NCAA Overview
- Membership organization of over 1,000 colleges/universities across 3 divisions
- Differences in divisions based on enrollment, student-athletes, and teams
Choosing an NCAA School
- Considerations: School size, location, study programs, costs, admission requirements, culture, sports specifics
Initial Eligibility Process
Basics
- Certification in academic and amateur requirements
- Separate from college admission
- Test scores not required as of January 2023 for NCAA, but may be needed for university admission
Registration
- Register through eligibilitycenter.org ideally before freshman year
- Three account types:
- Profile Page Account: Free, for early or undecided students
- Academic and Amateurism Certification Account: Required for NCAA certification, $100 fee ($160 for international)
- Amateurism Only Certification Account: For international students on a Division 3 track
Core Courses & Certification
Core Course Requirements
- Must meet high school graduation requirements in specific subject areas (English, Math, Science, etc.)
Certification Outcomes for Division 1 and 2

Division 1: Qualifier, Academic Redshirt, Non-qualifier
- Qualifier: 16 core courses, minimum 2.3 GPA
- Academic Redshirt: 16 core courses, GPA between 2.0 - 2.29

Division 2: Qualifier, Partial Qualifier
- Qualifier: 16 core courses, minimum 2.2 GPA
Division 3
- No certification required from the NCAA

Homeschool Toolkit

Required Documentation
- Transcript: Must include demographic and academic record, signed by administrator
- Administrator Statement: Affirms validity of documentation
- Core Course Worksheets: Required for each core course
Special Scenarios
- Pre-9th Coursework: Can be used if on high school transcript with credit
- Dual Enrollment: College courses taken in high school, requires dual enrollment transcript
Documentation Submission
- Email preferred with student's name and 10-digit NCAA ID
- Umbrella programs can submit transcripts
