Hello everyone! So this video is specifically made out for those people I get messages on Instagram, emails from many people that what all will be required to become a pilot in India So in this video, there will be more videos available in the market but in this video I will try to simply things for you and your parents that if you watch this video then you will know everything about what you have to do to become a pilot. Stepwise I will explain everything to you, whatever time you are taking for this video let's do it. Even after this if you have any doubts then you can come and tell us in the comments.
If you have any doubts then we will come back to that in the next video. So let's start off with today's video. So I would like you all to take a screenshot of this thing.
So that it is easier for you to refer it to whenever you want. In the 7th step, all your preparation will be covered till the time you become an Airman pilot. So starting off with the first step, I have told you all the steps by dividing them.
First step is eligibility. Are you even eligible to become a pilot? I will make this video in Hindi and English so that some parents are also watching. Many parents like my parents are not too fluent in English also.
So that parents also understand things and after that also... because as a student you should know English obviously in aviation you have to be very fluent but yes you should know general English so let's talk about eligibility 17 years is the minimum age to start your pilot training Now, there are many questions about what is the maximum age? What is the maximum age? There is no maximum age for this. You can do pilot training whenever you want.
But obviously, you are doing pilot training because you have to do job in an airline. So, there is a maximum limit for an airline. So, generally, depending on how many vacancies have come at that time, In present times, on an average, most of the airlines hire people up to the age of 35 years. There is one odd airline which sometimes puts 32 km limit. But majority of the airlines hire people up to the age of 35 years.
There are some airlines which are hiring people up to the age of 40 years also. So I would say if you are starting your pilot training, you should not, you should basically consider thinking investing that much amount if you are above the age of 32 or 33. Because if you start at 32, you will finish all your training by 34. So then you will be able to apply for majority of the airlines and get a job. Your qualifications have to be minimum 10 plus 2. 10 plus 2 is basically 12th class. So you should pass 12th class.
It can be from any board. It can be from state board, CBSE, ICSE, does not matter. All the boards are accepted. However, science students should not face any issue.
because you have to have physics and maths in your 12th class you should have passed this subject there is no minimum percentage requirement as such but you should have clear physics and maths so science students don't have this problem generally you have physics and maths in your 12th class some students have PCBs so you don't have maths Some students have an art side or a commerce side. So in that case also, you cannot become a pilot. You can still become a pilot. What you have to do in that case is, you have to go through NIOS. NIOS is is basically National Institute of Open Schooling.
So in 12th, you don't have to give all the papers, you have to pay attention to the most doubts. Only physics and only math, only these two papers you have to give through NIOS. Many students of physics and math from commerce and arts we prepare them for exams and send them to students.
So through NIOS, this problem gets solved. Now some students, they say I have diploma. They have not done 12th but they have done diploma.
So they are also eligible to become pilots. Wherever you have done your diploma, there is something called equivalency certificate. So you need that equivalency certificate.
So from your qualification point of view, You are cleared. So diploma students can also apply. 10 plus 2 should be there.
Physics, Maths, NIOS. Open schooling is done. So that part is covered. Now if you are eligible Sometimes people ask how much percentage you should have.
In any of these, you don't have any requirement of percentage. There is a reason for that. There was one odd airline once they asked for that percentage.
But generally, 95% of the time Airlines don't ask you for percentage So you must be thinking how can a 33% pilot be made Just like I want to tell you with reference to giving you an example So like in the UPSC exams What happens is that they only ask you for graduation To sit in the UPSC exam They don't ask you for percentage Because they say that you clear our exams UPSC says that we are setting the exam, you clear this then you are eligible and you become an IPS or ISA so same thing is here DGCA is the governing authority for pilots in India Directorate General of Civil Aviation they say that sometimes you were not serious in school or the percentage is not good they set their own paper for pilots you pass this paper and if you can clear this exam then you are eligible to become pilots so that is the reason they don't ask for any percentage So now you are eligible, the first step after that that you do is your medicals. You have to be medically fit to become pilots. And when I say medically fit, I am not saying that you have to make a 22 inch body and a gym. That medical fitness is internal fitness basically.
Did I? A lot of tests that will be conducted in the medicals for example your urine test, blood test, x-ray, ECG. They want you to be physically and mentally fit for you to become pilots. So this medical is divided into two parts.
