when it comes to finding and using keywords on Pinterest one of the things that I find my community struggles with the most is twofold number one deciding what types of keywords that they should be looking for and using and then going Beyond just the basic keywords that they find on the platform and getting deeper into the keyword research for each individual topic that they are creating content for so when it comes to Pinterest SEO we obviously know the three main ways to find keywords are the search bar the trends tool and the ads manager there are a few external tools these days that are starting to pop up I don't want to talk about those today I just want to talk about the types of keywords that you should be using so I have spent months brainstorming this across all the different niches and trying to come to some sort of consensus on the types of keywords that you should be looking for what I have come up with are nine different keyword categories that you should be utilizing across your content meaning your Pinterest pins your Pinterest boards and even inside of the content that you're creating on your website or in your products and elsewhere now remember those three main ways to find keywords are right on Pinterest so you can utilize these keyword categories and find your keywords on the platform now if you want to learn how to use these keywords obviously you actually getting a sneak peek of what I teach and how I teach inside the membership so without further Ado number one is Discovery and inspiration so Discovery and inspiration keywords are related to things that your audience is looking for across all the niches they are looking to see what other people have done they want to get inspired they may not know what they need just yet and that is where things like best wedding ideas for 2024 comes in okay so Discovery and inspiration is category number one additional things for this is like wedding ideas art inspiration where to travel in Europe like they are basically just looking for Discovery and that is the entire point of Pinterest is for Discovery and inspiration category number two is pretty obvious it's how- to an educational content almost every single person creating content has something that fits into this category whether you consider it to be that or not so how to an educational content is obviously like this right here this video I'm creating this is educational content people are always looking for a strong um focus in DIY and things that they can do themselves whether they want to ultimately do it themselves or not like we just remodeled um one of the bathrooms well both bathrooms in our house over the last year and we also redid our floors I was looking for educational content before I ever got into gutting the house looking to see if this was something I could actually do for myself so people are doing this on Pinterest and on other search engines your audience really wants to know if this is something that they can accomplish so using keywords like how to paint with watercolors or to lay hardwood floors are going to be Search terms that they're looking for often times the keyword search term is going to start with how to so just let that be your guide category number three are product or service specific keywords so if you are a photographer if you're some sort of a service provider if you are a web designer a graphic designer if you are a video editor people are going to be looking for keywords related to your Niche so actually on Pinterest there are keywords for Pinterest managers or Pinterest virtual assistants now of course some people might be using those terms for learning how to become one of those they're also looking for those terms for how to hire those people so product or specific uh service specific keywords are going to follow that line of thinking so web designers for show it why is that pertinent right now in my mind because I was looking for tips on how to edit my show it website so I was looking for web designers who do show it hoping on their websites I would find howto content see see where I'm going this specific keyword category is actually going to probably be pretty bottom the funnel because somebody looking for a specific service provider is probably going to be looking to hire or purchase a service of some sort so keep that in mind now keyword category number four is location based keyw if you are doing any local Pinterest marketing you should be using location based keywords that doesn't just mean this category is only for people who are doing local that also means if you're a photographer if you're a service provider in a specific area if you're a travel Creator if you're a food Creator whatever you are if you are creating specific content based on locations then you should be using location based keywords people are often times looking for things to do places to go places to eat places to stay um service providers in specific areas this is heavily prevalent in the wedding space the photography space the travel space obviously so an example of this would be like things to do in Montreal okay keyword category number five is budget and pricing based keywords budget and pricing based keywords are really for those people who are definitely budget conscious or are looking to do things in a very specific manner or achieve a specific goal IE money so whether it's affordable home decor budget wedding planning tips budget travel tips Budget Home Decor tips whatever it is they are looking for things like affordable airfare tips affordable airfare affordable home decor how to decorate my well this goes back to the how too but like how to decorate my my rental for cheap things like that so keep that in mind as you are looking for keywords specific to your Niche category number six is product review and comparisons now this is definitely a type of blog post that you should be creating on your website and I talked about that in past videos for Content creation purposes but review uh product reviews and comparisons are one of the single best ways that I have earned affiliate Commission in my