The Journey to JEE 2026

Introduction

  • This session is for children and their parents for JEE 2026
  • Description of the entire journey of the JEE examination

Journey of JEE

  • Start: First attempt of the JEE exam in January
    • Registration: Starts in November
    • Examination: Held in the last week of January
  • Board Examination: 12th board exams start in mid-February
  • Next Attempt: Second attempt in April (first week)
  • JEE Advanced: Children who clear JEE Mains get the opportunity to take the Advanced exam in May

Details of Competition

  • Board Examination: 16 lakh children took the exam in 2024
    • Scoring more than 90%: Approximately 1 lakh
    • 75% marks mandatory
  • JEE Mains: 14 lakh children appeared for the exam in 2024
    • Selected children: 2.5 lakh
    • Eligibility for JEE Advanced

12th Board Regulations

  • 75% Marks: Required in aggregate
    • Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and English mandatory
  • Category Relaxation: 65% marks for SC/ST

Details of JEE Mains Examination

  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Maths
  • Paper Structure: 3 hours, 300 marks, 25 questions
    • MCQ and Numerical answer types
    • Computer-based examination
  • Percentile System: For selection
    • Details of the cut-off marks from 2022-2024

Normalization Process

  • Varying difficulty levels in multiple shifts of the exam
  • Selection of the top 5% students in each shift

Admission in NIT and Other Colleges

  • NIT seats: 30-32,000
  • A seat is generally secured in NIT at 99 percentile

Selection in January and April Attempts

  • January Attempt: Most children do not complete the syllabus
  • April Attempt: Children are more mentally prepared

  • Advanced Examination: 2 papers, 3 hours each