First is the class 2 medical and the second one is class 1 medical. Now what is the difference between Class 2 and Class 1 Medical? I have written the prices here, approximate charges are there depending on which doctor you go to, charges may vary somebody charges 8000, somebody charges 10000 so the prices may vary So, the difference is basically Class 2 Medical is the initial medical that you have to do This is done only once, it takes one day This is done by any DGC approved private doctor So whichever city you are living in India You will have a close by doctor so that you don't have to come all the way To bigger centres to do your Class 1 medical And in Class 2 medical they do filtering So any DGC approved doctors You will go to them, you will do your Class 2 medical And the doctor will send a report to the Indian Air Force where you have Class 1 medicals So if you clear the Class 2 medical then only you are eligible to do the Class 1 medical So Class 2 medical is cleared which 95% of people clear the medicals It is not a difficult medical Generally everybody is fit Only 5% of people have problems of color blindness So if you are color blind you cannot become a pilot or someone else has some other issue so depending on that your medical can drop in that case otherwise generally 95% of people do not fail in medical So if you have cleared your class 2 then you apply for class 1 medical. Class 1 medical is conducted by Indian Air Force or there are certain private hospitals which are approved for it.
There are only a few private hospitals which are approved. For example in Delhi Apollo hospital is approved. In Mumbai Nanavati hospital is approved. So only a few private hospitals and majority Indian Air Force will do. So in Delhi also there are Air Force.
where this class 1 medical is conducted in Bangalore also. So there are various places where these medicals are conducted. The question comes why do we have two medicals? Class 1 and Class 2. These are for filtering process. Basically, Air Force does not want that all the people come to them and they face small problems.
They come to do medical and then they are wasting Air Force's time. So Air Force says that... Major filtering process will be done by Class 2 medicals. If everybody is normally fit according to Class 2, then they will do detailed examination in Class 1 medical examination.
Majority of people who clear Class 2, most of them 99% of the people they clear Class 1 medical also. It doesn't happen that they fail in Class 1 because that filtering has already been done in Class 2. Its charges are approximately the same, 8000 to 10000. Same for audiometry, ear testing, eye testing, all tests. Now, what are the questions that come up in medicals?
Doubts generally people ask, glasses. I have glasses, can I become a pilot? Yes, of course, if you have glasses also you can become a pilot. They say that your vision should be 6x6.
6x6 is generally, basically your vision should be perfectly fine. With the glasses on, some people have a vision problem even after wearing glasses. Now the question arises, is my vision in negative or positive? It does not matter.
If you can see perfectly after wearing glasses, then you can become a better person. a pilot. Generally pilots with specs they are recommended to carry one extra set when they are flying as airline pilots.
So airline pilots who wear many glasses but they have to carry an extra set with them in flight. Reason being that sometimes by mistake they If you fall and break one of your glasses, then you should always have the other one in spare. Second question people generally ask is weight. If I am underweight or overweight, then what is the problem?
There is no problem. Weight is not an issue because pilot's job is not a physical job. More often it is more of a mental job.
So they do not say anything about weight. The only thing to do is if you are overweight, your tests will increase. So in your class 2 or class 1 test, they will do some extra tests if your weight is slightly higher.
So they will do some sugar testing, diabetting testing. So if all these tests are cleared, then weight is not an issue at all to become pilots. Other question we get color blind. So color blind is a no-no.
If you are a color blind then obviously you cannot become a pilot. If you are being shown a different color or light then that becomes an issue. So safety point of view is not a no-no.
People ask about height How much height is required for a pilot So listen carefully DGCA has not given any minimum requirement for height Because they say it is a mental job not a physical job However, it is not like someone can be a pilot if he is 4 feet tall So DGCA has said that when a pilot is sitting in the cockpit where basically cockpit is the area where pilots fly from so if you are sitting there there are a lot of switches on the top so while sitting your hands should reach all the switches your feet should reach the brakes and you should look ahead so you should have this much height so how much is that height? so I say if your height is above 5'2 You will never face height issues For boys and girls, the height requirement is same It is not that it is more for boys or girls The height requirement is same So if it is 5'2 or above Then you are perfectly on the safe side You are in the green zone, there is no tension for height But if you are less than 5'2 So then you have to go to the medical doctor. Class 2 doctors, the nearest doctors, the list is available on the website of DGCA. And if you want, you will be given the number below. You can contact the academy as well.
