Introduction to EdCafe AI Features

Hello, everyone. Thank you so much for joining in to onboarding with AdCafe AI. I'm just going to change up my background so that way it is readable. Excellent. All right, let's go ahead and get started.

So we are going to do a little bit of onboarding and teach you guys how to use AdCafe AI. So the rest of the session, I'm just also going to share a little bit about why EdCafe AI was created and get you guys access to free EdCafe AI premium along with then we'll move into our demo and have our Q&A session. So why did we create EdCafe AI? So we created it so that way you can reduce your teacher workload and also enhance that personalized learning.

So by doing that, we can create our content. save it in our library, and then share it and interact with our students. So it has that full system approach.

So that way you're not losing any content and you can share it with your students. That way you can make full use of that content that you created. It's not just a one-stop shop. You can really make full use of that content.

So now to follow along, you guys can access a 30-day free trial of EdCafe AI Premium. This is really useful, so that way if you guys have any questions while going through some of our tasks here, you can throw them in the chat and I would be happy to help answer. So to access your EdCafe AI code, I'm going to throw this key into the chat. And then you just need to go into your EdCafe AI profile, which is up here in the corner.

And then you'll click on subscription. And down here at the bottom, there's the I have a product key. So let me paste in this into the chat. Awesome. You guys can access that to access your Edcafe AI premium trial and then follow along.

So now let's go get into that Edcafe AI demo. So Edcafe is broken down into four different categories of features. So we have some different planning options, some different assessment features along with our chatbot. and our teaching materials.

So all these features can be used so that way you guys can create content and share it with your students. So let me exit out of our presentation and go into EdCafe AI. So this is our homepage.

It'll look a little bit differently for everyone depending on how many tools and contents that you create. So let's go into our create new and get started by trying out a couple of EdCafe AI's features. Whenever I am beginning lesson planning or doing things like that, I always love to start with the teaching resources.

So our teaching resources allows you to quickly search the web while finding different articles, slide decks, videos, and worksheets. So you can search up anything. You can do something, of course, that works in your classroom, but it also brings in content that is relevant and up-to-date with current events that are going on. So speaking of our impacts of the LA wildfires and things like that, let's do a wildfires topic here.

And then we can discuss this and the climate impacts with our students in class. So it'll take a second to generate and once it generates you'll be able to see a review of all of the different contents that we have here. So we have different articles, those slide decks will give you that quick preview, a description of those files, those videos from YouTube, and different worksheets. This is really great because you know that all of these materials are clickable and usable.

So we can check out one of these PDFs. You guys can see we have a little lesson plan specifically on the rise of the U.S. wildfires. So all of these resources you guys can use and browse through. I would always recommend saving them. That way you have access and can browse them at a time that is most convenient for you.

So I will save this. Let's make sure I spell it right. And then you can save it in a specific folder in your AdCafe AI library. So this is really nice. So that way all of your content stays organized.

So instead of using one in my library here, I'm just going to add a new folder and I will label it wildfires. Let's make it red. And if needed, you can put this inside of another folder. That way, again, you're staying completely organized. You're not losing track of this content that you're creating.

So we can... create that folder for us. We'll just put it in our library there. And then you have access to all of these features. So you can scroll through, review these videos and different slide decks.

And if one of these resources ends up not being relevant, you're also free to just go ahead and delete them. So let's go back through some of these slide decks. Maybe this one. Reduce the risks. Not exactly what we're looking for.

We can delete it and then we can always click more to find more options. But let's go ahead and actually use one of the articles here about wildfires to create a lesson plan. So these teaching resources are great for you to use if you want to use them in a lesson, but then you can also use them to further continue making EdCafe content.

So this wildfires from National Geographic has some information. I think it looks great. let's go ahead and use it to make a lesson plan. So we'll go back into our create new and our lesson plan. And with a lot of EdCafe AI tools, you can generate the content based on any topic.

You can paste in a text, you can add in your webpage, and then you can also import a file if needed. And those files can be a PDF, a PowerPoint slide, a document, or some images as well. But for this example, let's go ahead and use our webpage. And then you can specify any other additional instructions.

So for this, let's go ahead and add in maybe that we want some group projects and some differentiated activities because we always like to include those in our classroom. That way we're making sure we're addressing all of our student needs. So in our additional instructions, let's add to include our group project.

And some differentiated in-class activities. Perfect. Fix up that spelling.

And now you can also add in any online resources. So it's a little bit similar to teaching resources. This lesson plan will provide you the lesson plan.

