Boeing 777X Test Issues and Delays

this morning Boeing is pausing tests of its new triple 7x after finding damage to the plane this comes as the company already faces safety issues like the door plug blowout in January on the 737 Max King PES dandre live this morning Drew this uh not the first delay with this new revolutionary aircraft what's the latest that's right Jake and this is Boeing's um newest commercial aircraft that's on the market here and now they're going to have to delay these test and fix the parks that are necessary and figure out any other issues that they have in this case so here's what we know at this point the damage to the jetliner structure was found during scheduled maintenance it's not clear if this will delay deliveries of the trip 7x Boe says 481 have already been ordered those deliveries are slated for 2025 which is already about 5 years behind schedule the 7x is the world's largest twin engine jet its first test flight was all the way back in 2020 and it just started its flight test with the FAA in July before this latest delay this jetliner is built at Boeing's Factory in Everett now Boeing's new CEO Kelly ortberg visited that factory in Everett August 8th that was his first official day on the job these photos from Boeing are from that day and orberg was named CEO at the end of July now the tri 7x is considered the future and Jake the state of Washington has invested a lot in this particular aircraft yeah drewan the birth of the trip 7x program got off to a rocky start to say the least in 2013 the company threatened to leave the region and build a new airplane in its revolutionary composite Wing out of state at the time the union voted to say let's do it we voted no on a new contract it would have kept production here a revote was then cast and with some convincing union members joined in solidarity and a deal was reached to keep the trip 7x production here but not without some incentives hours after this vote then Governor Jay Insley announced a special session to try to come up with money to sweeten the deal for Boeing and they came up with a series of new and common tax incentives to do it days later the governor and lawmakers announ announced nine billion dollars in tax incentives for Boeing and the X-Wing to stay here Boeing says the Region's economy is getting the better end of the deal but 11 years later here we are this morning 5 years of delays later and the airplane still not ready to carry the fly public
