What is concrete?

Plain Cement Concrete. Concrete is a composite material composed of binder that is cement or lime, fine aggregates that is sand and coarse aggregates mixed with water which hardens with time. The fine aggregates fill the voids of coarse aggregates and the voids of the fine aggregates are filled with the binder. This binder reacts with water and binds the aggregate and forms a complex matrix. This composite form is called the concrete. To know about how to manufacture the concrete, watch the videos in this playlist. Link is available in the description. There are many types of concrete available. We are going to see this in our upcoming videos. First, let's start with the plain cement concrete. This is the simplest form of concrete which are made only by mixing basic ingredients. These types of concrete are mainly used in the construction of the pavements and the buildings, especially in areas where there is requirement for low tensile strength. It is also used as bed concrete below the footings, and walls and sill concrete below the window and ventilator. We will see the other types of concrete one by one in upcoming videos.