business this year in fact I have earned more from one company based on my product review that I did for them my YouTube video and my blog post than I have paid them by a wide margin the way that people are looking for this is based on review keywords so they're going to type in like you know Lowe's Ventana Tucson Arizona review into a platform into a search engine like Pinterest and they're going to be looking for reviews of other people who have stayed there or have visited there or have consumed that product or service or traveled via that mode of travel whatever it is so reviews and comparisons are definitely a keyword that you should be including especially if you are a product seller or you're doing any sort of affiliate marketing an example of this is like best wedding venues in Tucson so people are looking not only for the venues but they are also looking for reviews on the venues this is also something that should be representative in your actual imagery as well so if you make uh if you're making this content for reviews or comparisons making Pinterest images that say like insert company product name review 2024 make sure you keep your reviews updated because people are looking for this content consistently moving on to category number seven category number seven is seasonal or trend-based keywords these this keyword category is for more obviously for more seasonal or trend-based creators often times you can find seasonal and trend-based keywords even if you're an evergreen business um there are definitely things even in my evergreen business that I could use as seasonal or trend-based so every year at the end of the year people are looking to do planning goal planning and things like that so I could definitely incorporate that in people are looking to do holiday marketing campaigns they're looking to add that in so seasonal or Trend based is definitely not just for seasonal and trend-based creators so whether you're looking to do interior design Trends if you're a wedding planner wedding photographer wedding Creator if you are in food fashion it doesn't matter there is probably some sort of seasonal or trend-based keyword that you can utilize in your content we are Nearing the end number eight is personalization and customization so these keywords really are for a lot of different niches but the niches that I was creating specific for the examples in this video were obviously um art artists I use that one specifically wedding creators or wedding professionals and travel those were the three big industries that I was using for like keyword examples in this video I don't know if you've noticed that yet or not but a lot of different Industries and services can use the personalization or customization style keywords an example of this could be like custom wedding invitations or even in like the bag space I don't know how I've done this over the years but I've ended up with like five different leather bag companies that I've done work for and all of them offer some level of customization or personalization so if you have gifts that you're selling if you have um you know fashion or if you're doing wedding invites or if you're even doing personalized travel itineraries or anything like that like be thinking about the ways that you can use the personalization or customization keyword category okay category number nine is guides and itineraries guides and itineraries obviously come to mind for travel we know that but if you are in a space where your audience is navigating trying to make decisions and they need help with putting things together then think about the guides or itineraries that you can put together I actually when I built this office I wish there would have been some sort of like guide for decorating like a minimalist like retro themed boho I don't even know desert themed office because it would have been so helpful so if you're in home decor interior design if you're in fashion like there can be guides for all of those things and those kind of keywords can definitely fit in it can also fit in in the wedding space if you're creating guides for weddings or wedding planning if you're creating like guides on I don't know like creating a perfect dinner date or party at home or whatever it is guides and itineraries are basically just detailed guides to do something specific so what kind of keywords can you find on that an example would be like monthly uh a month by month wedding planning guide now the example didn't quite fit on the slide in the little box in the little search bar so the search bar keyword is different than what I was thinking but like monthly wedding planning guide or month-by-month wedding planning guide travel guides to fill-in the blank city uh be thinking about those things now I have a bonus category for you and the only reason it's a bonus is because I miscounted how many categories there were there's actually 10 so the 10th category is specific audience or demographic keyword now I think a lot of people actually miss out on this they just don't think about doing it so when I think about teaching or I teach in my membership people how to find keywords I ask them like let's add some context to your PIN title and tell people who it's for and in a lot of cases that is your audience or your demographic so tailoring your content and your keywords specific to a demographic can actually help you find a cack in the search results and help you to get found easier people are looking for things for themselves so make sure you are applying Search terms that identify your audience an example of this would be like budget conscious if people are budget conscious or stay-at-home moms or uh child-free women um rers actually I was doing a keyword research stent recently for an audit I was doing and and one of my client's top pins is actually for renters specifically so like a rental decorating hacks people are looking for that so who are they call them out in your keyword research now of course if you want to learn more about finding and using your keywords or specific keywords that you should be using and finding for your
