hey y'all this is professor mccurdy here um looking at the bones of the appendicular skeleton right we're currently looking at the clavicle right we've got both a right clavicle and a left clavicle um as far as the markings um this side right here with this sort of uh more rounded and in profile slightly flatter side that is the acromial end right that marks the lateral side of the bone right so over here on the in the chromial end or acromial extremity on the left clavicle over here um this pointy bit which when you look at it sort of this way is a bit rounded that would be the medial side which we call the sternal end or sternal extremity near the the acromial end you can see this pointy bit here kind of maybe three quarters of the way towards the lateral side that is the conoid tubercle the coronary tubercle kind of tells you in a sense which way is down right kind of points down a little bit and once he's established um you know which is the superior and inferior side you know and which side is lateral which side is medial all you have to do is figure out where the front of the bone is and the back of the bone is the anterior posterior aspect of the bone and then you can begin to figure out which one is right and left right so this little pointy bit right there that always points backwards so um now you know which way is you know forward which way is anterior right which way is inferior which way is you know lateral and which way's medial you can kind of figure out now that this would be the left and this would be the right clavicle oops there we go
