welcome to Broward virtual school driver's education we are happy you decided to take this course and excited to help you get started the first thing to do is take note of your teachers contact information by now you should have received an email with your teacher's name and number as well as links to help you get started be sure to save your teachers number so you will recognize the number when they call once activated you will see their full contact information including phone number email links to schedule an appointment and office hours when contacting your teacher be sure to always leave a message when they are unable to answer the phone they will call you back as soon as possible this course is intended to be completed in 12 weeks or last while online learning allows you to work at times that are convenient for you there is a weekly work expectation while you are welcomed and encouraged to work ahead of pace you should never get behind your assignments for each week are due by Sunday night of that week failure to complete weekly work will result in zeros for overdue assignments these zeros can be replaced with full credit once the assignment is complete continued missing work will lead to removal from the course the 12-week pace chart will be emailed to you when you are activated in the course and will also be viewable above your driver's ed gradebook as you work through this course you will begin in a grace period during the grace period you are expected to complete your weekly work on time and with passing grades if you have not completed all assignments through the module 3.5 quiz with passing grades by the end of the grace period you will be removed from the course you are welcome to sign up for the course again at a later date when you have more time to work in the class please note that students with academic integrity concerns which will be discussed in the next slides within the grace period will also be removed from the course when working in this course it is important to exercise academic integrity academic integrity is doing your own work all the time and every time you submit an assignment be sure that you submit your own original work specific to each assignment and based on course material consequences for academic integrity violations may include reduced grades automatic zeros or even removal from the course be sure to always submit only your own work navigate your course you will need to access the main menu to access the main menu click on the small three line square at the top of the driver's ed homepage this will open up a list of options including lessons and gradebook we will be exploring gradebook first when you open your gradebook you will see all 43 of your assignments this is where you will track the assignments you have and have not completed you can view your grades on each assignment read feedback and make corrections to written work you have the option on written assignments to use teacher feedback to make corrections and resubmit for full credit please take advantage of this opportunity you will also see your pace chart at the top of your gradebook the pace chart outlines the assignments that are due each week if you have trouble staying on pace or completing on time be sure to contact your teacher immediately for one-on-one help back to the main menu and now we will select lessons this is where you find your reading assignments and quizzes click hit the road to get started right away you will be asked for personal information this information will be used to issue your TL SAE drug and alcohol certificate which is required to get a learner's license if you see any incorrect information like proper name spelling birth year or gender be sure to click the edit button to make it accurate be sure to include the last four digits of your social security number you will not receive a certificate without it if you do not have a social security number please contact your teacher for additional options once all information is correct click to confirm and continue if you are missing any enrollment information you will still have the opportunity to add it in later to begin work click start course navigation is fairly simple the menu on the Left guide you through your assignments and course content is on the right if you would like to read your lessons in full screen click on the three line square at the top of the main menu it will hide the menu and show only your reading as you can see you will have a better view of course content as you complete each reading you'll be prompted to continue and notified of what is coming next at the end of each section you will have a short quiz to gauge your progress and understanding take notes when you read to achieve the best score possible when you arrive at one of the four written assignments you will be prompted with instructions on completing written work read and follow these directions carefully there are additional icons that help you along the way including a glossary bookmarks and help button and driver Quick Links feel free to explore these features as you work after you finish your readings quizzes and written work we complete the discussion based assessment do you complete the discussion based assessment or DBA simply use the scheduler link on the course page to arrange a time for your teacher to call you while you wait use the study resources to prepare for the DBA once the DBA is complete you will be given the final exam password before taking the final exam be sure that all retests and corrections you have chosen to make are submitted once you take the final exam the course is considered complete and your final grade will be issued once the final grade is issued your TL SAE certificate as well as the link to take your general knowledge exam or permit test will be sent to your virtual school email address be sure to check your virtual school email for these