And if it mentions, you know, use a video or show a video, we'll also have that linked here. in a specific section for all of these online resources. That way, it's easily accessible for you all.

And then lastly, we can add in our standards. So let's do our next generation science standard here, our NGSS. And then, of course, you can change your output language. So if you're looking for a lesson plan for a different language, scroll through and select the one that's needed. So give it a moment to generate here.

Perfect. All right, let's scroll through and take a look. So we have our objective. We also have our standards.

And our lesson plan provides us how our lesson aligns with our standards. Then we have a list of vocabulary words that can be used in our lesson, along with some essential questions that we want to ask students or that should be the main focus of our lesson. And then because we checked for those online resources, we have some different materials.

So we have books, articles. So we have that website that we listed and also some videos that will be linked. It's still loading a little bit.

Sometimes my Internet is a little bit slow, so I'll just give it a second. Otherwise, I'll do a quick refresh. Let's try again here.

Awesome. And GSS. All right, let's try this again.

Oh, shoot. And I did forget to do the online resources. I'll go back and just edit.

You can always come back to make edits in your additional instructions if you review that. You know, maybe you don't always want the vocab. You can always add in here, you know, don't include the vocab for this lesson plan.

So then we'll do our online resources search here and we'll try again. Takes just a little bit longer when it's looking for those resources. Let me know in the chat what you are teaching, what subject, what grade level, and I'll try to mix in some examples for you so that we can try them out in our demo here.

All right, just for the sake of time, we'll go back and do just our lesson plan without those online resources. So let me do it one time real quick so that we can review. Let's just paste in here.

There we go. So just like before, we have those objectives, the standards, our vocabulary, along with our essential questions and some materials. So when you check those online resources, that will be listed in this materials section for you.

So that way you can quickly access those resources and use them in your lesson. Then we move into the actual meat of the lesson plan where we have our procedure, some different activities. We have that listed differentiated activities here that we asked for. along with some of those group project ideas, along with some extended formative assessments and things like that. So all of this in the lesson plan is editable.

So this can be edited, reviewed as needed. You can make sure it matches more of your own tone while you are going through it. Once everything is complete and it looks good, always, of course, give it a save.

We'll do our wildfire lesson plan. It's saved in the correct folder. And then of course, you can export it to Microsoft Word or Google Docs, depending on what you need.

The next feature that I want to cover is our slide deck. So when we are creating a slide deck in EdCafe, we'll go here, select our slide deck. That way, you can use this in your sessions.

You can share it digitally with your students or export it in the format that you need. So just like our lesson plan, you have your topic, your text, your webpage, or your file. And for this one, let's just do a simple topic and show you that we can create a whole slide deck based on that topic.

So let's do optical illusions and math here. Then for your additional instructions, be as specific as you want. You can add in your student levels, any of those standards since there's no specific output for them here.

And maybe we want to include some interactive activities. So we want to add some discussion questions throughout our slide deck and a mix of, um, okay, so we'll add in our discussion questions throughout mixing it in with our quality content. in bullet point format.

This way it keeps all the slides pretty simple, but the content is really relevant. Then you can select your number of slides. I'll do 10 to 15 here. Of course, I'll put language if needed.

And then you can select one of these four themes. And so when you click continue, it will actually show you an outline first. That way you can review this outline. Make sure it has everything you need in your slide deck. So let's just take a quick look.

we see that we have some discussion questions that we asked for, and maybe three is too many for our slide deck. So let's go ahead and delete this one. So now we should only have two slides of discussion questions.

So you can use this to help update your slide deck before clicking continue here, and then your slides will actually be generated. So we'll give that a quick moment, but it has our title slide here. And some information on the front and it will also include some images as well.

So we'll give it a moment to load up some of these images, but everything on our slide deck, just like our lesson plan, is editable here. So you guys can take a look and review. Looks like we have our one discussion question, some different images, and our second.

And then our third one that we deleted is not included because we took it away. But it's nice, it ends on a little exit ticket that you can showcase to your students as well. But let's go through our images again. Maybe this image isn't exactly what we're looking for.

So you guys can use this to search Google for a different pattern, or you can also use an AI image to describe something that you are looking for. So maybe let's just use one of these here since it's a geometric pattern. But I'll show you guys how to use the AI image feature coming up here soon. So you can just add that in. And once your slide deck is all edited and it looks good, let's go ahead and give it a save.

