different question but for a person who doesn't know how to speak in English or who doesn't understand English no matter how hard they try and listen to the lecture it would be difficult for them to understand the other person whereas they know the the other student who knows how to speak in English and who is really good at English that person just has to sit and pay a little bit of attention they would understand most of it or in fact after the class they will go and ask the lecture right for example if those students when they don't understand certain thing in the class what they do is they stand and say that sir I didn't understand this problem ma'am I could not understand that particular concept from maybe let's say step three I could not understand what how did you do that particular calculation I didn't understand that right they can communicate that properly so when it comes to people like me who doesn't know how to speak in English how would I ask that question now the question that I have not understood is the secondary issue the major issue is how should I ask question and if I ask question does that make sense can I speak in front of these people who speak excellent excellent English of course not so slowly it brings a kind of inferiority complex in me and I would start thinking that oh my God I don't want to speak in front of the class because it's embarrassing because I don't know how to speak in English I don't want to speak I'll let it be I'll go and watch in YouTube maybe I'll go and study and you already know you have burden of so many subjects you have other papers most probably by the time you reach home you would forget that oh where did I miss I don't know what which one I didn't understand so then it bends today you have one tomorrow you'll have two by the time you finish your semester you will have lot of bending doubts right so which means that you're academically it takes your understanding level goes around and then if you have not understood the basic level how do you go to the advanced level absolutely not possible for anyone to go to the advanced level if you're not good with the basics so that's when so first year your first year goes wrong the moment the first year goes WR wrong it impacts your second year third year fourth year you will have a backlog we will end up having a backlogs not just one student and then suddenly you feel like okay I I think I I am a bad student I I don't think I know how to study most probably till last 12 I was a Topper I don't know what is happening to me I think I've have lost everything so that's what so it impacts your confidence level right so and then uh academic writing or resources access I already told you right and sometimes like uh I really want to explore what is global teaching what is happening in the global University what is happening in some of the best universities across the world these days these materials are available in YouTube so there are some uh lectures great lectures from Harvard Oxford give me two seconds I'll drink water good lectures from uh iits nits Oxford Howard MIT jnu University of hadath XY Z they would upload it in YouTube but they upload only in English even that becomes your availability right that becomes inaccessible for you you know it is available in your YouTube your YouTube is in your hand it's just a click of a button but you cannot access because I don't know how to speak in English oh how would I do an in fact some of them speak in different accent right British they have a different accent American different accent first of all for me the major problem is I don't know how to speak in English the basic level of English and I'm dealing with the faculty who actually are from UK or us and they speak different kind of English and even if in order to enhance my skill further to learn some um further technical skills I need to register in different online platforms or different off online platforms where everything happens in English so slowly this actually this becomes a major problem for me so for for me as a uh student who doesn't know how to speak in English or who does not pay attention to English uh my major problem in academic uh world would be to understand the lecture in English and fight with how to master that particular language rather than understanding the concept of physics math or chemistry or computer science or electri electrical engineering or mechanical engineering those issues the technical issues the Java the C++ the web designing and all these becomes the secondary issue whereas those issues not understanding how to design a web or not understanding how to edit a video should be my major problem but here my major problem is how to learn on the instructions that is given for web designing is the major problem that I have been facing right and then you have a multicultural and multilingual University life because as a student you also have a different life right you have a classroom life at the same time you have outside classroom life right the university programs offers various type of types of events right you have to participate in it always is good to participate in different kind of programs cultural exchanges that happens in the University you have to make friends people friends who come from different places so to be friends you need to have a Common Language and you might have a friends who are really good and they speak of in English so within India you can somehow manage if I sure most of us know a little bit of Hindi and there are some students who don't know how to speak in Hindi and somehow the other you would manage you would speak in broken Hindi broken English and you speak to your Indian students and Indian friends within bit or any of the Indian institutes that's not a big issue but some of us have a big dreams you want to finish your btech at VAP and then you want to go for higher studies to us to UK to Germany to Canada to Australia so there you cannot expect to have the same set of friends right all of us cannot afford to go or all of us would not get it admission in the same colleges or universities outside India so then what would you how would you engage with them your academic otherwise it would be a boring life for you you go to college or university you do your Masters there you go to your classrooms you listen to the lectures try and work really hard understand it come back to your room study room and your college there won't be any student life you need to have a friends and even if you do that you need a group project so how do you work on a group project you need to communicate