welcome to language nomads for learning a language is an enjoyable journey hey there nomads today's topic is going to be basic concepts of the korean language the first thing is hangul which is a writing system that looks a bit like this i know it looks scary but don't worry it is actually quite simple as it can be considered an alphabet as you may already know western languages like spanish or english use alphabets as their writing system in it letters are used to represent sounds and by putting them together we create words korean is just like that each one of these symbols represent a sound and by putting them together we create words so once you learn the letters you're good to go i won't be explaining hangul because i don't know any proper way to do it but i'll leave a link down below to a site called how to study korean but you can learn it there are some things we need to know to be able to read and write korean first vowels are drawn vertically and horizontally and second korean is written in blocks that represent a single syllable and they must be written in one of the following orders also there are some rules to take into consideration the number 2 is always a vowel number 1 and 3 and sometimes 4 are always consonants blocks contained in a horizontally drawn vowel are always drawn in one of these two ways blocks containing a vertically drawn vowel are always drawn in one of these two ways korean uses the following sentence structure let me quickly explain these concepts just in case you don't know them the subject refers to the person thing noun or wherever that is performing the action and the object refers to whatever the verb is acting on for example in the sentence the girl sings a song the girl is the subject and the song is the object besides that i also learned some korean greeting words specifically the words for hello thank you how are you and please now i'll try to pronounce them as good as i can but remember korean is also a new language for me so please don't be too harsh i'm still learning first i learned an aseo anya to mean hello second i learned two ways to say thank you and come up sumida then i learned charles which is the most literal way of saying how are you though it is not a commonly used expression and lastly which means please that's it for today's introductory lesson remember to check the link on the description box to practice your angle hit the like button if you enjoy it and also consider subscribing see you on the next video
