okay so I wanted to furthest in I found my my notes for part of the disorders chapter where for a very brief period of time I worked at a place called the Porterville Developmental Center of course it was in Porterville this is when I was a student at BC actually and there I worked with autistic adults and it was a beautiful Center there were so many group home facilities there I mean there's it was like a little community there were like three different denominations of churches there was a bowling alley there was a store as a movie theater there was a rec center it was amazing place but slowly it started getting turned into a prison and a weird thing happened where you like my title there was direct care so I took care of these adults and they just didn't let me go when it turned into a prison that just kept me on it like it was no training or anything but I worked with a very very specific clientele they had multiaxial disorders so they would be on the autism spectrum and they're also committed some type of crime on top of having another form of disorder and some of those were schizophrenia so I thought I would tell you about some examples I wrote down some quotes from people that I worked with then and interviewed for a class project actually so I still have these quotes from them for examples of different delusional thoughts right so I just thought I would share with you thought you'd find him interesting so we talked about some of these already like derailment and neologisms and pollutions of persecution of grand juror and so on so I'll just read you a quote I thought you guys would like to hear it okay so the first one I have here is a derailment and this is the most common rides were your thoughts seem to be like non sequiturs not connected to each other like jumping around all over the place okay so this is the most common formal thought disorder like rapid shift from one topic to another so in some of these I asked the you know the the inmate a question and then this is their response so this guy was scratching his arms I was trying member this one in my last lecture video he was scratching his arms I just said hey why do your arms each and here's his quote right he said the problem is insects my brother used to collect insects you know he's five foot ten inches you know tens my favorite number of I also like to dance draw and watch television there you go right so like thoughts kind of all over the place without a kind of a logical rational sequence there could kind of follow his thought pattern but when it comes to communicating with somebody else you know there were certainly some problems there okay here's a better one I think this is a neologism so made-up words that typically have meaning for the people that are using them so here is a longer quote here's a quote from somebody and he kind of ties in some weird kind of language that sounds similar to like some of the story and mythology you hear from certain religion so here we go so he says I'm here from a foreign University and you have to have a Plaza T of all acts of amendment to go through for the Children's Code it's no mental disturbance or petulance it's an Emer ition law and there's nothing to disturb me it's like they're prevent Alania and the children have to have this extension of law so they don't go into the more right law of the church all right right so a lot of made-up words in there but they had you know serious meaning and emotional meaning for the person using him here's an example of delusion of persecution so that's you know if you lose the persecution if you feel like you're just being discriminated against or maybe spied on slandered threatened attacked you know deliberately victimized so this person says I felt that the government had planted transmitters and receivers in my apartment so that I could hear what they were saying and they could hear what I was saying I also felt as though the government had bugged my clothing so that whenever I went outside of my apartment I was being pursued I felt like I was being followed and watched 24 hours a day I now know that this constant monitoring was either punishment the hands of God's servants for deeds I committed earlier in life intense right the delusions of grandeur I can act like I covered that well enough it's a belief that an individual is very very important or you know maybe a famous or infamous for some kind of reason and it's typically didn't know not true but here's one that wasn't on the list these are called delusions of control and these are thoughts or impulses or actions that people feel are being controlled by somebody else so there's some kind of external force controlling what you do and you were out of control right this this one was sad I remember this guy he uh he says stuff like this a lot it was really heartbreaking so he says the inmates here hate me extremely because I'm saying they talked to me telepathically continuously and daily almost without cessation day and night by the power of their imagination daily and continuously they create pain in my head my brain my eyes my heart my stomach and even every part of my body they lift my heart they stop it they move it they twist it and they shake it by telepathy and imagination they forced me to say orally whatever they desire whenever they desire and as long as they desire I've never said a word of my own I've never had a thought of my own and this delusion really was like torment for this for this guy but there you go I felt bad that I didn't have those notes with me when I did the disorders chapter so I wanted to do an extra video to add them in I thought you found those would find those interesting so just one of frozen is a short video and the therapy video I'm gonna work on next and that will be up in just a few moments alright have a good one
