Temperature Mapping Study of a Warehouse

Purpose

  • Measure the temperature and humidity across the entire warehouse
  • Record readings of various points simultaneously and continuously

Duration

  • Minimum of 7 days
  • Maximum of 14 days

Method

  1. Data Logger Placement

    • Place data loggers at equal distances across the warehouse based on calculations
    • Can be placed in both existing and new warehouses
  2. Types of Tests

    • Empty Test
      • Conducted in a new warehouse without any load
      • Analyze readings for a couple of days
    • Loaded Test
      • Analyze readings under normal loaded conditions (at least 50% load)
      • Warehouse should be loaded to normal usage patterns (e.g., 60%)
    • Full Load Test
      • Conducted with 90-100% load
      • Use dummy loads if needed to achieve 100% capacity

Data Recording

  • Download data from loggers upon completion
  • Upload to mapping study software
  • Software generates results

Analysis

  • Temperature and humidity analyzed separately
  • Recommended humidity level: below 65% RH for medicine storage

Equipment

  • Standard data loggers or wireless real-time data loggers
    • Wireless real-time loggers allow for remote data monitoring

Reporting

  • Summary graphs for all tests (empty, loaded, door opening, startup, power failure)
  • Includes maximum and minimum temperature, duration of excursions, etc.
  • Report comprises risk analysis, recommendations, and details of each test
  • Qualification report includes equipment details and calibration reports

Summary & Recommendations

  • Summarize test results
  • Identify hot and cold points
  • Recommend positions for recording instruments