Okay, our math slide deck. And let's see about putting it into our seventh grade folder. And now you have the different options to share it with your students.

So you can share it with your students via a QR code or a link. So then that way they can review this on their own or you can export it. So that way you can use it in one of your lessons with this option here.

So you can export it as a PowerPoint or a Google Slides. Let's just give it a quick go with our PowerPoint here. Then, of course, once it's in PowerPoint or Google Slides, you can do any other further editing. So let's take a look here. Give it a quick open.

Excellent. So now that is in our PowerPoint, we're able to take a look at all of our slides here and edit it or present as normal. All right.

We'll give that one a quick leave. And next, now that we have some content, next we want to check for understanding with our students. So a great way to do that is with EdCafe AI's quiz feature.

So along with our regular quiz feature, we also have a YouTube quiz that you guys can use and explore to make a quiz based on a YouTube video. But for this, we're going to go through just our regular quiz. That way, you can see, again, that you can create a quiz based on any simple topic, paste in a text, use a web page, or upload a file.

So with that premium version trial you guys have, you can explore this option. So let's go ahead and try it out. So for this example... We can browse our files. I'll go to my examples here.

And let's do an example on Newton's Law of Motion. So we have a PDF of a summary of Newton's Law of Motion that we can use to generate a quiz based off of. From here, you can choose your question type, multiple choice, short answer, or mix. We'll just stick with multiple choice.

And then you can select your number of questions. Let's do 15. And then you can set, of course, again, your additional instructions. So for these additional instructions, let's relate all of our questions to or relate some of them to airplanes. Maybe your students are really interested in a certain subject or a topic.

And so it's kind of fun to have that mixed into your quiz or something like that. So for this example. will have Newton's law of motion, but related to some airplanes.

And then of course, add in your student level and you can generate your quiz. So as the quiz is generating, you can take a look at all of the different options. So when a quiz is generated, you see the question along with the different answer choices and an explanation.

And this is because of that Cafe AI's quiz. Once it's saved, you can share it with your students and they can actually take this quiz. And they'll get instant feedback on their results and be able to review this explanation. So let's take a look and see.

some of our questions, make sure we have some with airplanes here. So we have some different questions that mix in with some different airplanes as well. So that keeps it a little bit interesting and maybe holds your students' attention because it's something that they're interested in.

If you scroll through all of these questions, you see, you know, there's a specific question that you want to ask. You can always add another question if it wasn't included with the AI. So let's go ahead and you can add one in with AI again, or you can add a blank question. So I love using this multiple choice blank question and actually typing in the question that I need.

So this one is kind of long, so I'm just going to paste it in. So why does an airplane continue moving forward even after the engines are turned off? So you can just paste it or type in a question that you have. And instead of doing all of these answer choices and typing out the explanation by yourself, you can actually press tab. and AI will read the question that you have and then come up with different answer choices for you and that explanation, which is fantastic.

So of course, continue on editing your explanation. So that way it's more of your tone and fitting for your students on how you want to provide them feedback. And then of course, you can also edit. So you can add an image to any of these questions. Or if you don't like the question options and that explanation, you can always regenerate as well.

So super customizable. Let's go ahead and give it a save and then we can actually take the quiz as students. Excellent. We'll save this into a different file. Let's create a new one again.

For science, we'll do green here. I'll save it in my library. All right, give that a quick save.

And then, of course, you guys can export. I promise I'll stop saying it, of course, shortly. All right.

So in your export options, you have Microsoft Word, Google Docs, PowerPoint, Slides, or PDF. That way, you can share it with your students in whatever format you need. You can print it out.

So that way, they have a paper copy as well. However, if you want to share it with them digitally, click on this assign key. And they can scan the QR code. You can copy the link.

I'll also throw this in the chat. That way you guys can take it if you would like. And I will open up our link.

So once your link is opened, you can type in, students can type in their name to begin taking the quiz. So they can see a quick little summary of the quiz and go through, read the questions and answer them. So let's Select some options here. I'll just go through it quickly. And students do have to submit all questions before to be able to submit.

So if I submit here, they do have to select an answer choice for all of the questions before they can submit. So did not do super great. So you have your percentage score since this is a total multiple choice quiz. Just a quick little summary feedback here.

And then you see the questions, those explanations, even if you got the answer correct or not. So students can retake this quiz. However, on your teacher's side, you will only be able to see their first response here.

