Evolution of Technology in Language Learning

okay uh my dear students now we are going to discuss about uh technology enhanced language learnings and this is our second fifth one meeting so in this um in this session i am going to share you a screen and i am going to tell you about uh technology enhanced language learning in general okay before uh continuing uh this meeting allow me to share the presentation first wait okay we will um discuss about uh technology enhanced language learning okay boy it is called as the t-e-l okay uh actually this is the history of tewl uh we have uh faced uh three steps of uh technology enhanced language learning actually this is not the new things in education since in the late 20s if i'm not mistaken there is a term called call or c a double l or computer assisted language learning in this period this is the beginning of using computer in uh teaching and learning process since uh before we have a seed a double l we use the manual version when we have a teaching and learning process so when the when there is an invention of computers the educators start using computer to help them to assist them when they have to teach the students let's start by making uh perhaps a worksheet and then how to put a score and how to how to make a lesson plan by using uh ca double l and then uh it is also influenced by the internet yeah the the the invention of uh internet so computer is not only used for uh someone doing something with without any correlation with other people when the internet becomes not become something that is commonly to use people use computer to connect between one people to another people and then since the uh since uh the situation is getting better it's uh it means um there is um the invention of mobile phone or if we talk about the computer if in the beginning there is a personal computer so we have at least three parts when we are going to use computer the monitor and then the keyboard and then the cpu uh it is in different in different form but when when we can use it is called as a laptop we use one thing in those cpu um [Music] and then what's that and then the keyboard and then the monitor in one device uh mobile assisted language learning is not only in laptops since uh in the late 21st century like we face uh today there is the arrival of a pad tablet and then there is a rifle smartphone so uh small things can help us or can can help us in a big or canon can give us a big influence and the newest but is still the the most expensive uh assistance in teaching and learning uh process is robot assisted language learning but uh perhaps it is still not come any uh commonly used in our country okay uh if the method or if the device changed also it influenced the teachings um the teaching method of the teaching process especially language learning uh language teaching uh if in the beginning we only know when we have a teaching and learning process we have only face and to face method we have uh this face to face with the students but uh later when uh there are several device uh devices help us we can save uh the method into 50 50. okay and there is full online teaching and learning process it happened when we have to face the pandemic like coffee 19 pandemic in the 2021 2021 when we have to uh to stop our face-to-face meeting or our direct meeting with people so uh we are forcedly to do the full online teaching and learning process and when the pandemic is getting better and it seems like we are going to have an enemy we still use mostly online but uh there is uh still a chance to have a face-to-face meeting so this kind of teachings method can can be used right now okay next okay it is the history of uh before we talk about technology enhanced language learning computer assisted language learning explored the role of information and communication technologies in language learning and teaching why today this quote is a technology enhanced language learning when we aren't we do not focus on the computer scenes the the enhancement is not only in the hard device but also the software also help us in uh teaching and learning or teaching and learning language well using a c a double l or using a t e double l we can use collaborative project game simulation like taking simulation if uh if before we before the pandemic we use the teaching simulation we have a face-to-face meeting and then you bring your laptop and you make a powerpoint and we see you teach directly but when the pandemic it is not only in teaching and learning uh it is not it is we we know we know how to use google me so we don't have to uh meet face uh face to face and then peer editing composition email reinforcement of classroom material this kind of activities can be used by maximizing the benefit of technology enhanced language learning digital interest is what are they that we use we commonly use in this situation the first one is search in web and create a cv so we are not only searching something in web we also can create a cp i'm sorry this is uh perhaps there is some mistake in in making this presentation and then create only online presentation so we since dislike what i uh just like what i do right now i make an online presentation so you can see my presentation uh at home or anywhere anywhere and then have an online meeting yeah this is the common digital elite races uh during the pandemic and then if we have to classify the technology ability we can make a three calcification the first one is called as high tech high tech it means the situation when we can maximize the use of technology and then love that load we use technology but not in a pro mode and there is no technology at all it doesn't mean that we have uh since this is 2022 so we should be in high tech mode no when there is a situation like there is no electricity power perhaps we will use new technology and then in in the situation if there is a limitation of the device or the limitation of mobile data but if we can change the method into low technology so in this uh occasion the teacher should be able to save their ability they they have uh to be able to adapt to the situation whether it be high-tech low-tech or no technology at all and then based on those classification we have as an educator as an educator we have to have technology knowledge quantum knowledge and pedagogical knowledge so if we have a technology knowledge but we uh we uh rarely read the book so it is still useless uh and also the ability of uh teaching the ability of facing the students should be improved so these three uh abilities should be have uh should have the teacher that should have okay those uh just just like i said before from the situation and then the method the changes of the method is uh based on the confident pandemic shifting method this uh situation forces us to uh to adapt uh to to adapt more we have to be flexible based on the situation and then challenge barrier and technology as solution actually um there are many challenges and there are many barriers especially in the beginning uh we have to face the pandemic and i believe that you still remember in the beginning time in in the beginning 2020 we have to change the uh offline method into online and uh the the problem is not only from me as the teacher but also uh from the student or perhaps uh by the mobile data um but now we can what is that we can uh we can adapt uh better since uh the application is also well improved yeah and then uh there are so many applications and that can help us to teach to learn a language especially if in the beginning there's only several only several types of uh online dictionary but now we can we can download many uh many online dictionaries okay so what can be concluded from this presentation we as the teacher we have to be able to use the technology to maximize the technology to make the student understand the material to make the teaching situation cooperative so technology is not the tool to minimize our uh what is that to minimize our move but by using technology we can make a creative teaching and learning situation we can help students understand more and we can make the material easily delivered uh techniques for language and it allows students to have agency and learn to socialization motivation so we have to lose our we have to minimize uh the the opinion that technology uh make the socially make a less socialization process so we have to proof that technology can improve student socialization and they can be a better human
