application of knowledge it includes tools from pencil and paper to the latest electronic gadgets and tools for practical tasks all things that can be used as teaching tools are called technology this technology is not only refers to the modern equipment used in teaching but it is any items that can be used to facilitate teaching and learning process second information and communication technology literacy or ict literacy it is the use of digital technology communication tools and or networks to access manage integrate evaluate create and communicate information in order to function in a knowledge society this is the ability of people to enter the digital world the ability of people to use computers in the internet people communicate on different platforms to acquire new knowledge and home skills especially in the academic world in this time of pandemic it is necessary to be ict literate especially those teachers and students who are using online delivery of instruction third educational technology educational technology refers to the use of technology in teaching and learning it includes both the non-digital materials like flip charts pictures models realius etcetera and digital electronic tools like hardware software and connections etc educational technology is the use of technology in the teaching and learning process the technologies referred to here are not only innovative but all tools that can be used in the teaching learning process it also includes the use of traditional teaching aids fourth digital literacy it is the ability to find evaluate utilize share and create contents using information technologies in the internet it is the ability of students and teachers to seek new knowledge on the internet the ability to evaluate information find on the internet and use only those important and useful information gathered on the internet using modern technologies fifth digital learning digital learning is any type of learning that is accompanied by technology or by instructional practice that makes effective use of technology it encompasses the application of a wide spectrum of practices which included blended or virtual learning this is the kind of learning that requires modern technologies learning here only takes place through the teachers use of modern equipment such as computers internet interactive boards and the like it can be used in face-to-face learning in online learning it focuses on the use of important modern equipment so that teachers can teach and students can learn instructional technology is the theory and practice of design development utilization management and evaluation of the processes and resources for learning in the preparation development and use of instructional materials there is wisdom behind it there are theories that need to be considered in order for it to be relevant to the students and even to the topic being discussed because students are the core of instruction they are the first to consider when preparing materials in the strategy to be used in instruction this is what we call instructional technology the wisdom behind these preparations of instructional materials sixth multimedia multimedia is a sequential or simultaneous use of a variety of media formats in a given presentation or self-study program the use of different media by teachers in teaching and by students and learning examples of these are google youtube television movies video games music cell phones various kinds of software internet and print media like books magazines newspapers number seven productivity tools it refer to any type of software associated with computers and related technologies that can be used as tools for personal professional or classroom productivity these are the softwares used by teachers and students such as firefox google chrome internet explorer vlc windows media player adobe photoshop coreldraw powerpoint presentations movie makers and more number eight technology tools technology tools are instruments used for doing work it can be anything that help you accomplish your goal with the use of technology these technology tools can be classified as one data calculation tools examples spreadsheets sketch pads probability constructor two design tools these are used to make models and designs creating and building examples family tree maker gully g and crazy machines among others three discussion tools there are four different approaches that utilize discussion and interaction in the internet these are threaded discussion forum blogging live chat and video teleconferencing for email tools emails are great communication tools for sending messages photographs videos and other files it allows you to reach out to others around the world examples google mail yahoo mail and many more five handheld devices handheld devices have become popular among learners these include personal digital assistance global positioning system gps and geographic information system just in the classroom portable electronic keyboards digital cameras mobile phones home handheld computers technology is very important in teaching it is impossible to deny that teaching requires tools to be performed properly and for teaching to be effective the preparation of instructional materials also requires theories and principles this is necessary for the teaching and learning process to be meaningful as a teacher it is important to know the needs and interests of students in the preparation of instructional materials it is also important that the materials used are relevant to the topic being discussed times are changing we cannot deny that the things we use today are modern that is why the skills of the students also change and it follows the times the strategies used by teachers in the present era are in line with the skills of the students in the present era therefore the instructional materials also go hand in hand with it once again this is