with the people in India you somehow managed with the broken Hindi broken English or broken Telo but how would you manage it in other places in UK or us or Germany or Canada you have to speak in English they only speak and understand proper English they don't understand broken English maybe they will try to understand but why would somebody put an extra effort to understand my broken English they would not they would say okay you don't work in our team because I cannot communicate with you so then I have to look for another friends and the other friends would also tell me the same thing oh so they should let's not take work with you because he doesn't know how to speak in English and we don't want to work really hard in understanding his English rather than our major problem is solving this technical issue so in multilingual or Multicultural University especially outside India or even within India it becomes very difficult for us and academic life is just a part and parcel of our sorry nonacademic curricular activities are part and parcel of our academic life right as a student you have to be a part of clubs and Chapters at Bap we have multiple clubs and multiple chapters where you can explore the other talents that you have whether you can um understand the um the the the the let's say the creative level of you for instance you have English literary Club where you we organize different kind of Dramas the debates the discussions and the B clups then you also have the dance clubs you also have a coding clubs but in all these clubs you have to work as a team not as an individual so when you work as a team you need to talk to each other so for that it makes your life better because with interaction by participating in these kind of clubs what happens you explore further you understand more and then you become actually a better person and a confident person right it improves your confidence level which is something that most of our faculty have noticed in our uh the present students who are actually a part of almost all the clubs and who actively take part and interact with multiple students so this is something that you guys need to keep in mind everyday life campus right effective communication social networking utilizing Captain canus resources because these are the clubs and chapters are your resources you need to use and even as a hostel some of you are going to stay in the hostel so your roommates could be from another place you need to have a good roommate you need to have a good connection with the other right the friendship and the bonding that you create with each other is important it's not that language right so we'll do this now comes the idea of job this is the most important aspects right job employes expectation what is employes expectation you look at the job profile if you look at the job call application call for job application everywhere everywhere and everywhere they write Proficiency in English I don't know why even if you're applying for the post of mathematician they would say Proficiency in English even if you're applying for the post of physicist they say Proficiency in English even if you apply for the post of a quarter they say Proficiency in English why do they ask for an excellent communication skills that's one of the lines that is there in almost every interview it's not just for the English faculty or faculty from social science and Humanities it is for everyone whether you're applying for English book or job which is related to English or job which is not at all related to English something like coding a core coding they say excellent communication skills because you do not stay within your coding world you have to do outside the coding world for instance once you work for example I had the I have the experience of working in the BP right how English helps in corporate world right sometimes you come with the beautiful idea sometimes you come with the most creative idea to solve some of the problems that our project or team or our team in the office are facing so you solve that particular problem and that problem you need to pitch it to your higher management and those higher management will P it to the high management if it requires budget it needs to be approved by the higher authority so how do you present it you need to present it in English you cannot present it in Hindi or telu or Nepali or any other language it has to be presented in English one you can do is you can give that project to your friend and say that okay you take the credit just tell them that I worked but in corporate industry people who present people who your job actually in corporate industry it's a Cutthroat industry where you should now people don't give credit so you have to really work hard to get credit and especially when you have worked really hard they will be other people who would try to steal your credit they would say yes I've also been a part of this particular project so they can get promotion but if you're not there to represent yourself and your work who is going to listen to you how would you get a promotion how would you get an increment right even job application there are a lot of univ sorry companies who would ask you to write a a cover letter an effective resume and cover letter matters a lot when you're going for a new job right they look at you they read your cover letter they read your resume and then based on that they will call you for an interview it is an if you have an interesting or impressive resume and cover it people would be impressed by your work and they would definitely call you for an interview at least they see yeah this particular person has a good and impressive uh cover letter or resume right and then based on that you can send the same thing to multinational companies because companies like Amazon and Google and Facebook they need a brilliant CV they cannot take any kind of local or average CV right you can write an average CV because Cav letter it requires a precise concise and proper language grammatically correct language and you have to communicate to your thoughts in short in a very very limited word space so that can be done only by people who are expert only people who are very very clear in what they have right it's not just about understanding but it's also about explaining it through language in written at the same time spoken format spoken you have other means your hand gestures your body language other things to communicate but when it comes to written it's only the language in the words so how do you use and manipulate those words to express your feeling at the same time