There they will provide you all the information for the closest doctor that is available to you. So if you come below 5'2", consult a doctor. Doctor says that you are medically fit, height wise you are okay, then you can proceed on. I personally know a couple of pilots whose height is a bit less than 5'2", but they are still flying for airlines. Surgery, if you have done a particular type of surgery in your body, is that allowed? I will not be able to answer the question of surgery here because there are a lot of surgeries, different types of surgeries. Some surgeries are allowed, some are not allowed.
So in that case also, we will recommend you to go to the nearest doctor, that class 2 doctor and he or she will be able to tell you whether this particular type of surgery is allowed in aviation or not. So, medically now you are fit. I will always recommend to everyone that do your medicals before you start your flight training to become an airline pilot.
Because, this information is not given to you by many people. In fact, I was a victim of this also. When I went for my pilot training, I didn't have that much information at that time and there was not much Google and Internet at that time so somebody had sent me to a flight school I went there to do flight training and I didn't know that they are doing medical in India and I went there without doing medical to do flight training I did my medicals after coming back Now I think of it that if my medical failed after flight training then all that money that I had spent would have been wasted So definitely get medicals done first And there is no requirement for medicals that 12th should be finished You can get medicals done in 11th too This class 2 medical is valid for 24 months Class 1 has medical for 1 year So as soon as I say for 12th exam you get medical done at the same time By the time your results will come this whole process would have been over Ok, so next step is computer number. Now what is computer number? I don't know why they named it as Computer Number Basically this computer number is like Every Indian has an Aadhar Number Government has given you Aadhar Number So basically government identifies you with that number Similarly, all the pilots who go to the airport The DTC Authority will identify you with this number So this number will be an allot And on what basis?
On the basis of your documentation So they will They will ask you to submit a photo of yourself, your signature, 10 plus 2 documents, Aadhar card or ID card. So all this will be uploaded on the DGCA website and DGCA will issue your computer number. There are no charges for this, it is free of cost.
It takes around 30 days. However, they are very critical about these documents I would say. Because this is going to be an all life number with you, so there is no forgery. Once computer number is taken, third thing that you do is, ground glasses.
So you see, Abhi tak hamle eligibility is done, side by side your medicals are done and you have to do ground classes Flight training is divided into two parts The training for becoming a pilot is divided into two parts One is written exams that you have to pass the paper before studying Second is flight training that you need practical knowledge after flying So the first part of ground classes In ground classes, these are the five subjects that you have to study Now what are the five subjects First is your navigation Basically, how do you go from one place to the second place? We have done the metrology, now we will tell you about the weather. Air regulation, you will know about the air laws, how do pilots fly, what rules to follow.
Technical general, we will teach you about the parts of the airplane, how the airplane flies, what parts are in the engine, all that comes in it. RTR is radio telephony, basically you as a pilot from ATC controller. Radio call, all those things, issues, technical, what instruments are used, you read about that. In this now you will see, in blue color, it is written abroad.
So out of these 5 exams, the first 4 exams are conducted by the DGCA. But the last exam of RTR is conducted by the WPC. Ministry of Communication Department. Because it comes under communication, you communicate, so it is a separate exam. It is written abroad in the blue that this flight training can be done in any country.
You will do the ground classes here, you will give the DGCA exams in India. But the second part of flight training which I was telling you about, practical flying, you can do that in India as well as abroad. So if you are doing flight training in India, then it is important to clear at least 5 exams.
And if you go for flight training abroad, So you have to do these three exams, you have to do it mandatory. You will clear these three exams and you will give the rest of the exams in that country separately. But I always recommend it to wherever you are studying, whatever it is. The technical knowledge should definitely be studied. Because if you go to do practical flying, then about the engine parts, how the aircraft flies, all these things, If you are making ground knowledge strong then it helps you in flying as well.
So even if you are flying from outside and not giving exams in India then at least you need to have this knowledge. This RDR exam if you... If you fly from outside, the details of RTR exam, listen to it carefully If you fly in India, you have to do it But RTR exam, for example, if you fly from any other Commonwealth country For example, South Africa, Canada If you do flight training from all these countries Then you don't have to give this RTR exam But you have to renew it every year or every 5 years depending on which country you are from.
So it is always recommended that you clear the RDR exam as well. Otherwise, you will have to renew the license of RDR if you apply somewhere else. You will be stuck in the renewal for the whole life. So it is better...
