uh hi everybody madis here i hope you are doing great last week we talked about questionnaire design and how we can develop a standard questionnaire if you remember when we talked about uh data collection we said uh there are some times that our target respondents are not located in the same place they are in on different locations geographically far from each other perhaps if you're going to conduct a traditional type of data collection using pen and paper you need to travel to different cities to different locations for example let's say that your target respondents are top level managers of manufacturing since in australia so there are different manufacturing firms in australia in different sectors which are located in different cities so if you're going to conduct a traditional type of data collection you need to travel to different cities which is not really practical because it can cost you a lot so one type of data collection that to tackle this situation is online surveying instead of directly approaching your respondents you design your survey on the web and you distribute the link of your server to your respondents so last week we learned about how to design a survey on a paper this week you're going to learn how to design a survey on the web uh one of the platforms that's very popular to design a survey online is qualtrics you may have heard about qualtrics before it's a simple to use web-based uh platform to design a survey online on the web [Music] perhaps everyone even without any experience can design a survey on quality and then distribute a survey uh qualters have so many functions um obviously we do not have time to you know talk about all the functions in the equal tricks uh it really depends on on your need the way you want you to get your survey to look professional but today we just want to learn the basics of uh quality i want everyone to exactly follow the steps i'm gonna go through uh the first step is um pretty much similar to other platforms so we have to go through the following link [Music] so in this page you must need to put your student id here and your password here so you need to put your student id without mq because you're a student so put a student id here on your password here press sign in let me delete this project first so the page you're seeing must be similar to this page create a new project and then choose server here you need to uh choose a name you can choose mktg8005 or whatever name you're gonna choose uh it doesn't matter and then press get started [Music] uh this is the page that you basically design your survey uh this is the main page of politics for designing the survey if you click here you would see uh so many different types of questions it really depends on on the type of questions you you have in your survey so when you move your mouse pointer uh i trust different options it gives you an example of either of them for example what is a text entry it is similar to this type of question here what is a matrix label it's similar to these so that would give us an indication of the type of question we need to choose so remember that last week we said we start our survey uh with a cover letter where we introduce ourselves introduce ourselves sorry who am i and you know what's the purpose of this study and where it comes from for example which university and this sort of information so for cover letter you must choose descriptive text so let me open a survey let's say i'm going to design this survey in qualtrics this is also your practice for this week so at the beginning i have a cover letter so i said how long would it take to design to fill out this survey and i've also put some instructions for my respondents so you can simply copy and paste this in your quality so i'm gonna choose the skip with text click here and then you simply paste your cover letter here okay so you have the instruction and and your cover letter even you can bring other stuff in terms of different type of schedule that your respondents would see in in the survey so when you finish it just click here and then you have your cover letter here right so you have designed the first question q1 i will talk about different types of questions later and the different functions that you see here so let us create a new another question here what is our second question here our second question is about our respondents h right what is your age so i can simply [Music] copy these and then we need to choose another type of question which question do we choose which type of question do we choose this time if we look at this survey there are different options different choices so we have to choose multiple choice when you see the example of multiple choice here so we're going to choose multiple choice for this question [Music] again you put your question here and then your choices less than 18 18 to 30 31 to 45 46 260 and more than 61. so click to add choice 1 less than 18 18 to 30 except one to 45 and if you need to have more choices simply click here to add a choice so you can have as many choices as you need so here i need to have four choices so on my last stress is more than sorry 46 to 60 i'm going to have another choice i'm going to add another choice and more than 61. so basically design my second question which is about my respondents age so what is the next question here is about gender again your gender would be uh multiple choice question i'm not gonna go through that [Music] more let's uh let's look at the another another question for how many years you have been working in this industry so if i'm gonna design this question in cold tricks again i could create new question and in this one i need to have i need to choose a text entry because that that match my question so i put for one the question i play i passed the question here for how many years you have been working in this industry and then your respondents have this uh you know this box to put uh whatever years they want okay so that's what we need to choose uh text entry question what else here uh we also talked about uh scanning out question in in qualities so uh let's say that we're gonna frame out our respondents who are less than 18 so we don't want to have the answer so if the answer is if the our responders age is less than 18 i'm gonna get them uh to the end of the questionnaire because they are not legible to fill out our survey so to do that we need to add keep logic okay press skip logic and then if your condition is if someone selects less than 18 skip two so there are different options here we're gonna skip them to end of survey okay and then done right so we put a condition here if we're any chance any of our respondents uh choose less than 18 they would be skipped to the end of our survey so that's skip logic so for open end question you choose uh text entry and for uh we we set that for um cover letter you choose descriptive text and if you have a multiple choice question like age or gender or education we need to choose multiple choice questions now we can add a new block to start designing our main questions or simply we can we can create a new question the difference is when you add a blog then your next question would appear in the next block which is the next page in the screen of your response so let's hit add block and then create a new question here again now i'm going to design one of my main items here there are three items here which is about the environment of the industry of the films my respondents for the firms that my response are working uh three items here i simply can copy all of them at the same time and then the type of question i need to choose this time is matrix table you see that this is the example of the question that you get so i'll choose matrix paper here even if i just click on the version statement and then paste those tests and then from the questionnaire all come and sit here the number of scale pool that i have here is five i can simply [Music] add the skill point here so i have three now i'm gonna change it to five see now i got five we have automatic scale points here from uh message to h3 to five and because i put automotive i checked the automotive all uh commented here the difference is i need to change the direction because in my questionnaire i have i have one that represents strength with a tree and five that represents strongly a tree which is not consistent with this one so i need to change it to string the dc3 and then you see that all would change automatically again i have uh seven here i'm going to change it to five so now i have a streaming city some of the surgery and neither like you know the secret someone that you and the strange a3 right even if you're not happy with this skill point you can choose either of them okay you can simply type whatever you want so this is the way that you actually design your main questions so you can do the same uh with the rest of the question what else we can do here there are some options here one of them which i recommend you uh to choose is uh this box mobile friendly that if you choose this box then your server would fit and the screen of any mobile phone another one that i'm gonna uh ask you to choose is force response this is very uh important function so by choosing force response you force your respondents to answer the question they cannot go to the next block or they cannot go to the next page unless they answer this question so you can choose that first response for each and every single one of them if it's very important for you your respondents choose or answer this question you also need to check force response separately for this question if it's not really important that you don't need to choose close response okay but for for your main question i i recommend you to uh choose first response because uh specifically when you do not have a large number of respondents and you really need to get a very high response rate then you need to force them to answer your questions if you have like a 2000 respondent and you just need to get perhaps 50 of them or 100 of them maximum to answer your questions uh you do not necessarily need to choose first response because out of let's say 2000 there's a high chance that at least 100 of them would you know fill out their survey but if let's say you have 500 respondents and you really need to get you know 400 of them to to reply back to to return your survey then that's the time that you need to choose
