Introduction to the JH ORCID Registry
- The JH ORCID Registry is managed by Welch Medical Library.
- It connects Johns Hopkins researchers with their unique ORCID records.
- The registry allows researchers to create, link, and manage their ORCID records.
Creating and Linking a New ORCID ID
- Go to ORCID.johnshopkins.edu to start the registration process.
- Use the provided link to visit the official ORCID website.
- Click "Register now" to begin creating a new ORCID ID.
- Optionally, link a Google or Facebook account for future access flexibility.
- Fill in your name and primary email address on the ORCID registration form.
- Ensure you do not already have an existing ORCID record before proceeding.
- If no existing record matches you, continue with registration.
- Create a secure, compliant password for your account.
Setting Up Your ORCID Account
- Choose your preferred visibility settings (full visibility is recommended but optional).
- Agree to the ORCID Terms of Use to complete registration.
- Authorize Johns Hopkins University (JHU) to have read-only access to your ORCID record.
- ORCID allows you to manage which institutions or parties have access to your record.
Final Steps and Access
- Affiliating your ORCID iD with your JHED is completed once authorization is given.
- You will be redirected to the JH ORCID registry after linking.
- Use the registry to access, edit, or search for other ORCID records by JHED.