If you clear the RTR exam You will be cleared for a lifetime But you will be tension free Ok So these are your exams In exams, passing percentage is 70% You will remember this 70% number for the rest of your life because it is the passing percentage like your CBSE has 33% passing marks in the boards similarly, this has 70% passing marks These exams are not merit based If you have got 90% passing marks then also it does not matter 70% passing marks does not matter These are qualifying exams So only qualifying is mandatory If you have 69 marks then it is a failure There is no negative marking in these Classes and time roughly you have 3 months time To finish these classes And every 3 months DGCA exams are taken So DGCA exams are taken You will be ready for the exam You will sit in the exams Exams are done every 3 months and majority people if they go with good marks then they clear in one attempt however there is no limitation to number of attempts for example you have given three exams and two exams passed but one exam was not passed so next time you don't need to give all three exams you will only give the remaining exam after that so for that Again, 70% will be the passing So multiple attempts, 10 times, 15 times, as many times as you can give But no need to give 10-15 times obviously In one or two attempts, your exams are cleared The charges for these exams are DGCA charges 2,500 per exam So if you are going to give 3 exams, then you will have to pay 7500 7500 you will have to pay Sometimes there is a new facility available that is called as on demand exams Generally there are four times exams in a year in every three months In March, in June, in three months But DTC said that you have given three exams and two passed And one exam was not passed So DTC says that you don't have to wait for three months You give on demand exams which are happening every month You can file for that exam but charges are 5000 per subject plus limited number of seats. Not everyone can apply. However, if you need less, you can apply for normal attempts every 3 months.
Costing for these exams is basically for the ground classes which you are studying for 3 months Depending on where you are taking classes, people charge anywhere between 2-3 lakhs Some people charge upto 3.5 lakhs So, charges are different for different institutions So, the costing for 2-3 lakhs comes in this So far we have discussed three things Medical, computer number and these glasses All three things can be done simultaneously It's not like you did medical Then in two months, the medical process happened Then you did computer number After one month, computer number will come And then you took three months classes So that total time is of seven to eight months So you don't do that These three things are happening simultaneously Medicals, because one day you do medical Medical is done Along with that, you get computer number application. In computer number application, you don't have to do anything. You just apply once. There is time in process. OTTC is taking its time.
At that time you can continue to attend the classes So you are preparing for the classes Your computer number will be given in this amount Your preparation is ready As soon as the exam date comes You go and appear for the exams The results of the exams within a week You get uploaded as a message on the phone Or on the DGC website So once the exams are over So tension will be free Now the exciting part will start That is the flying part The flying part Now you will go for flight training Now what is there in flight training? Let's talk about that Flight training Now flight training is not like For example you do graduation So graduation is for 3 years It is fixed that it has to be done in 3 years B.Tech is for 4 years only Now if you are a good student or slow Everyone has to take the same time However, this does not happen in flight training In flight training they say That you have to finish 200 hours of flight training 200 hours of plane made practical training I will show you the practice of flying So this practical flying is done on single engine aircrafts Single engine aircrafts are small aircrafts on which you train So in which one engine is used So roughly you do 185 hours on single engine aircrafts And 15 hours you do on multi engine aircrafts In that there are two engines on both sides of the wing So it is a slightly bigger aircraft So this is the requirement, you have to do this much 200 hours is the minimum requirement for flight training Now in flight training How much time does it take? Approx time on an average is one year One year time will be given I will tell you the time country wise But on an average one year time is required to complete the flight training Where can you do this flight training? You have been given the option of flight training You don't have to clear the exams in India You can do this training from outside but not in India If you are doing this training in India The cost depending on the flight school you will train Costs from 40 to 45 lakhs This is the main cost of flight training I will mention this, by the way in the comments below, someone will say that I watched half the video, so I should have told you in the beginning that after watching half the video you are telling that it is so costly that time is wasted but generally I think everybody knows that in pilot training, the costing comes Time in India is 12 months You can do this from other countries But majorly students prefer to go to US and South Africa There are two reasons for that It will help you in making a decision as to where to take the flight When you go to take a job in the airline Nobody will care where you took the flight from because all of you, one person did it from South Africa, one from US and one from India all three have Indian license so all three will be eligible to sit in the airline exams when you will be interviewed, you will be hired based on your knowledge so it does not matter from where you are flying it is not like you get extra marks during your job If you fly from US, then your cost of flight training increases to 50-60 lakhs. Now why is it 50-60 lakhs, however your cost remains the same.
