Varus and valgus Elbow Stress Tests Overview

okay we're going to demonstrate the Varys and valgus tests which have to do with the lateral ligaments in the medial ligaments of the elbow and to demonstrate this we're going to have the patient sitting have them in a secur position uh the first test I'm going to show you is the Varys test and we're we're designed with the Varys test to test the Integrity of the lateral collateral ligament when I get into position I take the patient all the way up into elbow extension and take them slightly out of elbow extension just about a degree or two probably about 5° at the most from this position his forearm is fully supinated so I'm in here I get my mobilization arm Across The Joint line that's very important this becomes part of my body okay my palpation finger on the lateral side is right at the radial head and at the humoris cuz that is where the location of the lateral collateral ligament is from this position full extension take them out of extension slightly and do a ver varus force varus force into the elbow testing the Integrity of the lateral collateral ligament very important that the patient is not pronated that the Pati is in full supination and you and you're getting this Dimension that you pal and you do the vars force in this direction okay next we're going to go to is the valgus stress test the valgus stress test I'm going to get on the lateral side of the patient's body I get my footwork one leg in front of the other so it's stagger stance once again now this hand is going to be across the The Joint line and my palpation finger is a wrong is a cross the medial epicondilite I rub and find the ligament from this position fully supinated arm take them up into full extension bring them back down and do a valgus stress a valgus stress okay this is valgus testing the medial collateral ligament and my position is like so
