hi i'm dr yvonne huang i'm a physical therapist here in rehab and revive i specialize in pelvic health rehabilitation and lymphatic drainage pelvic health rehabilitation is a type of manual therapist that helps treat a variety of conditions related to your bladder bowels and generalized abdominal and pelvic pain today i'll be showing you how to do a self-colon massage this is a way to stimulate and promote bowel movement and colon motility [Music] this technique is beneficial for people who are constipated or have trapped gas or people who are trying to stay regular it is also a great way to promote lymphatic system health if you have diarrhea type of conditions please do not do this type of techniques this is more for people who have constipation first of all let's talk about how your colon runs your colon runs from the right side of your abdomen runs clockwise directions towards the left side so when you do your color massage we're going to do a clockwise circle i'm going to show you four types of techniques to help promoting your bowel first you're going to brush from the back to the front to kind of stimulating and moving your colons you're going to do 5 to 10 strokes brushing forward [Music] then you can perform the clockwise directions you're going to do two hands stacking together or using the heels of your hand you're going to brush upwards when you come up to the ribs you cross it over and then you brush it down and towards your bladder area again you're going to do 5 to 10 strokes then what you can do is the same directions you can perform small circles through the entire colon again we're going to do 5 to 10 strokes and the last one is just a quick stimulation of your sacrum nerves to help promote the urge sensation so you're just going to brush your sacrum up and down five to ten times hopefully you have given the colon massage a try and saw some results check with your healthcare professionals to make sure this exercise is right for you we love to hear your feedback and comments below let us know what you think of this technique hit the subscribe and like button if you want to see more of these kind of videos i'm dr yvonne huang and thanks for tuning in you
