Welcome back to my series, Dance Moms Uncovered. The controversy I'm addressing this week is how Kendall screamed at Ashley then stormed out of the ALDC studio. The events I just mentioned take place in episode 13 of season 6 of Dance Moms, which aired on the 29th of March 2016. Lots of people criticised Kendall for being a brat.
What gives a kid the right to scream at an adult? Well, let's just say that there could be more to that day than the producers cared to show. After all my research, this is the theory that I believe fits all the available evidence the best. I have found some evidence that sheds new light on these events.
My first pieces of evidence are official tweets from Ashley Allen's Twitter account, and also an interview that Ashley participated in back in 2016. After this episode was aired, Ashley, Jill and Kendall all received a lot of backlash. Ashley defended herself by posting a few tweets explaining that this scene was heavily edited. Ashley's point about her words being edited at this point seemed absolutely true. Her voice doesn't echo in the clip like everyone else's dialogue in this scene.
Because everything out of your mouth is mean and hurtful. You're just jealous that Bryn has had a better season than Kendall. Ashley also mentioned why Jill and Kendall left the studio, on Twitter and in the interview.
Ashley is referring to when Jill says, we have better places to be, and rushes out of the dance studio. It's okay, let's go baby girl, we got better places. I believe that the audition is the reason why Kendall and Jill stormed out so quickly, but I don't think this is the reason why Kendall yelled at Ashley in the first place.
My next piece of evidence is actually the episode itself and the way it was edited. Did you notice that the audition was so fast? Notice when everyone is arguing in the hall, Ashley is the only one without subtitles?
If you listen carefully it sounds like she says the words, No, I said she doesn't, before Melissa cuts her off. It's the way she does Abby! No, I said she doesn't!
Shut up Ashley! It seems like she was saying that Kendall doesn't have something or she doesn't do something, neither of which sound like Ashley actually said that Brynn had a better season than Kendall. Evidence number three, Kendall answering fan questions.
Kendall has defended her actions both in a live stream and in a Q&A session held in 2016. She seems completely convinced that Ashley deserved to be yelled at. Yes, I yelled at her. Sure did.
You started laughing when I yelled at her? Yeah, me too. It was funny. She needed that. I was standing up for myself because she's kind of been picking on me for a long time.
In both clips, she talks about standing up for herself. She also claims that Ashley... Ashley has been saying mean things about her for a long time and that this time she didn't want to take it anymore.
Our next piece of evidence is one of these previous times that Ashley pointed out mean things people were saying on social media about Kendall. This piece of evidence is the Dance Moms bonus scene. During this scene posted to Lifetime's YouTube channel, Ashley shows Jill some comments posted to Instagram under a video clip of Brynn and Kendall's unaired duet, The Odd Couple. There was a little bootleg clip of the duo that got put on social media.
I don't know if you saw it, but a lot of the comments were, candles lost her passion. There, there it is. I think Bryn looks better than Kendall. Just give Bryn and Kalania to it. I found the post they read the comments from, which was uploaded by DanceMum Official Spoilers on November 8th of 2015. The comments that Jill read out loud were not even the meanest ones there.
I could imagine that during the pyramid, Ashley very well could have pointed out the mean comments about Kendall's dancing once again. Evidence number five, social media comments. Even with the suspicious editing, Ashley did seem to bring up something about social media, judging from the reactions of everyone in the room. It's all over social media.
It doesn't... Kendall, don't listen to her. It's not all over social media.
Trust me. She probably brought up something she had seen on social media bashing Kendall. On social media around this time, lots of people were commenting on Kendall's dancing.
During this week, Kendall's All Eyes On Me solo had just been aired, and there were lots of negative comments about Kendall's dancing. When Ashley says something bad about the kids on the show, it's usually about their dancing. And if she was active on social media at this time, of course she'd see the thousands of mean comments. If during Pyramid she brought up what people were saying about her, it would definitely explain Kendall's reaction and also this interview from Jill. Kendall's had a bad rap for a long time.
See, I can't even say it. While I believe that the evidence points to Ashley bringing up some mean comments that people were saying about Kendall on social media, I don't believe she's the villain here. She knew as well as everyone that in order to stay on this show, she had to give the producers the drama they wanted. You're trying to fight for your way for your daughter to get ahead and that's fine. And if that's what you want to be, that's what you want to be.
I think she just tried to stir up drama for the show and accidentally struck him out. I really never intended to hurt Kendall. I honestly had absolutely no idea how mad that was going to make you.
I really didn't. But let me know what you think. Is Kendall any more justified to yell at Ashley? If you have any other evidence for this issue, please let me know. I'll see you guys next time.
Bye. Bye.
