Aerospace Engineering
Introduction
Aerospace engineering is a popular and important branch.
There are fewer job opportunities because there are fewer companies in this field.
Challenges
Large amounts of money and land are needed to start major industries.
For example, setting up an iron factory requires 20 acres of land.
Agricultural land costs around 2 million per acre and commercial land costs around 10 million per acre, making it very expensive.
A large amount of capital is required, so mainly big companies can invest in this field.
Major Companies
Major companies like Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Dassault Airwaves work in aerospace.
These companies sell their products, like fighter jets and airplanes, at very high prices.
Employees of these companies receive high packages.
Curriculum and Skills
Knowledge in mechanical engineering, mathematics, physics, drafting, aerodynamics, aircraft design, aerospace propulsion, flight mechanics, structural mechanics, etc., is necessary.
Work is also done in the fields of communication systems, mechanical systems, propulsion systems, etc.
Career Opportunities
There are opportunities for aerospace engineers in major institutions like ISRO and NASA.
Big companies abroad also hire aerospace engineers at good packages.
However, getting employment is difficult, so think carefully before choosing this career.
Entrepreneurship
Doing entrepreneurship in the aerospace field is very difficult as it is a very capital-intensive field.
Opening a new company is not easy; a heavy amount of investment is required to lay the foundation.
Aeronautical vs Aerospace
There is a slight difference between aeronautical and aerospace engineering, but similar skills are needed for both.
Jobs are very few, so this should be kept in mind when choosing a career.
