Calculating Stroke Volume and Cardiac Output

hi my name is shelly and today i'm going to show you how to calculate the stroke volume and cardiac output using echo with the clarius pa scanner i'm using the cardiac preset and to begin with i need to get a left ventricular outflow tract diameter so i'm going to go to the parasternal window for this freeze my image i want it with the valve open go to lvot diameter and measure the lvot close to the aortic valve opening we'll take a picture and now i'm going to move down to the apical window so i'm now in the apical view and i need the apical 5 chamber view which includes the aortic valve and the left ventricular outflow tract i'm going to bring up my pulse doppler and place my sample volume in the left ventricular outflow tract and start the doppler scroll wow so once i get a nice clean doppler spectrum i'm going to go back into my calculation package i'm going to measure the heart rate just by measuring peak to peak and i'm also going to do a trace of the left ventricular outflow tract flow so now i'm getting the stroke volume of 141 cc's and if i hit the back arrow to get to the report page i'm also getting a display of the cardiac output here so a nice quick way to get your cardiac output and stroke volume estimations you