But The accommodation charges are higher there Cost of living is higher in the US Your per month rent, food, all that is more So that's why your total cost including So in this 50 to 60 lakhs If you consider it around 60 lakhs So it is roughly around 55 lakhs Your accommodation is included Your food is not included Your tickets are not included So generally your accommodation and flight training is included Food etc. is different And if you look at it, in 55 to 65, everything is covered. You can even get food for 60 rupees. You get flight training in 8 months.
So it is passed. However, you will have to take exams there. Because you have taken the license of that country, they will also take exams from you. For example, if someone comes to India to do flight training, then you will have to give DGC exams to him too because you need India's license. Similarly, when you go to abroad countries, you have to give exams there also.
So, here, your exams part has increased a little from India. Because you have already given exams in India, now you have to give exams there also. However, in US, these written exams are not very tough. They are very easy.
So if you clear the Indian exams, there is nobody who will fail the exams in you It has never happened till date because it is a very simple basic paper The written exam is mostly seen on your flight training, more on practical So the exams were very tense and there are fewer exams And obviously the US American lifestyle, if you come to the UK, some kids will think If I am paying 10 lakhs extra, I will be able to go to the UK I will be training for 10 lakhs extra and in 8 months I will be in the US So that is completely your call, what you want to do Quality of training, it is not like quality of training is not good in India Now in India too there are good flight schools, there quality of training is very good So US also practical exposure is very good South Africa on the other hand, now in South Africa Costing is very less If you are doing flight training from South Africa, then your price reduces to anywhere between 30 to 35 lakhs. That includes accommodation also. So, you do this training in all of this for 35 lakhs.
But obviously, then you would be thinking that why don't you go to South Africa? So, there are two reasons for that. In South Africa, you have to clear 18-19 exams.
These exams are of the same level as DTC level in India. So, exams are not super easy. You have to study a lot there. You will be in the books throughout the year.
If you study and do flight training, you will get busy. Obviously, you will be saving upon some money. So close to, I would say 10 lakhs less than India in South Africa, costing wise, which will include accommodation also. So I have not included accommodation charges in India, generally because what happens in India is that Generally, all the flight training institutes are not in big cities like Delhi or Mumbai. So, there your rent is more.
These are located in small cities. So, here your rent accommodation is not that much. So, in India, you can see easily you get accommodation of 10-12,000 per month.
So, if you see the whole year, then I think above 1.25 lakh it will not cross your accommodation cost. So, that is not included in this. However, for US and South Africa, the accommodation cost is included.
When you fly from abroad, there is one more cost which is obviously included in this only that is called as conversion flying. So basically when you have flown from abroad, when you return to India to check your authenticity of flying, whether you have flown properly or not, then they say that you will have to do 8 hours of flight training in India. So after you have done 200, you come to India and it takes you 1-2 weeks in which you finish this 8 hours of flying. The costing roughly comes to around 2 lakhs which is included in the costing.
So it is not separate, it is a part of this. So if you do this flying, then basically your flying is complete. So you have divided it into two parts, first you completed the ground classes, now your flight training will be over, depending on which country you have done it from.
Job wise, as I told you, it does not matter from where you are doing it. But you have to take the call, in detail you have to know something, about country and school you can call or message me on the number given below now you apply for your license training is completed now what you do you take your documentation that see DGCA I have cleared the exams I have done the flight training these are my documentation please give me a license even if you don't say please you will give the documentation then also you will get the license but the point is You will get a license. So now you have the license, what is the next step? Now, I won't get a salary after getting the license.
I have spent so much money, so I need a salary too. But before that, let's talk about salary. Some people ask about loans. Whether you get a loan or not.
Yes, you get an education loan in this. Education loan is just like any other college that provides you with an education loan. So what happens in this is that you get an admission letter from the academy stating that this student has been enrolled in the academy and the fees for this training is so and so. If you take for US, you will get 50 lakhs, we will provide a complete letter that yes, this student has been enrolled and loan is required.
Now loan obviously, banks collateral or your parents collateral is as in property etc. against or your parents ITR, against that you get loan. Now there is a good thing about loan and there is a bad thing. The question is whether you should take a loan or not, we will talk about that in the job assurance slide. But the good thing about a loan is that you do not have to repay it today. For example, you have started the course from 1st Jan 2025. Now the completion date given in the letter is 1st Jan 2026. So you don't need to repay the loan on this date.
You get one year's time. So basically you will have to start paying on 1st Jan 2027. You will get one year's time for repayment. You can repay the loan on your own after applying for a job.
