Engine Block and Rotating Assembly

  • Closed Deck Aluminum Blocks: Replaced sleeves with Darden stock bore sleeves.
  • Main Caps: Installed Billet main caps by Masor.
  • Rotating Assembly: Includes Brian Crower stroker crankshaft (91 mm stroke), Boost Line I-beam fully forged connecting rod, and custom Wiseco Forge pistons.
  • Bearings: ACL bearing set (Mains, rods, thrust).

OEM Parts and Upgrades

  • Timing Components: New timing guides, timing chain kit, lower gear, and Masw Works mechanical timing chain tensioner.
  • Head Gasket: Apex head gasket.
  • Oil: Initial run with 10W40 Motul break-in oil, then switch to 10W40 300V racing oil.
  • Cylinder Head: Port and polish, new valving, Brian Crower spring set with titanium retainers.
  • Camshafts: Brian Crower Stage 3.
  • Ignition: R35 GTR ignition coil kit from Platinum Racing Products.

Engine Management and Exhaust

  • ECU: Haltech Standalone engine management system with Elite series ECU.
  • Turbo Setup: Rtech turbo manifold with v-band G377 Garrett G Series turbo, GBW 45 wastegate.
  • Intake and Fuel: Hyun intake manifold, Dworks fuel injectors, ATI super damper.

Engine Assembly Process

  • Piston Rings: Checking and adjusting piston ring end gaps for high-boost applications.
  • Pistons and Rods: Assembling pistons and rods, ensuring smooth movement and proper fit.
  • Crankshaft and Bearings: Checking clearances with plastic gauge, ensuring proper assembly and lubrication.
  • Thrust Clearance: Checking crankshaft end play.

Final Assembly Steps

  • Oil and Timing Components: Installed oil block, water pump, timing components, and PRP billet oil pump gears.
  • Short Block Completion: Priming the oil pump, installing oil pans, and preparing for cylinder head installation.

Cylinder Head and Valve Train

  • Cylinder Head Installation: Using MZworks head stud kit and torquing to spec.
  • Valve Train Setup: Installing lifters, shims, rockers; addressing SR20 rocker issues with guide shims.
  • Camshafts and Timing: Installing and timing Brian Crower camshafts, adjustable cam gears.

Final Adjustments

  • Valve Cover and Dress-Up: R35 GTR gold valve cover, using Platinum Racing Products dress-up hardware.
  • Intake and Exhaust: Installing manifolds with PRP titanium stud kits, preparing turbo installation.
