in the note taking space there's a very big Trend and it's called visual note taking a lot of people are looking for a way to visually organize some of their notes but also it can be useful for research planning and idea generation today we're going to give you all of the best visual note taking apps on the market to consider in 2025 and to pick which one is right for you so let's get things started with obsidian now for those who don't know pidia is a free notetaking app that allows you to use markdown to use B directional links and graph but it most importantly has a feature called canvas which will allow you to organize your notes in a visual manner you can not only bring in media that's already in your obsidian account you can also see all of the notes you've existing created and link them up between each other visually this is great for simply seeing everything in one location and as you can imagine a very popular tool for those who want a free option to do this as many of the apps in this list are paid and do require a subscription obsidian canvas is free to use and is widely available able on all devices which is good news so our second solution is hepto and as I said this one is a paid subscription software and it's much more focused towards those who are looking to do research with the notes and maybe doing a PhD Master's or as a student University or college this app is incredibly popular for those as you can imagine you can pin notes together but what's different about it does have a way to connect notes up and also bring block referencing in which is going to be incredibly helpful for referencing important stuff you can also bring in a wide range of multimedia and connect notes up as well as seeing them in a traditional note Library type view so if you're watching this video and you're still hunting for note taking apps we'd recommend to jump over to Tool finder.org I'd recommend checking our full category of resources and if you're still hunting for note taking apps and need a little bit of help we've got a free guide to notetaking apps that you can download for free below it includes a PDF and loads more to help you find the best solution so our third option is called napkin and this one has been growing in popularity over the last couple of years is one that I need to do a full full review on but the application is well known for being able to bring ideation to note taking so what you can do is capture these notes bring them into your system and Visually organize them and using artificial intelligence it will help recommend the best note that brings to the surface the most important ones for the thing that you're doing people love this visual notetaking experience and it's becoming incredibly popular in space as a a tool for helping to bring ideas together and using artificial intelligence next up is one called log seek and they've got something called a whiteboard feature in this app as well as a bunch of other features like daily notes flash cards and more and log seek is free much like obsidian and they don't even have any sort of pricing like obsidian does have they are just completely free as an option but the whiteall feature is is actually quite extensive it's still I believe in beta at the time of recording this but in generally it is a really nice experience to use for managing and bringing ideas together especially when it comes to the multimedia elements and a very good Solution on the market out there next up is one that is similar to hept toase it's called scrin it's recently been through a pretty big redesign and the application present itself as a way for bringing ideas together it currently lacks a mobile application hept toase has a mobile application but scrol presents itself has much more attractive design as a whole compared to hepto base it helps you to bring your ideas together and visualize them in a very board SL canvas sln Library type fashion and connect those notes up and from my experience of using both of them whilst I believe hept toase is slightly more practical the likes of srle is much more of a joy to use as a collective but another visual notetaking app that a lot of people have been holding towards in the last and many few years so this next option is slightly off pieced it's called my mind but you can imagine this application being Pinterest and the likes of a note taking app having a baby this one helps you to capture stuff that is visual so images bookmarks even text whatever you want into my mind and it works as a way to resurface your notes and search for them using AI it also has an OCR scanner for scanning documents and finding the right elements of it and it's very much a premium experience for capturing stuff as you go so if you're somebody that finds yourself capturing a lot of stuff on Pinterest or a visual notetaking platform for this application might be a consideration for you while slightly pricier this application is easy to use comes with a really well-developed application and is growing in features and popularity right now so next up is one called million note and many people know of this as a project management software but it can also be used in notetaking experience it is good because you can capture things in this canvas light mode and add things like boards tasks and even connect other apps to it so if you're a creative or a designer and you feel like you need to visually note take and bring your ideas together not just to share with other people but share for yourself and annotate them and bring them to life then this one is a little bit more of a structured experience for you and has a good mobile application too a good consideration if you're in the market for one next up is Google Keep now Google keep is incredibly popular as a quick notetaking experience I call it the Post-it notes app for your mobile device and it is really that but it has some powerful abilities you can capture images checklists reminders and lots more but what's incredibly popular about it is there's a search ability which allows you to search images colors or labels that you have in your account and your obviously Everything At a Glance and grouping them making them easy to find for later so people like to not only use this as a imagining as a Post-It notes experience for your mobile device but also as a way to capture things visually too slightly a different option than the canvas like experience we've got in the list but another consideration so before we go into our final option I'd recommend jumping over to tool.co using our score cards to find the best Insight on all of the apps on the market it's a great way to speed things up and all you can do is sign up for free account today and it's a great way to speed the process up in finding the right app for you so our final option is called Miro and people find this as a really attractive option if they're working in a team whil there are some limitations for individuals I believe there are only three boards you can create as individual but it does allow you to bring to life all of your ideas a lot of teams and individuals like to use this because it has a bunch of collaborative abilities and templates are going to save you a bunch of time there's something called the mirrorverse which helps you to find templates that other people have created and have been pre-created by the mirror team to save you a bunch of time so if you're visually notetaking about a SWAT analysis which is a posh word for strength weaknesses opportunities and threats and then this is an interesting option for you and one to check out but also has a bunch of other templates so folks those are all of the visual not taking apps on the market if you're interested in exploring more you know where to go till find a.
