How to Save and Share a Microsoft Teams Recording
Saving a Recording
After a meeting ends, the recording is automatically saved.
Recorded meetings appear in the chat section of Microsoft Teams.
The person who starts the recording has access to the saved recording.
Viewing Recordings
All attendees of the meeting can view the recording.
Recordings are accessible from the chat window in Microsoft Teams.
Sharing Recordings
To share a recording, use the 'Share' button.
You can specify individuals who will have access to view the recording.
By default, shared recordings are view-only.
Specific access settings can allow others to download recordings.
Managing Access
Only the person who started the recording can grant download access.
Admins may require download access to save recordings in OneDrive.
If you need to send the recording with download access, it must be done by the person who recorded it.
Detailed Access Control
You can manage access by specifying who can view or download.
"Block download" can be unticked to allow downloads.
Sharing with "Anyone with the link" makes the recording public.
Sharing with Multiple People
You need to send separate links for different access levels (view vs. download).
To send one link for viewing and another for downloading, use separate messages.
Practical Example
To share a recording allowing only viewing access to some and download access to others, send separate links.
Example: Share a link with Sam for downloading to OneDrive and another with the team for viewing only.
Key Points
Always verify who has access to view or download recordings.
Consider the security implications of sharing recordings with "Anyone with the link".
Separate sharing requests for viewing and downloading may be necessary to maintain control over who can do what with the recording.
