Question 1

• Question 1: "Solve the following inequalities"
• Talking about inequalities
• Previous exercise had equations, here we have inequalities
• Inequalities mean there is no equality on both sides
• There are four types of inequalities:
  • Greater than (>),
  • Less than (<),
  • Greater than or equal to (≥),
  • Less than or equal to (≤)
• Example:
  • If 5 > 3, how do we represent it

Solving Inequalities

• The value of x needs to be found
• Solution set format:
  • x such that
• Example:
  • 3x + 1 < 5x - 4
  • Solution: x > 5/2

Question 2

• Question 2: 4x - 10.3 < 21x - 1.8
• Solution:
  • Take x to one side, constants to the other
  • Ultimately: x ≥ -0.5

Other Questions

• Question 3: 4 - 1/2x < -7 + 1/4x
• Question 4: x - 2 * 5 - 2x < 6x - 3
• Question 5: x + 2/9 - 2x + 1/3 > -1
• Question 6: 3 * 2x + 1 > -2 * 2x + 5
• Question 7: 1 - 2x < 5 - x < 25 - 6x
• Question 8: 3x - 2 < 2x + 1 < 4x + 17
