Tiece Trial Process

Introduction

• Presenter: Suzanne, a respiratory therapy student.
• Purpose: To conduct a tiece trial at 35% as ordered by the physician.

Initial Setup

• Patient Check:
  • Verify patient's name and date of birth.
  • Ensure patient safety and hygiene by washing hands and wearing gloves.

Equipment Preparation

• Equipment Needed:
  • Corated tubing.
  • Aerosol container.
• Settings:
  • Set aerosol container to 35%.
  • Adjust flow meter to 8 liters.

Procedure

• Preparation:

  • Put ventilator on standby.
  • Disconnect ventilator from the patient.

• Monitoring:

  • Ensure continuous mist flow through the tubing.
  • Check patient's oxygen saturation levels to ensure they remain stable.

Documentation

• Record how long the patient remains on the tiece trial.
• Note the patient's response to the trial to update the physician.

Follow Up

• Inform the patient of future checks and reassure them of ongoing monitoring and support.