impress the other person that's the skill which very few people have and if you're not good at English obviously this becomes a big problem for you look at this hiring challenges and statistics that I this particular picture have got it from LinkedIn it says that 60% of the recruiters says that Talent shortage is the biggest problem that's one of the biggest problem right the talent shortage one of the that's you can see in India right very common common problem majority of us lack basic skills and then 41% of the recruiters says that entry level positions are the hardest to fill why we have to ask questions to why 76% of hiring managers admit attracting the right candidates is the greatest challenge I don't think they are attracting the right candidates in a sense because they receive a resume and then they reject it most of the time because we don't represent properly in our resume the skills that you have you don't even know what are those companies asking for when they put an advertisement or call for a job application they give you clearcut information that these are the things that we are looking for what do we do first we need to understand that what they are looking for and then you need to match your resume or customize your resum according to what is their requirement that's why that is not matching the right C candidates it's not that uh a completely different candidate most of the time the right candidate means that they don't know how to communicate properly in a sense that they do not uh how would I call um they do not uh match the kind of requirements that they have in a sense maybe you are good at statistics or maybe you're good at web designing but this particular company is looking for someone who's good at coding and then you focus more on web designing rather than coding that is a mismanagement and then 75% of the recruiters have noticed an increase in salary negotiation from their candidates how do you negotiate the art of negotiation is all about language right you get the job offer everything is fine you're good there this this this happening and the final round they say okay what is your salary expectation that is because at the end of the day we have to access the fact that we all work for salary so how do you negotiate you need to negotiate properly you need to negotiate in a language you have to be very very persuasive at the same time logical reasonable you cannot negotiate with someone else something like if you go to a particular shop you go to different places there are some people the sales people they are so good at manipulating you right because they are extremely good at language so you need to manipulate the HR the team who's the recruiting for people or the recruiters so you need to know how to manipulate that can happen only through language so you have to have that kind of language linguistic skills in order to negotiate a higher salary or better post or better locations in fact because there are companies who have multiple locations so you can ask for you can ask for G provided you communicate clearly to them why they would definitely ask okay why do you want to go to guro okay we need only in we have opening in guram and Hyderabad but I think I'll put you in hyat and you want to be in gam you it requires an art of negotiation that is not happening right in the placement you have group discussions technical intervie interviews these two both interviews aptitude test mostly it is in written format but group discussions that happens in English spoken format that's one of the biggest rounds and the most difficult rounds to crack most of the people get rejected in group discussion it's because they don't know how to speak articulate their thoughts they don't know how to um communicate or they don't know how to argue with each other that becomes a major problem in the technical interview you know your technical ideas you already know what are the things that you have to do you know what are the problems that you have faced and you you know what are the problems that you have solved but explaining that to your uh recruiters is a big problem most probably they might not understand you have dealt with one of the biggest problems and your uh whatever challenges that you have faced and whatever problems that you have solved in your project or in your report is one of the hutting edge Technologies and issues that you have dealt or the most relevant topics that's something that they might not understand if it is not communicated properly right this is a office presentation if you look at this particular picture most probably you have come up with the brilliant idea how do you explain it to your PE that's a big challenge so everything when it comes to communication everything becomes an important factor that it's not just for the everyday life it is for the office and it is for this so now with this let me conclude by saying that so all of us have to understand that communication is not the thing right I would not say that you everything communication you should focus only and only in communication you have to improve in your technical skills but all these things it enhances a better communication skills enhances your other skills it helps you to express or prove that you are good at coding it helps you to sell your thought it's it helps you to uh persuade the other people to invest more on you it helps you to uh uh how would I call attract the recruiters and helps you to get a better job it helps you to communicate better or excel in during the job or while working or as an academician or as anything okay so within this next whatever 3 to four years that you're going to spend at viit AP one of your major focus should be on enhancing your communication skills so that we can land up with a better job we can go to other countries and excel in life okay so any issues that you have I will be here and most probably I'll be teaching one of the courses with you I don't know how many of us will be in the same class rooms but despite the fact that I'll be available at viap in ab2 blog whenever you meet across we can discuss and take help from any of the English faculty or any other faculty and we will be glad to help you and help you improve your communication skills so with that I will conclude the session thank you so much okay so the session I think it is a lunch time so um lakmi mam I think we can conclude the session okay then I'll log out from the session so uh I think we'll have other session tomorrow so I think this is the last session of the day and if there is another session l m will continue thank you e e e