But the bad part about it is, obviously the bank is paying you, so they will take their money from you. So, The day they send you this amount, for example, they have sent X amount to the Academy in 2025, so from that day, they will start charging interest on that amount. However, you don't have to pay that interest at that time, the loan amount will keep being added to your account. You will have to start that payment from this date itself. So, this is the loan facility that is available.
Now let's talk about how to go to the airlines. Now you have become a pilot, you have a license, now you will have to fly for the airlines. So what do the airlines do?
They conduct their own exams. Now coming back to the same point which we had discussed earlier that why don't they ask for your 12th percentage? This is the reason, DGC has cleared the exam, now the airlines will clear their exams.
Now these exams are not qualifying exams. Like DGC exams were qualifying exams, you only need 70%. These are merit based exams. So, now we will take out our airline vacancies.
So, generally when do vacancies come? They come from time to time. If I look in the last 6 months, Majority of the airlines have taken out vacancies, some have taken out vacancies twice.
They need all the number of X amount of pilots, 100 pilots, 200, 50. So, different number of vacancies are taken out and airlines conduct their own exams. All the CPL holders will sit in the exams. They have divided the exam into some parts, that is written exam. They will take written exam which you have read till now. It has preparation as well.
Some students do self study in these classes. It is a merit based exam. So you have to study in depth. There are question solvings.
Then there is a psychometric test. The student whose written stage is cleared, he will be doing the psychometric test. What is a psychometric test?
It is not a difficult exam. In psychometric, there is an aptitude test. They check the student's psychology. In that, they will ask you a question like this. If you have a fight with the captain, how will you react?
Or you will get questions of general mathematics of 8th and 10th standard. It is not a difficult question and aviation knowledge is not that much. So, all this is checked in psychometry. Generally, the students that are at this academy, when we come on day 1, they get a psychometric test done. You get an idea of how the psychometric test is going to be.
Parents also get an idea. So, this is not something that is very difficult to crack. It is an easy exam. Group discussion. So after that you go through group discussion.
Group discussion is something that only a few airlines do. Not all the airlines go through this stage. Group discussion means that you will be given a topic and all of you will be discussing.
Basically they are seeing your communication skills and your problem solving capability in a team. How do you work as a team. So all these airlines don't do this.
Then you go through a personal interview. So, they will conduct your interview. Personally, they will ask you some questions, technical questions, HR questions, family life, everything they will ask you.
Based on that, they will judge you and you will be hired. So, this whole process roughly takes about a max to max one month process. In this one month, all these exams, everything will be done.
So, once you clear this, airlines will give you a letter of acceptance. Congratulations, you are a part of... Our airline and then airline will start to train you further.
Train you further for what? In this, in airline exams, people will ask that everyone is clear or not. So, in this, it happens that in airline exam generally, it is a process. For example, let's go to the previous slide.
For example, we have a vacancy now. You came today. You have completed your CPL and you are sitting in the exam, you have just come back from the vacancy.
But you see, the people who had completed before you, 3-4 months before, they are already studying for these exams. So they have a slightly upper hand for that particular exam. So 20 vacancies have come and 100 people are sitting. So obviously, the people who are studying from before, they have a little more chances. Now you will continue to study, after 1-2 months, the vacancy will come.
At that time, the kids who will come after completing the flying, you will have an upper hand through with them. So, there is a process that will continue throughout. So, airline vacancies keep coming and with the number of aircrafts in India at order at this point, which is how aviation is booming now, so vacancies should continue to come continuously. Now, there is something called as type rating.
Now, what is type rating? Listen to it carefully, it gets a little confusing. Type rating is basically, now you flew on a small aircraft, the training you did of 200 hours, you did it on a small aircraft.
There are two-seater aircraft, two-seater, four-seater. But when you come to the airline to fly, you have to fly big aircraft, there are 200-seater aircraft, there are 400-seater aircraft, you have to fly this. So it's like, if I talk in layman terms, in a way of explaining, that if you have learned to drive a car, now you have to drive a bus.
And you will need extra training for that. And you will need endorsement on your license for being a heavy driver. So, in the same way, in pilots, you train on small aircrafts and if you have to fly big aircrafts, then they have separate training. Now, what is the cost of training?
The timing is that it takes roughly 40 days to finish this training. It can be done in India or abroad. Airlines will send you. Costing, roughly 15 lakhs is the costing. Now who will pay?
