[Music] [Music] hello my name is Roberto I'm the tunnel manager for the southern tunnels on the Sydney Metro West Syd airport project thank you for joining us today to our Tour on the airport sites we're going to show you the captivating world of tunder burning machines and the people role they're playing in the construction the new Metro tunnels to appreciate the significance of these amazing machines let's first have a look on the grand scale of the new metro line C Metro has contracted cpb contractors gella to excavate five station boxes two Services shaft and two and TW tunnel from the new airport going from s Maris to atropolis safety is very important on our work site so before the two starts we want to let you know what we do to keep our Workforce safe in our side so we do side induction on daily basis ensure the all the safety documents are signed and reviewed by the workforce daily site work and observation Ure the plant are pre started and the star car and lift car are fulfilled hi my name is Matthew I'm the engineer here at the airport business park today I'll be taking you around site and showing the infrastructure we put in place to support our tun of VO machines [Music] so we're stood here now in our segment yard which is where we store all the segments we need to build our tunnel the segments such as these are produced in Brisbane and then shipped down to the airport Business Park site on the back of a truck when they arrive here we store them here until they're ready to be installed into our [Music] tunnel [Music] so when it's time the segments are brought from the segment a down area to the Gantry Frain area which is this area here they're then picked up as you can see behind me and lifted down into the airport dive been taken to the tun of Bo [Music] machine beneath us you can see the airport dive which is where the trains transition from being on the surface to Going Underground into our tunnels it took about 4 months to excavate the 192,000 tons of rock which equates to about 30 Olympic swiming pools to build the 12 M deep airport Business Park Station dive in preparation for the launches of TBM Peggy and diene the airport Business Park dive is 300 M long 25 M wide and about 12,000 tons of concrete was needed to line the structure as we walk into the tunnels we can see on the left hand side we have our services which Supply the tunnel B Machine with things like water grout and sodium silicat we also see our conveyor and ventil ation [Music] bagging here we have a tunnel transport vehicle also known as a tsp which has just returned from delivering segments to the TBM every 240 M we have cross passages which are used to access in between the two tunnels tbmi Le launched at the airport business par site she was the first of the four tbms to launch on the Sydney Metro Western Sydney airport project TBM Peggy is the second of four tbms to launch on Sydney Metro [Music] project [Music] behind me we have the static conveyor which is part of the tunnel conveyor system this system brings material we have exped from the tunnel room machine up the surface where installed some powers like we have behind [Music] me thank you for joining us today I hope you have enjoy our tour and to have a good look inside our tunnel world
