Speaker Comparison: Vestlyd V12C vs Cerwin-Vega

So I've had a chance to listen to Vestlyd, V12C, and Cerwin-Vega 39P... and Cerwin-Vega sounds... quite a bit brighter in the treble/midrange area , where Vestlyd can seem a little dark next to Cerwin-Vega But once you start turning it up a bit to a more moderate sound level, the Vestlyd sounds a lot better... because the treble and the midrange of the 39P start to have those very annoying screeches from certain frequencies. and the bass is not intended for SPL either. it's only one - I think it's a... 1½ inch voice coil that's on, and then the magnet isn't very big. So it doesn't take much before it moves wildly. So both in terms of sound and SPL, Vestlyd beats the Cerwin-Vega 39P, but, again, it is also one of their "cheap" models. So, yeah... That was my opinion on them. Now I've tested these two against each other... Vestlyd, V12C - Cerwin-Vega! 212 The bass is again about the same... when I switch between them. The treble is somewhat brighter in the Cerwin-Vega, and this is also something I hear again and again, no matter which speaker I have. but that is probably be due to the higher sensitivity. however, it seems that Vestlyd is a little more balanced. Once you give it something to live on, it sounds somewhat better than Cerwin-Vega's 212. since the treble can be a bit harsh on the ears. (on the 212) But yes. That's about what I had to say. Now I've had some time to listen to these two against each other with a lot of different music... And as far as I'd say, they are the same in the bass. Not much else to say there, really. Vestlyd is a little bit darker to listen to, where Cerwin-Vega! The S1 is a little bit brighter in sound. So depending on what I've heard of music, I thought one was better than the other and vice versa. There is not a very big difference, I'd say, in detail, between the two speakers - they are reasonably close to each other, but the big difference is that the Vestlyd V12C sounds a bit darker in sound compared to the S1.. And I should note, that on the S1, there are treble and midrange controls at the back - I just put them in the middle position. I always do that when I test. So yeah, that's my assessment of these two. So I've finished testing Vestlyd And I have to say that I was reasonably skeptical to start with... Since I'm a huge Cerwin-Vega! fan, and was a little disappointed that Cerwin-Vega! now no longer to be sold in the Hi-Fi Klubben and that these should replace... and that these should replace the Cervin-Vega! but after testing them for... almost 30 days... I have to say that it might as well have been Cerwin-Vega! 's logo on them. If we take the average of how high they play, then they are well above average (of what Cerwin-Vega! can do) But I still think there are some Cerwin-Vega! speakers that can do more than what these can do. But they still measure up to some of the big good ones, contrary, sound-wise, they don't start to fall behind when you play really loud where most Cerwin-Vega! speakers they start to have... a bit annoying frequencies at the top which start to hurt the ears. I'd say they did a much better job here. I really like the design on them - it's very robust And then the front fabric is also really robust. that was one thing i really like because there are quite a few... older Cerwin-Vega! loudspeakers where you are a little afraid of breaking the front fabric when you take it off. At least you don't have to be afraid of that with them. So I hope you can use the little clips I've made of them playing against others so you can get a small idea of how they sound before you go out and invest in them. But yeah... So, again, I'm very impressed with them. Especially the small ones - the 12 inches. I really like them - because of the size. in comparison to how much sound comes out of such a small speaker. Of course, the 15 inch here takes up a little more... But if that's what you're looking for... And we'll see if there'll be any other produts from Vestlyd that I have to listen to and give an assessment of. But hope you can use it!
