it's important when we're creating a 3d model to also think about the ceiling plane we're not going to go into the detail of putting an actual roof on this home but we are going to imply a ceiling and basically put a lid on it so i'm clicked outside of the group i have i can see my wall group here when i click and it turns blue i want to make sure i'm outside of the group and in any direction where i can actually see all of the exterior walls i'm going to trace that with my line tool and create a face over the top of this plan that will become the lid or when we look at interior views it will become the ceiling we're going to draw it tag it and then hide it first grab the line tool and starting at any end point just simply click and drag and click at every endpoint along the perimeter of your plan it is important that we stay in the red and green axis and i'm sure your plan is nice and geometrically straight so we'll click along till we meet back that original and you can see that it now sort of hid that it hid your model click on the select tool and then double click on the face of this new object that you created so it's a completely separate piece than our model which is exactly what we want it to be so while you're double clicked go ahead and right click and make group if any of you are working on the mac version i think you can hit command g and that will make the group for you with the select tool double-click in the group and using push-pull let's just give a little bit of volume to that so let's go ahead and pull it up four inches so i type four and enter and then click away so now we've got this lid on our our plan so roofs are not flat like this um maybe in some modern homes they are but there's got to be some kind of a slope so that water and things drain off of it so for our purposes it's a lid to imply a ceiling on the interior next we're going to give it its own tag so make sure that you have your tags panel open and go ahead and create a new tag so i'm going to hit the add tag and i'll also call this 01 you can call it roof or lid or ceiling even though we know it's technically not a roof so we've made the tag now click on that lid group that you just made open up your entity info panel and let's change that to the new roof layer that we created from here you can simply turn the eyeball on or off for the visibility so for now we'll go ahead and keep it off but we're ready to create some interior views and scenes we have a ceiling ready to go