So you can see what they did when they first took it. So this is an overview of your student responses. You can see that average score, how many people have taken the quiz, and how long it took them. So you can scroll through those and you'll be able to see some percentage. rates here as well on how many students submitted which option choices.

Back up at the top, we also have a participant by participant view. So that way you can go through each participant and see how they did on this side as well. And all of this feedback can be downloadable, or it can be downloaded as a report.

That way you guys can have this in your files, save it, and use it for other data analysis as well. Feel free to throw in any questions that you have so far while you're working on these tools. I am happy to help.

But let's go back and now we're going to work through a chatbot. So our chatbot is one of our more unique features. It's one of my favorites, but it can be a little overwhelming because there's so many different ways to use it, which makes it really exciting.

So with this chatbot, we have a few ideas here that you guys can take a look at to get started. So we have an IEP assistant. That way you can help make those individualized education plans for students.

So this can be used as a teacher tool so that you can use it to talk with the chatbot to help you. Or you can also have this as a student tool. So that way you can share it with your students and they can interact with the chatbot using AI in a controlled environment. So some examples of that is using it for role playing. You can have students kind of walk through how they would respond in these different scenarios.

Of course, you can use that as a quiz or a tutor bot as well, where The chatbot can help students answer any questions they might have, you know, or just guide them step by step without providing them those correct answers. You can also use it to help them, you know, work on their writing and different things like that. So let's go through an example here.

For our chatbot today, we are going to use it as a cafe pen pal. So maybe you want to use it to help students practice their language learning. by writing and, you know, writing that out and talking with a chatbot there. So for our chatbot, let's do a cafe pen pal. Then you can select your language and you can add in any instruction.

So for these instructions, let's say we want the chatbot to practice Spanish with the students. Maybe they are sitting at a cafe. So the setting. Let's first spell the right.

All right. Sit with you and chat. That should be good.

Let's also tell the chatbot that we want the chatbot to ask students questions in Spanish. Questions in Spanish will say that they are beginners. Let's double check that spelling. And then you can also say, you know, maybe if students spell something wrong or, you know, don't do something grammatically correct, the chatbot can correct them.

So let's say if the students make a mistake. Awesome. Okay, sounds good. So all those instructions, so if the students make a mistake, correct them in English, so then that way it's a little bit easier for them to understand their mistake, and the chatbot can continue responding to their sentence.

So these instructions are for the AI chatbot, not for the students. There'll be a quick description for students to be able to see. And then you can also upload your own knowledge. So this is really great to use, you know, so that students are, you know, continuing to work with this chatbot in.

knowledge and resources that you have uploaded to the chatbot. So that way, you know, the information that the chatbot is sharing with students. So this is great.

You know, if you have like a syllabus or something like that, where, you know, you want to help if students always come up to you to ask questions, you can actually just share this chatbot with them and be like, you know, ask the chatbot has the syllabus, it can answer those questions for you. So lots of different ways, like I said, to use for this example, we're just going to use it without knowledge. It's just a practice scenario. that students can work with.

So we're going to create this chatbot. It will prompt us to save it. And let's save it in our French folder, even though we're working with Spanish. And you'll be able to see just a quick review.

So this test me out is for teachers to use. They can explore the chatbot before sharing it with students to make sure it works correctly. If it doesn't, you're always able to edit and go through these instructions again.

Then we can go ahead and assign it to our students. So just like the quiz, scan the QR code, copy in that link and share it, or we can open it up. So let's open it up, give a quick name.

And students will be able to see a quick description. So they're the pen pals. They're created to engage our users with delightful conversations. So let's say hello to our chat bot.

And it is asking us some different words in Spanish. So what is your name? So we can say. My name is Rosa.

And that also says, where are you from? So we can continue conversing with our chatbot from there. We can say.

We'll say something like this. That's incorrect. Oh, perfect.

There we go. And you guys can continue chatting with your chatbots to see. So this is very bad. If you meant to say not good, something, it would do those corrections like we asked, which is really great. However, maybe you don't want to have it be so much.

English that's listed here where it has the description. We want to really test students knowledge so we can go back into our prompt and edit that. So let's see practice Spanish with our students.

We want to ask students questions. We'll put this in parentheses. There we go.

We'll just add do not share translations. Then we can update this, share it again with your students, or give it a quick test to make sure that it's working as needed. So we'll do a little bit of updating here. So then that way, there we go.

