hello students and colleagues David here the student administration and registration Services Manager here is a hm I'll put my webcam on so you can see me there we go there we go all right so in this in this short video I'm going to show you how to convert an image file to PDF you might want to do this for your e posters if you use software like piktochart where the free version lets you download your work as an image file such as a JPEG or a PNG so if that doesn't sound familiar those are two types of image file that it allows you to download okay then in order to upload it to turn it in you may need to save it as a PDF or convert it to PDF now as you can see from this this joke from the internet people often say that PDF must be the world's fourth most popular religion because when you google how to convert to PDF or how to convert - it comes up with these ones and then PDF what that tells us is that converting files to PDF is a very common thing that people want to do and there are many ways to do it and that you can find information about that online okay so get rid of that okay here is an image file if I want to know what type of image file it is I can hover my mouse over it and as you can see the little tooltip that comes out tells me what type of image it is this one is a jpg I can say see that because it says item type Jaypee eg if that's too small for you to read you can right click and you can click on properties and look at type of file and that will tell you if it is a JPEG jpg or a PNG that's dot PNG in the file extension okay so we need to know what type of file it is for the first method that I'm going to show you of converting it to PDF the first method is to use an online converter that will convert it to PDF for you if I start now this is a real real Google search for converging to PDF but I don't need to know that so if I'm if I want to I can just start typing jpeg2000 and this is the first search results apart from this advertisement this convert jpg images and a jpg is another extension for JPEGs to PDF documents online so I can click this I can upload my image file now you'll remember that I had it saved here on the desktop so to upload --is-- it's going to ask me where to upload from I'm going to go to desktop I'm going to find that image file there it is so it's this image here of a telecommunications tower with a Leclerc or crane resting on it look like is French for a crank alright so now it's some you probably can't see that but it's uploading it's got a progress bar I probably should have chosen a smaller file this will take a few seconds to upload let's do uploading there we go I'll show you the image while we're waiting for that so I'll just um bring that up as a preview as you can see this is the Leclerc or crane they speak French in Morocco and other languages like Arabic and it's built this very big nest on the telecommunications tower alright so that's just about me done 90% yes good and when that's finished uploading all I've got to do is click download and as you can see it's downloaded as a PDF document I can go to show in folder and they'll be able to see where it's saved and that is the file that I can then upload and I can view it in you know Adobe Acrobat Reader if you don't have adequate Acrobat Pro like I do okay and there it is it's a PDF that would have worked for your II poster as well okay great second method the second method I will show you is that you can print it so you can right-click on the image file get rid of that right click on the image file and you can click french when the print dialog comes up change the printer to Adobe PDF well you can still change all of these properties and settings and things like that whatever you like okay and then when you click fringe this is getting ready to print and instead of actually going to a physical printer somewhere it says where would you like to save the file it's saving it as a PDF we will save that on the desktop and we'll call it I don't know how you spell that black maybe something like that that's a little progress bar that says it's converting it and Adobe Acrobat has actually popped up with that unit inish okay so that worked as well that you can you can either on their settings for whether you want it landscape and portrait and all of those things but yes you can um you can use the Print function or you can use the online converter like I did I hope you found this video helpful if you've got any questions about it please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll be glad to help you with your conversion issues regarding PDF I wasn't showing my screen was her I'll have a look