Will you pay or will the airline? So again that depends on the demand and supply. So if I tell you about the timing, if you look at 2005-2006, there were a lot of vacancies, a lot of airlines were opening up, so basically pilots were less, so airlines used to pay money.
But after 2008, there was a recession, so vacancies were less, pilots were more, so airlines started saying that you pay, pilots will pay for this cost. So this keeps on changing. However, at this time, pilots have to pay this cost. So airlines are charging you this 15 lakhs, it is the cost of the type rating, you have to pay for it.
In future, we don't know, there will be more shortage. Sometimes some airlines say, we will deduct this cost from your salary. By dividing your salary per month, you will be able to enter your salary in a year or two or three years. So that is again dependent, but as of now, you have to consider this as a past part of your budget when you are doing your pilot training. What is Airbus, Boeing, ATR?
All the type ratings of big aircrafts, all the airlines, let me tell you in a simple language, for example, Maruti has its own cars, Chevrolet will have its own cars, Mahindra is a different company. Similarly, the companies that make the airplanes, these big companies like Airbus, Boeing, ATR, these are different companies, so their aircraft systems are also different. Mahindra's future operating system will be different from Fortuner's. So, there are different designs. Aircraft has a lot of technical systems.
That's why there are different type ratings of aircraft. So, whichever airline you are hired in, some airline must be flying all the Airbus. For example, Indigo Airlines in India, they fly Airbus.
GoAir used to fly Airbus. Before that, Jet Airways used to fly Boeing. This is Akasa Airlines. Boeing flies. So, the airline that operates the aircraft, you are sent to do the type rating of that aircraft.
So, if you have done the type rating of that, then you cannot fly Airbus if you have done the type rating of Boeing. And once that training is completed, you are released as a first officer in the airline and you start getting paid also. You will start getting paid from the day the airline will give you a job. So, you will start paying the salary of the airline from the day you will be part of it, from the day you will get a job.
Now, there is one more line written here, before or after. Now, what is before and after? After is basically, we are talking about type rating only.
That when do you do type rating? So, after getting a job with the airline. So, the good part is that the amount you are spending, your job has already been done.
But, sometimes airlines come out with type rated vacancy. Now, what is called type rated? Type rated vacancy is a normal vacancy for CPL holders.
All the pilots who have trained for flight are CPL holders. In this case, I am trying to explain you by giving random numbers. For example, 50 vacancies have been applied. 200 people have applied. So, the competition is a bit tough.
But, some people do a type rating of 15 lakhs. Boeing or Airbus, they do the type rating themselves before the job. They go to the private institute and say that they can see that there are many Boeing aircrafts in India.
They do the type rating of Boeing. In that case, airlines sometimes come out with type rated vacancies. Because the type rating that the pilots have already done, it is a vacancy for them. In that case, if for example 20 vacancies come, then you may have 30-40 applications. So your competition has reduced.
This is the benefit of doing type rating. But this is a benefit, there will be some loss. So the loss in this is that for example, I did the type rating of Boeing. If the airline of Airbus has taken out the vacancy, then I cannot apply in that vacancy. Or if I apply, I will have to again do that type rating with 15 lakhs.
So this call is not for now, it is just to give you a basic idea. When you reach that stage, you will see at that time that more Boeing orders are coming. and vacancies are coming for type rated people, then you should do type rating and come, it does not harm you.
But again I always recommend that you apply in CPL vacancy back to back because CPL vacancies are more than that. 20 will come in it, 50 will come in it, plus back to back will come, 4 times of airline will come, in this type rated will come once or twice, so that call you have to take at that time. However, do it anywhere, you have to pay money twice.
Once this is completed, So now you are a part of airline. Let's talk about salary. Now what will happen in this?
Job assurance first of all asks questions that I have spent so much money, now I need money back also. Will I be able to make or not? And will I get a job or not?
So look, no one will give you a guarantee of a job. Many people think that I have heard that we have heard that we have to spend money only and piloting is not possible by spending money. Parents say that you can study till 12th or 12th and then you will be tension free.
But that is not the case. You have to continue studying continuously throughout your life. Your simulator checks and all these things are going on every 6 months throughout your life once you are an airline pilot.
Obviously that is the reason airlines are paying you such good salaries also. So, you should look at job assurance in such a way that the students who study, jobs are mostly for everyone. Because not everybody is spending that much amount to do the pilot training.
So there are some people who can do it. So the chances of getting a job are very high. But again, it is not like you have done flying and will get a job the next day. So the process that I was telling you that you have finished flight training today. But you see the kids who have finished flying two to three months before you, they have been studying till now for the airline return exam.
