so first we have to say hello to everyone watching right that's right hello yeseo and so Cassie we're talking about what we're talking about youth has things up so inside in English it's creating some writing or saying hi to someone but it's a little more complicated than that that's right it's very deep in Korea yeah so we'll talk about it when it comes to people in general in the Korean society this topic of Inza can be very important and also very mmm Nikki right it can be quite sometimes confusing so for example if I were somebody in his 50s 60s and you see me you know me but you know you don't say anything you just okay incredibly rude it would be incredibly rude and even if you were like 50 meters away like far away from me even if you could maybe argue that you didn't see me the other person would feel a little bit upset a little bit angry right right because inside is part of being polite in the Korean society that's right and one thing I've noticed with with insight in Korean society is like compared to America we usually it's polite to say hello if you see someone you know yeah but it's it doesn't matter really if you say bye-bye you know like if you're in an elevator together you can feel like and go on your way but in Korea it's very impolite to just kind of wave and go yeah so the first point that we will try to make in this portion of the video is I guess Inza of course it's translated to greeting someone or saying hello to someone or even saying bye to someone or expressing some kind of Vedic rata tune or giving some message but it's usually more about a younger person right acknowledging or saying hi or paying some kind of respect to an older person right so Korea is a very hierarchical Society so these levels of politeness are very very important yes so usually when we say that you know someone is giving a greeting to someone we think more a younger person to an older person yeah so therefore there's this compliment that we give to kids quite often which is in Zadar Tyrande right kid he's really good with ins us right good at greeting yeah what does that mean like yeah they can pronounce I know my CEO really well today that it's that they are polite they are friendly they're sometimes sociable maybe right but more polite right yeah and there's also this thing in Korea that I thought was interesting Pikul insa kuban's ah yeah so a patent hiccup is belly button and it's pickle inverse or belly button greeting and what that means is they just bow so deeply it's like they're showing so much respect yeah oh yeah they're like so great and you know very happy about so I guess there can be many terms to refer to that like when you just meet somebody and you just not a little bit mm-hmm that's new boo yeah but this is I don't know what this is in formal Korean but we say just pick up ha ha t su casa ha hey oh but pick up in Thai is a very cute term man that you use with kids so even my younger boy who is less than two years old he knows the term Pico beans are so whenever a guest is leaving we say the echo beans ha and he would just go he doesn't even you know speak he would just go like that so it's a big part of the Korean culture so because of that if two people compete each other and one person is older and the other person is a kid even if for example they both saw each other I think even if the older guy or the person you know wants to be polite and he or she says I know first and the kid says I never hear very cheerfully brightly gladly you don't say that the kid is in sesame pacta incest Tony powdered up because they didn't do it do it yeah so of course nobody will think badly of the kid but usually the the kind of image that is associated with in sesame Chhota peridot is the kid saying I know my co first two other people and the the image that comes to mind for this is on the bus sometimes little kids will come up and say I'm yeah I'm a bus driver and the bus driver will say hello back yeah and then when they get off they say anything yeah since adults don't do that to the bus drivers the bus drivers will say as a company oh you summed up a man right to the kid or to the kids mom or dad right so it's a huge compliment insomnia pear guy who incessantly Peregrine's ie sometimes in school reports and every report cards and everything right teachers will say humans as Sonia Peugeot and so and so that's a big big point huge point okay so because of that related to what we just discussed and there are some phrases that you will hear in movies and dramas so for example some be you know what are some baby somebody is someone older than you that's either like a co-worker or a classmate exactly in the same school or in the same workplace so sunbae sunbae can say to a Kubik younger person in the same environment Oh some better person melon insider right some better possum it means how to hedge it means if you solve these since you saw me you greet me greet me of course the zombie can greet the Samba is equally capable of saying hello of course but this inside doesn't mean saying hello it's like being polite by saying hello first right so it's a little tricky it's complicated it's almost kind of like saying you know where's your manners why haven't you said hello to me exactly so I'm entitled to being greeted by you right because my social status is higher than yeah so there's this hierarchical aspect to it and there's this phrase in za rue shequida or the in Sasha Kiba so you have someone to treat someone exactly Shakira is to have someone do something tone so today is to make somebody clean ins ask you guys to make someone say hi to someone that's right but you never say that about an older person too younger person exactly like usually it's you are introducing your new boyfriend or girlfriend to somebody in your family like somebody older of course it can happen among people of the same age but in such CUDA it's usually like formally introducing right but a younger to an older person that's right like you you will never hear somebody saying yeah but err not in such cute kids and it's strange yes all right so I think we've covered most of what we just wanted to talk about in this video aaden's ha Eden's ah of course it's simply translated to greeting or saying hi but it has a bigger politeness aspect to it right so it's a little bit complicated we just wanted to give you some examples anything else you want y'all want to add well just be sure to practice this and when in doubt always greet people first yeah and always in to remember polite language that's right never I know I'm young no okay where do they always say no I say okay sometimes I try to be you know like this is of course what it has been like in Korean society it doesn't have to be like this for ever right right so older person can say hello to a younger kid first too so I think that will eventually change I think so I try to create this middle school boy in the elevator in the apartment building that I live in first and sometimes I'm never sure like you see a kid kid so what should I say I know or should I say no I say oh he has you know some facial hair too you know alright so it's a gray area yeah when you don't always say yeah I see oh and then they will turn turn back and say no I say oh - alright so that's it for this video everyone thanks so much for watching and thank you so much for studying Korean every single day with becoming Korean yes and yeah please subscribe to our YouTube channel and turn on the notifications and we must say our final in right I'm using l200 make it a Oh papa bye-bye you [Music]