So now it asks for our name but doesn't give that full explanation. And let's do a quick spelling mistake. So it says almost perfect should be me llamo instead of me llamos. So that is great, working much better than the first one, which is what we like to see. So it has those corrections.

in English, tells them what they should do, but then continues asking them questions in Spanish without that translation. So again, lots of different ways to use the chatbot. Please throw in any questions in the chat and I can help you, you know, think of different ways to use it. Or if you have an idea, but not sure how to execute, I'd be happy to help.

All right. I think those are all the features that we're going to cover today. So if you guys have any other questions, put them in the chat and I would be happy to answer.

But otherwise, let me share our presentation again. There's a few other things that we can cover. So for just a quick recap, the things that we went over is we talked about our teaching resources, the lesson plans, our slide deck, the quiz feature, and our chatbot. So...

There's a great couple of features for you guys to get started to make the most out of EdCafe AI. So now, if you guys can scan this QR code, tell us what you think about getting started and any feedback that you have. We'd be happy to hear from you and make sure EdCafe is working in the best way possible for you all. So I'll leave this up for a moment.

Feel free to ask some questions and I will answer them in the chat. A question about the chatbot and reviewing what students have spoken and chatted with the chatbot. This is a great question. So actually in our chatbot feature.

Let's exit out of this here, go back into, oops, there we go, our EdCafe. So with our chatbot, if you refresh your page once you share it with students, you can actually review that chat session. So with these chat sessions, you can see all of your students and then you can click in to review how they have chatted with the chatbot. That way they're being monitored, you can see how they are doing and compare with other students to see if, you know, all of my students have the same question or are really struggling with this topic or struggling with this verb tense for the Spanish example, you know, then I can make sure to cover it in class. And then all of these chats can also be copied or exported as a Word or Google Doc.

That way you can have it for review or save it to your student files for data and analytics as well. Awesome. And then another question on the chatbot about using AI. Could you upload a file to have the AI respond to students accordingly? Yep.

So you can put that in your additional instructions. So when you're creating a new chatbot, you can upload your document here, and then you can say, you know, refer. You can give those instructions a try.

It might need a little bit of adjustment, but you can give that a try. Hopefully that is the question that you're asking and you can use that. I also love to use that, you know, refer to the document for any knowledge or, you know, refer only to this document for knowledge.

You know, if it's not in, if the knowledge isn't in that document, let students, you know, say that you don't know or something like that or ask the teacher for more information. But let me know if that did not answer your guys' questions. I'm going to put our QR code back up. That way you guys can give it a scan so we can get some feedback from you all.

Looks like I have a question on the AI image. So let's go through that one quick and how to create those. So in our quiz, like you saw, you could add in an image.

You can also do it with our flashcards and vocab cards. Then we also have an AI image feature that can be used. So lots of different ways to kind of use these images and in our slide deck, like I mentioned, too.

So in our AI image. This one will work just as similar to all of our other features as well. And here you can get a quick preview of those different options to set your style of image.

So describe our image. Let's do a quick image on. So just do something like this. A chef chopping up some green peppers, and then you can select your style of picture. Let's do a photographic one here.

Excellent. So we have a nice image of him chopping up some peppers. And then if you scroll down, you guys can actually add another image. With some of the other features, it will provide you two images and you can select it.

And that way, you know, it adds to your card or your slide or your quiz question, things like that. But with the AI image feature, you can also add in a new image. So maybe instead of chopping, we want moon scene and we'll do a chef.

So chef mincing some garlic. This way you have a nice little, you know, a library of images that you can review and share with students of all of those different things that might be related to each other. So we have some different garlic here.

But of course, give them a save. Save it into your library. We'll do some cooking. These images can be downloaded as well.

Awesome. Looks like we have some excitement for our chatbot. It is one of my favorite features too.

There's so many useful ways to use it and really interact with your students and save teachers so much time in that way too. Perfect. So now you can share and scroll through these images or you can always go ahead and download them really easily from here. Awesome.

Doesn't look like we have too many other questions. If you weren't able to get this QR code scanned. You can go to tinyurl.com slash edcafegetstarted and fill out this feedback form.

That way we're able to hear your feedback and any updates that you might need and want to see with EdCafe. Otherwise, don't forget to join our Facebook community. This has lots of different tips and tricks and ideas on how to use EdCafe AI features.

That way, you know, you don't have to struggle with use cases. There's lots of different ways that can be used. And maybe someone has an idea that is really fitting for your classroom too. Thank you so much for joining.

That is all I have for you today. Feel free to drop any other questions in the chat, and I would be happy to help. Thank you.
