Mathematics Class 10: Chapter 13 - Statistics

Introduction of Lecture

  • Presenter: Mandeep
  • Subject: Mathematics, Chapter 13 - Statistics, Exercise 13.2
  • Total 6 questions in Exercise 13.2.

Exercise 13.2: Question 1

Question Details

  • Data related to the ages of patients admitted to a hospital is given.
  • We have to find the mode and mean.

Procedure to Find Mode and Mean

  1. To find the Mean:
    • Add the lower and upper limits of age.
    • Example: (5 + 15) / 2 = 10
  2. To find the Mode:
    • Determine f1, f0, and f2 from the frequency table.
    • Formula for Mode:
      [ \text{Mode} = l + \frac{f1 - f0}{2f1 - f0 - f2} \times h ]
    • Here, l = 35, h = 10
  3. Compare Mean and Mode.

Question 2

Question Details

  • Life-time data for 225 electrical components is given.
  • We have to find the modal life time.

Procedure

  1. Determine Frequency and Limits.
  2. Use the Formula for Mode:
    • Use the same formula for mode.
  3. Follow the Procedure to Find Mean.

Question 3

Question Details

  • Monthly household expenditure data of 200 families is given.
  • We have to find the modal and mean monthly expenditure.

Procedure

  1. To Find Mode:
    • Apply the same formula.
  2. For Mean:
    • Calculate x╠Д and then find the mean.

Question 4

Question Details

  • Data of teacher-student ratio in higher secondary schools in India is given.
  • We have to find mode and mean.

Procedure

  1. Determine Frequency and l, h.
  2. Apply the Formula for Mode.
  3. Calculate x╠Д for Mean.

Question 5

Question Details

  • Data of scores by top batsmen in One Day International Cricket is given.
  • We have to find the mode.

Procedure

  1. Find Mode from Frequency Table.
  2. Apply the Formula for Mode.

Question 6

Question Details

  • A student recorded the number of cars on the road.
  • We have to find the mode.

Procedure
