However, not everyone supported these changes, leading to the Russian Civil War, a brutal conflict that lasted until 1923. The revolution's aftermath saw the formation of the Soviet Union in 1922, a new nation based on Marxist-Leninist principles. This marked a significant shift in the world's political landscape, setting the stage for the Cold War. The Russian Revolution of 1917 was about more than just political changes. It was a social and ideological earthquake that had far-reaching effects.
It ended a monarchy, gave birth to the world's first communist state, and inspired countless other movements across the globe.
