intersection and resection are both ways to locate something unknown from one or more known places either calculating the grid location of an object in the distance or finding your own location these techniques will prove essential during Land Navigation performing intersection and resection are not hard as long as you focus and take your time both techniques allow you to locate a point that you do not know the coordinates of the map and Compass method of intersection is used to find the location of an unknown Point by getting the direction of that unknown point from two or more known points first move to a known point where you can see the distant unknown Point obtain the magnetic azoth to the unknown Point using the compass using the declination diagram convert your magnetic asthma to a grid asthma draw a line on your map from your position using the grid Asma next move to a second known position where you can see the unknown Point get the asmith and convert it as before draw a line on your map the unknown point is where these two lines intersect resection is used when you need to figure out where you are and you can see at least two terrain features or objects that appear on your map the more objects you use the greater the accuracy of your calculations start by getting the magnetic asouth to the first object and converting that to a grid asouth then convert that to a back asmith using your protractor draw a line using the back asouth from the first object's location on the map follow this process for each of the points you can see the point where your lines cross is your current location if you find yourself on a linear feature like a Road Canal or stream you can use modified resection begin just like you are conducting a resection but you will only need one identifiable object get the magnetic asouth convert it to a grid asouth convert that to a back asouth and when you draw your line on the map where that line crosses the linear feature is your current location remember to remain calm when using intersection or resection slowing down and taking your time will result in more accurate calculations and allow you to resume your land naav exercise in a timely and efficient fashion [Music]
