how's it going everybody my name is eric and in this video i'm going to show you three ways how to set up your canon printer wirelessly on your home network specifically we're going to be working on this canon g4210 it's a mega tank printer however this tutorial will work for so many other printers made by canon the process overlaps which is beautiful it doesn't have to be specific to every single model however you will have to have a printer with an lcd screen on it like that it's got to be a wi-fi printer to begin with otherwise you're not going to be able to connect to your network anyways the first way i'm going to show you is the easiest way the second way i'm going to show you is the second easiest way but you need a tablet or a phone in order to do it and the third way is like the most pain in the butt way and that is manually typing everything into the screen on here and if you want to skip to any of those three methods look in the description of the video so you don't have to watch all three or if you get frustrated on the first one go to the second one if you get frustrated on the second one go to the third one between all three of them i'm confident you should be able to hook it up to your wi-fi network with that being said thank you guys so much for watching if you haven't already please give the video a thumbs up if you aren't already subscribed to the channel consider subscribing if you have any questions about the tutorial learning problems throw them in the comments section and if you want to see a video on how to print from your iphone or your android phone check the videos in the description specifically for canon step-by-step tutorial kind of like this that shows you how to print from those devices but my arm's getting tired let's get into the printer and hook this up to our wi-fi network so the first and the easiest method to connect a canon printer to your wi-fi network is to turn your printer on you're going to press this button with the pliers and the screwdriver that brings you to your setup menu setup mode it's going to say wireless lan setup on the screen you're going to hit ok here you have your options you're going to scroll through them with these arrows we're going to go to wps push button we're going to hit ok we're going to press ok again and as you can see it says connecting then you're going to go over to your router i have my asus router right here i'm going to hold the wps button until the power button starts flashing it may vary depending on your router you might have to look up how to activate the wps on your router or you might not have a wps on your router and if that's the case you're gonna have to go to method two or method three as you can see it says connected press okay we're going to press ok if we press the pliers and the screwdriver again we will see a wi-fi icon as well as a signal bar it disappears real quick but that means you are indeed connected to your wireless router if you have a mesh network router like an orbi if you turn it over and press the sync button hold the sync button for a little bit that is your wps button they call it something different on these mesh routers so depending on your router your wps or your sync button may vary that might be something you have to google if you still can't get it connected with the wps button go to method two and then to method three second method of how to get your canon printer connected to your wi-fi network you're going to need a smartphone or a tablet if it's an android device you're gonna go to the play store if it's an ios device you're going to go to the app store you're going to download the canon print inkjet selfie app right now it's 10 million plus downloads and 4.5 star review and then you're going to hit install once it has downloaded and installed you're going to hit open agree to their terms of service agree to the terms of service okay allow access to the location while you're using the app allow access to everything that it needs you get hit with an ad x out of the ad hit with another ad x out of the head so once you have that app downloaded then we're going to go to our printer screen your printer needs to be turned on you're going to hit the plier with the screwdriver button and then give it a second you're going to see wireless lan setup you're going to hit ok you're going to see easy wlconnect you're going to hit ok and now the screen says processing it's giving the printer some instructions that it needs to do and now it says follow the instructions on the pc or smartphone so we're going to go back to our device open that app do you want to search for available printers we're going to go yes and now it's going to search and hopefully find the printer that is now emitting a signal that we're going to directly connect to okay so now it says set up wi-fi for the following printer canon and then some numbers g4010 series i'm going to hit ok connect to device that's letting my smartphone directly connect to the printer select your wireless router so now you're going to pick your wi-fi signal it's going to pick up a bunch of them around you ours is eight foot ceilings and then you're going to type in your password our password is year of the aux this is case sensitive uppercase lowercase numbers underscores all that stuff matters so make sure you type in exactly what the password is otherwise it's not going to work and then you're going to hit ok now it's saving that password to the printer and the printer is now going to find that network and it's going to automatically connect to it because we told it which network to connect to and the password to that network now it says easy wl connect is completed please press ok we're going to press ok now that that ran through if you press the pliers and the screwdriver again you will see there's a wi-fi icon with a signal bar meaning that your printer is connected to your wi-fi network that was method number two if you don't have a smartphone and you don't have a wps button you're gonna have to check out method number three and that's when we type the password directly into the printer now we're going to get into the third method of connecting this printer to your wifi network and this is if you don't have a smartphone you don't have a wps button you just want to connect it to your network this is like the failsafe that everyone should be able to do if you have access to your wi-fi network and the password make sure your printer is on then you're going to hit the plier with the screwdriver and you're going to give it a second and it pops up with wireless lan setup you're going to hit ok easy wlconnect we're going to go over we're going to go to manual connect hit ok right now the printer is searching for wireless networks and it finds them based off of how strong the signal is is what's going to come up first so that's probably your network but if it's not you can cycle through it with these arrows and look for your network name ours is eight foot ceiling so we're gonna hit okay and it selected the network eight foot ceilings and we're gonna hit okay again and now it's asking for our passphrase you're going to type in using this number pad you need to delete a character you're going to press this back button it defaults to lowercase but if you need to change it to uppercase you're going to hit the star button and if you can see on the screen it will change from a lowercase a to an uppercase a that means you are in uppercase mode which means all of the letters that you type in will be an uppercase if you need to delete a letter just hit back arrow back arrow back arrow back arrow back arrow that will delete your characters if you need to go to numbers you're going to hit the asterisk again and it's going to change the uppercase a to a 1 that means you are in number mode and can type in the numbers so you may have to change between uppercase lowercase and numbers which is a big pain but you have to do it the way you type it in reminds me of the t i think it was called t9 texting back in the day it was kind of like that if the letters are on the same number you will have to press the over key for instance if your password was deal you'd have to type in d and then you'd have to press over and then to get to e hopefully that made sense otherwise you're just going to cycle through the letters and it's never going to let you advance so use these arrow keys to go forward or backwards and the delete key as you're typing in your password if needed our password is year of the aux so i'm going to type that in it needs to be typed in perfectly for this to work otherwise it's going to be frustrating we just typed our password in we're going to press ok it's now it says it's connecting now it's sending that password to the router and asking for permission to be on your network as you can see it says and we got connected press ok we're going to hit ok if you press the plier and the screwdriver again you'll see the wi-fi and the signal bars and that means you are indeed on your network hopefully one of these three methods helped you set up your canon printer on your wireless network i do appreciate everyone for watching if you haven't already please give the video a thumbs up if you have any questions put them in the comment section and i will talk to you guys in the next video bye you