You can prepare while flying if you get time. generally come time will but within that process if you continue to study eventually you will get hired with job assurance key I kiss cool thingy airline go the pilots chain of like an economic on flag area or job is killing a game obviously joke exam cracker a the process is simple up exam cracker you will get a job salaries the exciting part well the salaries Joanne's may up initially when you join the airline you join as a trainee first officer tfo Under training, your salary is roughly 30-50 thousand per month. Next, you become a first officer. There are two pilots to run an airplane, a captain and a first officer.
The salary of a first officer is 2-3 lakhs per month. In a year or two, you become a senior first officer. As a first officer, you fly under the captain's command, but when you become a senior in the company, your salary is 3.5-4.5 lakhs per month depending on which airline you fly for.
This is your fixed amount. On top of this, the allowances are different. So, sometimes if you fly more than a month, the salary goes up, so it doesn't go down. Rest, then you upgrade to a captain. How much time does it take to become a captain?
So, here I told you the timing. Roughly 3 to 5 months you are a TFO. Trainee First Officer.
Then you become a First Officer. So, you stay as a First Officer for 1 to 1.5 years. And then Senior First Officer.
So, from being a trainee First Officer to becoming a captain, it takes you roughly 3 to 5 years. Once you become a captain, you get a salary of 7-10 lakhs per month. Obviously, these salaries are taxable according to Indian laws.
You have to pay the taxes in India. You get the salary only after paying the taxes. Apart from this, you have one more option.
When you have a 1-2 year flying experience, you can shift to other airlines which are abroad. For example, FlyDubai is there in Dubai. Emirates, Qatar Airways, all these airlines they hire experienced pilots only. They don't hire them in freshers.
So, if you have been flying for 1-2 years from outside, then you can join those airlines. What is the benefit of joining those airlines? Salary is almost 3 times.
So, the salary of first officer is usually 2-3 lakhs per month. There salary will be close to 8-9 lakhs per month for first officer only and that is no tax. So, there are not so many taxes.
So, that benefit is there captain salary goes up to 14 lakhs per month no taxes so that is a personal choice whether you wish to work for those airlines or you want to continue working in india only so congratulations now you are an airline pilot you got all the information about this if you have any other queries or doubts you can mention it in the comment section or in the comment section You can also message on whatsapp or instagram page of poetic pilot academy You can message on that too. It is not taking much money to give information So there are no charges for information. Somebody will charge you for giving information Consultation everything is free of cost as much as you need information Monthly live webinars are also there in which you can sit and ask questions and doubts One more small thing I will tell you that the next video will be That is Cadet Pilot vs Conventional Program. Now what is Cadet Program and Conventional Program?
I will tell you briefly in 30 seconds. So that you have a fair idea. So Conventional Program is What I have explained to you since so long That is Conventional Program basically You are doing everything.
One is Cadet Program. This is the Cadet Program of Airlines. What is the difference between them? In Conventional Program you are step 1 1, 2, 3, all the steps I have told you, you do all this yourself. And in the end, you give the airline exam.
In the cadet program, this airline exam part is done first. You give the airline exam first, then you follow the rest of the steps under the guidance of the airline. So you get a job on the first day itself. You don't get a salary, you get job assurance and then you do your training, your ground school classes, flight training. training under the guidance of airline you do that.
The vacancy of the cadet program is there but now you must be thinking then everyone should do the cadet program because they are getting a job on the first day, how much is the hassle that they will get a job later. So obviously there is an advantage and disadvantage. What is the disadvantage?
There are two disadvantages of the cadet program. However, it is a very good program, you are getting a job guarantee from the first day so tension free. Two, money.
The cost of the cadet program is very high. that is 1 cr to 1.2 cr so this is the cost but in this roughly you get everything in 50 to 70 lakhs just a little hard work is required here that is necessary in this not in the first day it is not like that in the cadet program if 100 people sit then 20 people are selected so but you have that job assurance but your costing goes from 1 crore to 1.2 crore. Timing is close to 2 to 3 years it takes. So this is the credit program.
I will give you the detailed description of all these in the next video. So you can follow the page. So you will get all the other aviation related videos on this. If you have any other doubt, you can let me know. So I tried my best to simplify things for you.
If you have any doubt about this, I will try to simplify it further. So thank you so much. Bye bye and best of luck.
